been using this a little over a year now and have always had problems holding a constant humidity despite seasoning and re-seasoning the box. This is not my first humidor so I do know what im doing. On top of that the little nails that hold the metal trim and latches on the outside of the box started backing out. I finally lost enough of them that the left hand latch completely came off of the humidor and is now useless. If it werent for the lock then i dont think i would be able to hold humidity at all. 1 year later I am pretty disappointed in this piece

When my little 40 cigar humidor started not being able to keep up with all the good deals from CI my wife was actually the first one to say "well just get another humidor. I'm sure CI has some good deals on them", to which my response was "no, that's okay. I'll just use ziploc bags". I then followed up a short time later by showing her CI's selection of medium sized humidors and asking "which one do you like?" She chose the Renaissance humidor and said that it had a 'junk gypsy' look that would go with our motif. "Sure thing honey, whatever you say!" SOLD! As for the humidor itself I admit it was actually a little bigger than I expected but I'm okay with that, now I can take more advantage of the crazy good CI deals! It seasoned well and seems to be well constructed. All in all it will serve my purposes for years to come. And since my wife picked it I'm free from any conversations that start with "you need to find somewhere else to put that". Win win!

I actually really like this humidor. It looks great and the cedar lining is top notch. The included humidifier is kinda crap, but I use the Humi-Care jars to humidify and so far they're great. As with anything you get what you pay for, but for the price of this one it's a good value. Unlike the first reviewer my locking mechanism does work when the latches are closed, so I'm sure there are some inconsistencies given these are made in China. I'm very happy with it so far and would recommend it to anyone considering a good entry-level humidor. I got this on sale for $179 and it is a great buy at that price point. For $300 it's probably not worth it, but for the lower price it most definitely is.

Customer Testimonials
I'm not entirely sure why the previous reviewer is making noise about this humidor being manufactured in the Orient. Most mass produced humidors, even the quality Savoy line by Ashton, are manufactured overseas...in China. If you want a custom/U.S.A made humidor, then expect to shell out a HELL of a lot more dough than a simple $160. There is a big difference between being patriotic and being ignorant, my friend. It's not like it's being advertised to be on par with an Elie Bleu humidor, which can cost THOUSANDS of dollars. That being said, this is a beautiful humidor! The weathered, tarnished look is very masculine and it does a great job at being noticed. The Spanish cedar interior is thick, and no obvious shortcuts in quality are apparent. The seal is nice and tight, and it does its intended job of safely storing/aging my cigars. I would definitely recommend this model to anyone that is looking for something a little different than most traditional humidors, but doesn't want to bruise the credit card doing so. It's a winner in my book.

If I had known this product was "made in China" I probably would not have purchased it. It is not 1st rate construction - you can either close the box with the latches in place or lock the box - you cannot do both as it is not properly aligned. It's an interesting look - "weathered" wood with "battered" metal is just the contrived appearance - the wood is made to look weathered and the battered metal is nothing more than strips of metal that have been painted and tacked on to the box. The guts of the humidor appear fine however - nice cedar lining, trays, and dividers - humidifier & hygrometer work fine - it seems to do the job that a humidor was meant to do, so rather than go thru the hassle of returning it for some other "made in China" model, I'll just keep it. But, I don't believe it was worth $160. When I'm ready for a larger humidor, you can be certain I won't be buying it online.
