An affordable gem from FuenteThere's a few brands that can regularly be found in the CI ashtrays. While we have to burn new cigars as they come in (tough job, right?), there's some perennial favorites that pop up week to week without a doubt. I wish I could tell you Fuente was in there, but, the high-end premiums from them are a little too rich for our blood. Luckily, Montesino exists. Although slightly different in taste than the regular Fuente line, the smooth and mellow Montesinos are a nice value. Handmade with Connecticut shade or Connecticut Broadleaf wrappers, Nicaraguan binders and Dominican long-filler leaves. Add a box of these to your cart, and enjoy the experience of the Fuente family techniques without taking a second mortgage.
It is an overall smooth draw with a mild foot, the body gets spicy with cinnamon and nutmeg notes and leading into the finish are toasty flavors. It burned even and the ash wasnt too long, the ash color was light. Over all I would call this light and spicy.
great cigar
I forgot about these. I received one in a sampler two years ago, liked it and ordered a box. When I went to order my second box they were out of stock and after checking numerous times, gave up and forgot about them. Recently a friend gave me a box of Robusto's - natural wrapper. They are great. Now, these are manufactured by Fuente, which explains the shortages, and have the excellent construction characteristics for which Fuente is known. This is a light cigar, mild as to taste and body. I'm told that Montesino hasn't change their blend in nearly 40 years and has a world wide following. This is a wonderful cigar for the first of the day, especially with a clean pallet; and as I wouldn't some an Oliva V, Ashton VSG, etc. as the first cigar of the day on an empty stomach, likewise I wouldn't smoke the Montesino as the last of the day after three or four cigars. It would tast like so much hot air. Get them while you can.
These are pretty good. If you want a real Montesino grab some of the "Cabinet Series" as they have a sungrown wrapper. Now that is a cigar to savor!!!
Hard to believe that a cigar as mild and smooth as the Montesino can have so much good flavor. A friend gave me 3 toro's, I smoked them, I enjoyed the heck out of them so now I'm buying a box as soon as CI gets their shipment in.
Montesino Diplomatico, maduro wrapper. The perfect golf cigar, regardless of your round!
