Mac Baren 7 Seas Red Pipe Tobacco

This tobacco is part of the Mac Baren value line of aromatics. Purchased from CI and shipped expeditiously. Upon opening the tin you see a blend of loose cut Burley, Virginia and a small amount of black Cavendish. Has above average moisture. The aroma is strong cherry with the advertised fruit undertone. Packing was okay. Char light noted little expansion due to the moisture. The smoking experience is fairly smooth and agreeable, with a slight cherry flavor that cherry lovers will indeed find very appealing. This tobacco tends to burn slightly hot and when you retrohale you get a sensation of fruitiness and a fuller smoking experience. Care is required not to be too aggressive as it has a slight bite if you overdo it. Overall, smoking experience is above average and a very good cherry blend that I believe runs neck and neck with Mac Baren's upscale Cherry Ambrosia. Care is needed or it will definitely gurgle in the pipe and leave a soppy dottle as a present, thus costing it a full 5-star rating. The room note is above average and tends to be a bit heavy. A great crowd-pleaser, so it is sure to be attractive as an all-day smoke for lovers of cherry tobacco. Overall, this is a 4-star tobacco that offers a really good value and compares very favorably to CB, Velvet, BR and other brand dominators at a fraction of the price. I smoke all 5 of the 7 Seas line regularly and this one rates number 4 overall. This is definitely worth a try for beginners and aromatic lovers alike.

Red Blend is the 7 Seas line's version of a cherry aromatic and when you open the tin, you indeed smell cherries and a liquor that brings out even more interesting aromas. The tobacco has above average moisture, is golden with brown bits of loose cut tobacco. The tobacco needs a rest before packing. It has a bit of problem staying lit due to the moisture, so a bit of care is required. The smoking experience is very smooth and the flavor is a mild cherry compared to the tin aroma, with the sweetness of the Virginia shining on thru. This is a really good cherry smoking experience on par with CB Cherry, Paladin, Cherry Ambrosia and other up brand products to be sure. Like most cherry flavored tobaccos I have tried, care is need to prevent a gurgling pipe and a hint of bite awaits those who are greedy smokers - sip it and enjoy it! The room note is solid cherry and quite pleasant. People who do not smoke tobacco will find it to be rather engaging and pleasant. This makes the Red Blend a really good overall cherry flavored pipe tobacco that gives what it says and doesn't go over the top with the flavoring. Overall this is a 4-star to 5-star blend that novice or aromatic/flavored tobacco enthusiasts will find to be very appealing. This is a good smoke I keep in rotation along with the rest of the 7 Seas line. These are all excellent tobaccos that will not disappoint.
