La Traviata by CAO

A round of applause for La Traviata

La Traviata, an old Cuban brand, and an even older three act Italian opera by Giuseppe Verdi. This cigar is a stunning showstopper. Draped in an exquisite Ecuadoran Havana wrapper and filled with perfectly balanced Nicaraguan and Dominican tobaccos, La Traviata is a favorite among many cigar enthusiasts. This medium-bodied handmade made the Top 25 Premium Cigars of the Year list by Cigar Aficionado not once, but twice! A well-performing beauty of a cigar also earned a well-deserved 93-rating for its full and complex Cuban-esque flavor. La Traviata, a worldwide best-seller, should definitely be in your humidor.

Not bad for the price. Moderate burn issues on most stopped me from giving a higher rating.

CAO never disappoints!!
For the price, this is a spectacular offering from CAO, *especially* if you catch them on sale! Pretty solid medium body throughout, it actually gets a bit more intense in the final 1/3, but I do not recommend for fans of fuller bodied stogies. A playful amount of spice lingers throughout the entire duration of La Traviata, as well as a constant note of toast. The 2nd half, a faint sweetness creeps in, along with subtle notes of cocoa. Final 1/3 is my favorite, as the cocoa becomes more prominent and is complimented by notes of almonds - what I assume others probably to refer to as “Cubanesque”. All in all, this is a very solid smoke, particularly when you consider the quality/price point ratio. CAO should be very proud of creating such a nice, affordable smoke with the La Traviata. Bravo! Encore! Etc... :)

Good flavored smoke just wrapped too tight.I’ve smoked three of the 24 and two out of those three the wrapper split, the draw was very hard. Hopefully the rest of the box is not this way!

This cigar had my full attention from the the first draw. Smooth as silk with notes of caramel and cashews and changes in depth and flavour throughout the smoke. No bite right down to the nub. A must try.

Average sticks
Not much from CAO thrills my palate, but we’ll see how they age in the humidor. These are ok at the $65-80 per box price range.

Best Cigar for the Money
Beautiful wrapper, well constructed with smooth draw, La Traviata, in addition to being my favorite opera, is better than many much more expensive cigars. It has a very well balanced flavor with good depth.

Underestimated
This is a top smoke for everyday! I love The body, the aroma, and the complex flavors of this habano. Toro is the perfect size IMO. Good weight in the hand, burns even, nice ash. Love these!

Excellent Smoke
These cigars have a taste I enjoy. They are made a bit inconsistently, in that some do not burn evenly. Most do, however. The inconsistent ones require a lot of trimming.

One of my new Favoritos
A truly cuban-esque smoke. Just the right balance of toast, cream and spice. Rolled well and burns evenly. Perfect size for a 75-90 min leisurely smoke. Overall, CAO virtually never disappoints. Best value out there for cigars IMO (best quality for the price).

Another good CAO cigar!
I picked up a box of La Traviata cigars during a sale and have been quite impressed with the medium flavor with nice burn from these cigars. If you haven’t tried these, you should at least break down and pick up a 5-pack to do yourself a flavor favor!

Classic CAO
La Traviata started out for me in a sampler and it was love at first puff. A rich and tasty medium bodied smoke with lots of flavorful smoke. It is a classic Nic/Dom blend of long fillers that tastes like cocoa and hints at espresso. It has a solid construction and even draw - producing a nice ash. This smoke burns evenly and does not disappoint in any way. CAO has a cavalcade of hits in its arsenal and it is always fun to try any of them. The house of CAO does right by the cigar enthusiast and La Trviata exemplifies it to a T. I think I will burn one now, so if you excuse me while I retrieve one from my humidor ... Yum!
