Well it did not come with instructions which is poor but if you read 10 or more reviews you figure out the secret to light it. Fill it with butane of course then push the safety button on the side and roll your figure up to pop open the top. While keeping the safety button depressed you roll your thumb down and out away from the lighter. The lighter button does not go straight down. It hinges out and down if the safety button is depressed at the same time.. rolling the thumb is the trick.

Works good. Can take a few tries to light but once it does it lights the cigar quickly and evenly.

Difficult to operate. No instructions included. Once your familiar with it works ok.

Pros: Free, large reservoir and large window to view fuel Cons: Hard to operate due to safety device on lid and igniter button and lid made it hard to light large ring cigars. I removed the lid and the lighter is much more usable. I would not recommend removing the lid from a butane lighter if you carry it in a pocket or purse. I leave this one on my work bench.

Thjs came free with an order so the price was right. The lighter works well but it was a bit tricky to figure out how to get it to light--finally figured out that you had to run you thumb upwards on the side switch, then quickly move your thumb onto the main top switch, then depress it downward. It's probably safer and it's not bad once you figure out how to get it to light.

This is a lighter I would not recommend. Safety mechanism to open it and then again to ignite the flame. It has to be adjusted just right for the flame to stay going long enough to light your cigar. I use it for a backup when my trusty Macanudo lighter runs out of butane.

Childproof yes! Nearly adult proof

While it's true that you get what you pay for, I have paid for a whole bunch of these. I lose lighters so it makes no sense for me to buy expensive ones. These work. They can be had for pennies during the numerous CI specials. I like the sight glass for checking the fluid level before I leave home and I have had a lot of fun handing them to a buddy and watching them struggle to try to light it because of the child proof safety lock. I tell them that it's a puzzle and if they can't figure it out they don't get to smoke. Once you know the trick it's not a problem.

5 STARS!! FANTASTIC!! Yes, strong safety feature. To light it...I just set crease of my thumb into edge of safety tab, push in, then while still holding in, with top of thumb I quickly pull toward me...and bingo!...lights every time. You do have to get the "knack" of it. BUT wait...it works in freezing cold weather...absolutely marvelous! (I've only heard rumors some lighters work in cold weather.) Single jet flame easily accomplishes what the quad-jet lighters do. 5 STARS...six if I could grant it. Consumes very little fuel. Can EASILY see fuel level!

I dig this lighter. Strong safety feature, strong flame and the flame single flame actually toasts very well. The only drawback is the construction. I got this lighter for free with an order and the casing of the lighter seems a little cheap. However, I'm not throwing these against the wall on a regular basis. A great lighter and I'd recommend it.

It's hard to use. Hard to light. Wont stay lit. You have to read the instructions and purge it or it won't light. It's cheap though. I guess its worth what you pay for.

Don't much care for the lighter. To difficult to open and especially to operate. Lighter has to lay on it's side's because design is too awkward to stand upright. To me it's difficult to refill and finding an adapter to refill is impossible.

Simple. Easy to use. Had to get the right butane and gentleman at my local cigar shop showed me how to fill it. Great for the price!

You can't go wrong with a Moretti brand. Nice smooth look and feel. Best part, above average lighting technique makes it unique and everyone will know its yours.

Haven't had a problem with it, however the lock on the lid to the lighter takes some getting used to and the safety on the Ignitor definitely takes some practice. If you have kids this one would be pretty safe around them.

I purchased 3, 2 as gifts and 1 for myself. All 3 wouldn't work after being filled. 3 different types of fuel, 3 different people filling them. All had the same results....no spark, no flame.

Nice lighter,only it`s a little hard to work,the way they have it set up,and the flame burns the top, but for the price,it`s fine.

Unit has a safety to open the fliptop and a safety to press down on the gas lever. VERY frustrating. I super glued the safety in the open position and now it works much more smoothly. Would be perfect without the safety.

Safety device makes it hard to operate. It actually takes practice...and the lighter is not good enough to warrant practice. It will be my “travel-lighter”....meaning I will be OK if TSA takes it from me at security.

The product is good for an inexpensive lighter. It sometimes takes a couple of tries to open and light because of the design. Fine for in my golf bag or around the campfire. Thanks:)

This lighter is difficult to fill and to operate. It is practically impossible to operate the lighter with one hand. Also, the adjustment for the flame does not seem to operate correctly. Definitely a poor design.

