Taking a step into the right direction, Altadis decided to reach out to AJ Fernandez to create yet another cigar for them. The Onyx Bold Nicaragua was one of the finest examples of Nicaraguan tobacco you could ever smoke, and with the success of the Montecristo 1935, the Edicion Diamente, and the many other AJ blends under Altadis’ portfolio, it was a wise choice for Altadis to return to AJ to bring Onyx back!

The Onyx Vintage Nicaragua starts with a Habano wrapper from the 2019 harvest, in addition to fillers and a binder from Nicaragua. The aged wrapper provides a rich and hearty flavor, with notes of pepper, cedar, earth, and breadiness ringing through. Refined, yet powerful, the Onyx Vintage Nicaragua is an amazing expression of the passion behind cigars, one that I wholeheartedly recommend to you.

Discovered these a few months ago at my local shop and they immediately became one of my go-to's. When the price was right on a box here, I didn't hesitate. It's rare to get a medium-full strength that smokes this creamy. This is a beautiful stick.

As an avid AJ fan, how TF did I miss this beauty?! The man is a living legend and hands down the greatest artist in the cigar industry. Although I have many other favorites ie, Pepin Garcia, Ramon Bueso and Drew Estate (traditional cigars, not flavored), AJ has never disappointed since the very early years. This Onyx is yet another testimony of the man’s love and passion for cigars as well as his customers who continue to enjoy the vast array of his products. These have burned evenly, producing huge amounts of smoke and flavors that mesh perfectly with each puff! Another classic masterpiece from the GOAT!
