A delightful classic by Drew Estate!LVH Fumas by Drew Estate are handmade in Esteli, Nicaragua and offer gorgeous packaging and - despite SCHIP tax increases - remains a good value. The Connecticut Shade is the most mellow of the LVH Fumas blends. Dressed in a true Connecticut Shade wrapper, one that's silky and smooth, this blend combines a mixed-filler combination of Nicaraguan tobaccos from Esteli and the Jalapa Valley. The result is a mellow blend with creamy, smooth nuances including toasty notes of earth and coffee.
These are my favorite smokes this year! 5x54 or 6x54. Drew Estates quality & flavor at a good price.
Love these cigars, one of my favorites!
I am a big fan of Drew Estate cigars. Starting with Blondie 15 years ago, nearly every blend I have tried has been impressive. However, I am not a fan of mixed filler cigars. I have avoided them religiously, thinking they would be soft in construction, burn irregularly or somehow just fall apart while smoking. Enter La Vieja Habana Connecticut & all those fears fall by the wayside. If you didn't know this was a mixed filler stogie, I doubt you would know after smoking one. Double capped, firm, somewhat heavy in the hand, LVHC features an Equadorian shade leaf wrapper over Nicaraguan mixed filler. It is mild & smooth, with an even burn. Perhaps the way the ash falls off after about 1/2", would be the tip off as to the length of the filler. Otherwise, it performs as well as just about any long filler cigar. It's tasty too. A bit mild for my personal taste, nonetheless, flavorful with hints of mild spice. This would be fine as the 1st vitola of the day or with a cup of strong coffee. Easy to recommend to mildheads or those looking for a bargain. The price point is reasonable, the construction good, the burn consistent. All in all, typical of the quality of Drew Estate offerings. 89/100
The best mixed-filler cigar on the planet, period!
Great smoke! Good strength without overpowering, good draw, good taste. I grab these by the handfuls and keep several in my glove box (I know, I know)...always ready if I ask someone to join me in a smoke! One of my favorites!
This was my first order from CI. Wow! This cigar is amazingly smooth for the price. My "go to" mild was the San Cristobal Elegancia but this one may take over 1st place. I let them set in humidor for a day or so and first one smoked lit well, burned even, no touch ups required and tasted and smelled great. Will definitely be a repeat customer on this cigar. Thanks CI.
I first tried this cigar 5 or 6 yrs ago when i went to go see my dad in Florida... Been smoking them ever since :)
I have been a customer of CI now for 5 yrs. I have tried many different cigars. I had never tried the Drew Estate line because his infused blends never interested me in the least. I decided to try his non infused cigars and I must say I was pleasantly surprised. The LVH conneticut shade Fumas were a dellight to smoke. Mild and ever so tasty. I smoked six in one day and that is a first for me. I will be buying more of these in the future!
The cigars arrived today, and no I did not wait for them to rest. I wanted a new smoke for a beautiful summer evening. Appearance- well constructed, veiny wrapper, it felt a little soft to me. (That resting thing in the humidor would help this.) Easy to light(wooden matches), it seemed a little harsh from the start. About 1/4 inch in the creaminess came through and the harshness was gone. A pleasant smoke. The ash was perfect- no tunneling or canoeing. The ash only fell off when it got too long (about 1.5") I generally smoke Maduros, so this one seems mild to me. Others may call it a medium. Once it reached the sweet spot there was a touch of vanilla through to the finish. A pleasant smoke for a relaxing evening. I will buy more of these.
My hat off to Drew Estate, a beautifull cigar (LVH Fumas - Connecticut Shade) and a brillant way to package it, I bought the corona's they are the perfect size for me, not to big not to small, and they are made to perfection all 20 cigars look amazing and the conn. wrapper is flawless, These beauties light easy, have a great draw and burn even with a medium gray ash, I do like a stronger cigar every now and then but I know I can smoke a cigar like this and never get that light headed feeling, next im going to try the maduro, these cigars will always have a home in my humidor, If you like a mild smoke give these a try you won't be sorry and wait till you see the box and the way they package the cigars,,,VERY COOL.
Great cigar, my favorite.(La Vieja Habana Fumas Connecticut) As said, smooth, easy to smoke and I'm not good at saying what flavors or hints are there, I just know what I like.
Ordered a box of the La Vieja Connecticut by Drew Estate. After a few days resting in the humidor I fired one up and was immediately impressed by the smooth draw and mild to medium body of this cigar. Just a hint of spice keeps it interesting, along with some nice woodsy notes. It reminds me of the Davidoff Grand Cru #2 which is a $12.00 cigar.
