Mac Baren 7 Seas Gold Pipe Tobacco

This is a golden Cavendish loose cut blend that includes Burley and Virginia tobaccos along with the Cavendish processed tobacco (I assume Virginia). Upon opening you note a kind of vanilla and fruity aroma I can't quite put a finger on, but delightful for sure. Tobacco is golden brown with average moisture. The 3-part packing went without anything to note. The char light promises a smooth experience. This tobacco is a great smoke - smooth, with an undertone of vanilla to go with the Burley and Virginia components. The tobacco is very mellow with no bite, yet if you sip it gently the medium hot burn is not an issue. Very little dottle or excess moisture noted. A great smoke for beginner and aromatic lover, alike. The room note is very appealing and complex, with a rich tobacco smell accompanied by hints of vanilla that non-smokers will appreciate. Definitely an all-day smoke. I routinely enjoy all of the tobaccos in the Mac Baren 7 Seas line. Overall, this one rates number 3 out of the 5: (1) Black Blend; then (2) Royal Blend; then (3) Golden; then (4)/(5) Regular and Red. This a a great tobacco to try, is priced very reasonably and would be acceptable. Not on my all-time go-to list, but one that I enjoy in rotation. You will too. This tobacco is a light brown Cavendish blend with a vanilla flavoring added to a mix of Burleys and Virginias. Upon opening you get the vanilla and some kind of other complex fruitiness that speaks to a very aromatic tasty potential smoking experience. It appears to be a loose cut tobacco having average moisture. The 3-part packing was without any issues. Char light showed small expansion of tobacco. Relight was smooth without a lot of relighting required. The tobacco is very mellow with no bite to it at all. Burns okay, not too hot. The vanilla flavor is there, but the Burley seems more prevalent to me on retrohale than the other blends in the 7 Seas line. In terms of smoking experience compared to the other 4 contenders in the 7 Seas line up, I'd rate this one number 3 (Black, Royal, Gold, Regular and lastly, Red). The smoking experience is one a beginner will appreciate and aromatic lovers like me will keep coming back to over time. All-time go-to? No, not really, but it stays in my rotation as it is that good for sure. The room note is mellow, engaging and not overpowering with vanilla and some kind of sweetness in the aroma that is sure to please most people who don't smoke pipes. This is an all day smoke to be sure. Bottom line: another great Mac Baren tobacco priced below market leaders that provides real value that you will find very acceptable. Like the rest of the 7 Seas line, it is in my rotation and I will continue to enjoy it. Pick up a tin and experience a good blend from a master blender. Mac Baren consistently delivers a good product you can count on and 7 Seas Gold is one of those products.