For a jet torch it falls on it's face most of the time. Doesn't always light. When it does it usually stays lit for 3 seconds and goes out. The lid doesn't open far enough.

This thing is harder to operate than a Chinese puzzle box. I mean seriously, there's a safety on opening the lid, there's a funky push-in-to-click down the striker and by then your finger in the back pushed down the lid because the controls are not well thought out. Forget trying to drive and light, you'll lose your eyebrows. On the bright side, if you or a friend you know want to quit smoking THEN buy this lighter because you'll never be able to operate it to smoke again. STUPID LIGHTER. I'm serious. You'll think it's a gag gift for how bad it works.

I'm assuming the way they make it, is for it to be childproof, but you had to really figure it out. Next, the flame should have been placed more outward. When lighting a 60 gauge cigar, it becomes a task.

This lighter works fine, and has good tank size, but needs another flame. Lighting a cigar or pipe with a single torch is too time consuming.

Once you get used to the locking mechanism, it's a nice piece. Just wish the kid would go back a little more.

This is a nifty looking little lighter and I really wanted to like it. We ordered two; one worked (sort of) and the other was flat out dead. The thumb catch is a little wonky too; I think it's a safety thing or something, but you have to really work at it to get to the click. Truly sorry to have little positive because the size and feel are good; just wished it worked better.

kind of hard to light but after i mastered it, a good everyday lighter

This lighter will catch things on fire, which is ultimately what you're looking for. It is a cheap lighter made with cheap plastics. The lid and lighting mechanism is weird and cumbersome. The jet on mine works best between mid and max setting which you will need a precision screwdriver to adjust and it still gasses out frequently. It will light and re-light instantly once you figure it out.

This lighter works well like it was touted. Refills are easy, flame is sufficient for even the big ring gauges and price was great! Ha! Love it.

For the price I cant complain too much but it does not stay lit well and some times has trouble lighting in the first place.

I definately enjoy the powerful torch, however it doesnt stay lit most of the time. For the price it is definately worth buying!

The only complaint is that the child lock is really really good and this adult has some issues with it often...LOL. However, for what I paid for it I should not complain about anything. This is one heck of a lighter.

Cool lighter. Hard to use because of the what I'm assuming to be, childproof feature. Awkward to hold that down and light the torch. Minus that feature, and it's a 5 star.

It's good to have when your better lighters aren't around. It's not easy to operate but it will get the job done with patience.

As a longtime cigar enthusiast I have purchased and used multiple lighters, both soft flame and torch (single, double, triple flame, etc). This lighter performs well and has proven to be durable, it has not failed in two years of many golf rounds and beach trips and vacations. The one aspect I find to be a small nuisance is the end cap doesn't open far enough to provide you the most access to the flame. This is pretty minor considering you toast the foot of the cigar with the tip of the flame, but still I would prefer it open wider. Sorry I know that is slightly petty!

Worst lighter that I own. You can't light it with one hand, even when you have the cap open. This thing is childproofed to a ridiculous level.

2 lighters bought. Both lighters leaked out butane fluid within day or two. One lighter lit but lost fluid quickly. Other lighter only lit at e second intervals. I don't recommend.

Hard to fill

This is a terrible lighter. I was lucky if it would stay lit for more than 2 seconds. It will light and as soon as you move to put the flame up to a cigar it goes out.

Very bad design. Top does not open easily and you have to attempt a few times always to get the flame to light and it goes out fast and redo again.

Proof that all fire makers are not created equal. Received a couple of these as part of a deal and they are okay but nothing to write home about. Having said that, they do make good pass around lighters when the crew drops by for an afternoon of cigars and beverage. Would I buy them outright, no. But as a freebie bonus...sure.

Got this as a last minute deal after my original purchase. Saw some mixed reviews on here and not sure how/why people are having issues. If you can't figure out out to open/light then you probably should be playing with fire. I have used it for about 2 months now and works every time. Remember you have to put in the butane fluid in first!

Kid proofed to well. It is a pain in the neck. There are lots of better lighters out there.

I went cheap and it shows. Single jet doesn't work a lot and when it does, it takes forever to toast and light your stick. Also a pain in the neck to add fluid too. Not worth the money in my humble opinion.

you need opposable thumbs to use this one. took me a day to figure how to open it and then get it lit. After that, I have used one for a year and hope I dont jinx it but it has been very dependable. Just refill it when it gets below half empty and there are no problems. this would be a bargain at $10 for me but they are going for less than that
