Get on up on this Habano!
The HC Habano Colorado is the HC line’s piece de resistance. Boldly leading the way, this impressive cigar comes equipped with an oily and stunning chocolate brown wrapper from the Jalapa Valley of Nicaragua. Underneath awaits a core of tobaccos from Costa Rica, Jalapa, and Honduras. These well-aged tobaccos work seamlessly in creating a medium to full-bodied delight delivering truckloads of flavor. The smooth and rich experience is further accentuated by notes of pepper, leather, and a tad of sweetness. The HC Habano Colorado has garnered much deserved praise: earning an impressive '92' rating, as well as 'Top 25 Cigars of the Year' honors.
Here’s what the critics had to say: “A dark, oily, gorgeous cigar that shows its strength from the first puff. It is a peppery, leathery smoke with a black cherry note on the finish.”
I smoked it following a stuffed chicken breast, mash potatoes and green bean dinner. This was a very smooth smoke. Burn was even and got a slight pepper about half an inch into the cigar. Flavor of leather built slightly and transitioned at about halfway into the second third. Mild pepper returned going into the final third and subsided again. Nice smooth finish. I smoked it to a nub.
I've got to weigh in on 'HC Habano'. I am a fan of Xikar HC series, from having smoked the smaller ring gauges. They were all enjoyable, however the Gordo size is a "horse of a different color". My opinion is that CI should promote this size more. I am a seasoned smoker, and know of what I speak. This is a great smoke! The Habano wrapper is gorgeous, and the taste of this large ring cigar is comparable to some of the higher rated cigars. I had one in my humidor, don't know how long. I know it was well seasoned. Perhaps that is the key, larger ring gauges usually take longer to season (my opinion). The first nice day after a challenging winter, this was my first choice. Very, very Good. More than advertised Medium-Full, very close to Full. Used a cigar punch on this one, perfect choice for this size. Excellent draw, lot of smoke, great taste. Put it down 3 times, and relight perfect every time. I had to comment on this one. Now I will go out and finish a great experience! As usual "Thanks again CI"
This is an absolutely terrific smoke for the price. I've had Habano's that were double the price, but not half as good as this one. One of the best values for dollar I've ever had. Highly recommended!
Got a Gordo size in my HC sampler instead of a robusto and was thrilled! Good cigar with lots of smoke and lasted me an hour and a half. I didnt put it down other than to move my stuff aroud. Didn't taste any pepper really, but more leather notes. Perfect for an afternoon smoke.
I got some of these in a sampler and am glad I did. I wasn't expecting these to be very good since they were practically free, but holy cow am I hooked. I refuse to share these with anyone so if you want em, you better buy em all before I do!
