Quesada Keg

Turn your humidor into a kegerator!

Figuratively speaking of course. But you can claim to once you stuff it to the gills with Manuel Quesada’s next pairing marvel, simply dubbed, Keg. Coming in only one size, a 6” x 50 toro, Keg was crafted to pair with those dark and flavorful Irish stouts. Teaming up with legendary tobacco grower Nestor Plasencia, it took the Quesada clan months of searching before they pin-pointed the perfect blend for the challenge, and the result was nothing short of fantastic.

Keg boasts ripe notes of dark chocolate, pepper, and a slight floral note that meld perfectly with those famed Irish stouts. Packaged in a miniaturized beer barrel shaped box with a shamrock shining on the lid, this blend is primed for St. Patrick’s Day. As for the blend, it features a super-fermented, dark Pennsylvania Broadleaf wrapper cloaking a binder and long-fillers hailing from Nicaragua. At last, you have found your lucky charms!

Heavy Smoke that Needs a Drink
On the first draw, I get heavy notes of black pepper, which can be unpleasant. You will need something to drink with this as the taste is harsh on the tongue. I took a different approach to the stout beer and had a Starbucks Nitro Brew coffee, which has that cascading stout appearance - not a bad combo! But, this is not my go-to smoke; I have to decide if I want such a heavy smoke. Dark wrapper, draw is tight, burns evenly, slightly shorter than a corona size. But, be honest - I bought this for the display, imagining the days when you can open a jar and grab a cigar for a quarter at a bar (I think they did that in Westworld). I may keep the keg stocked with other brands and bring out at parties (note shorter stick size above). My keg came all black and without a shamrock, though (Bovida pack included). I suppose one could repaint it with anything they want.
