I have smoked quite a few cigars over the past 6 years and this one is by far my favorite. I read the reviews and was a tad worried that I'd have to wait to smoke once these sticks arrived, but I took a chance day one right off the mail truck and it was superb! I haven't had a bad one yet. My boyfriend is a cigar "snob" and he loves them as well. The name IS a bit funny, but for a female cigar smoker, you just can't beat the humor. These cigars burn well, taste well, and are very well constructed. Just bought my second box!
My neighbor would purchase these quite a bit, mostly because he was on a strict budget. I would usually smoke my faves, but one time he offered a FC. I smoked it and thought, "Hey, these are ok." So...recently I purchased a box of these and put 'em away in the Humi. Now, when I want to get away from my full-bodied smokes, I reach for a FC, an American lager and I'm happy. And of course, there is the price point. I like having these milder smokes handy. They produce plenty of smoke and they are tasty. I recommend that you have some of these in your Humi for those days when a milder, yet tasty smoke is desired.
Yep - I'm satisfied. This is a great $2 cigar. What else can I say except I'll always have a few of these in my humi.
My new go to cigar. I love Nicaraguan cigars, but cannot really afford my favorite puros right now, so I thought I would give these a try. So far, I've been seriously impressed with these. I have smoked about half of the bundle I received last month, and their flavor, draw, build, and quality has been both consistent and excellent. You can't ask for more from a budget cigar. I'll be ordering more.
I keep these stocked in my humidor all the time now. Can't beat the price.
I agree with many others here-- This is an excellent cigar and superior value. Draw is good, flavor is good, smells good. I had very little issue with uneven burn and no issue with the wrapper. All this and a box, too? Heck, the only negative I can come up with is the label can be difficult to remove. These will have a regular reservation in my humidor.
A little rougher like a sub $1 cigar. No visible defects, burned evenly. Just nothing to write home about vs other $30 boxes
It's a decent stick. Pepper, cream, coffee, and oak throughout... and it has a decent burn for the most part. Can't hate on it. Pair it with a single malt.... sweet!

A decent smoke for the price. I'm a newbie to cigars but can say that I don't find these to be complex on any level regardless of the CI review. But for a simple day-to-day smoke, they are really pretty good for the price. Other reviews may tell you about a better brand for the same price. I can't compare at this point. This is currently on my list to re-order based on what I like and price can't be beat. For an everyday smoke, I used to look to the Mark Twain. I still realllllllly like that cigar. But, for 1/2 the price, after a little time in the humi... this could make me consider the chicken scratch.

This was one of my first box purchases. Right out of the box, they had a very slight ammonia smell to them and not the greatest taste. So, I let them age. Now in my humidor for several months, I gave them a try and am glad I did. They perform well and for the price, are a nice smoke. I did not find them very strong in strength at all. Nice and mild. Great any time of the day.
I was looking for an affordable everyday smoker. I do a lot of woodworking in my garage and I like to have a cigar going while I work, I am typically very preoccupied with my work and therefore I am not focused on enjoying the cigar and smoking high end sticks are a waste of money. I was very surprised with these cigars, they stay lit for long periods of inactivity and they burn very even. The flavor is very good for a 2 dollar cigar. I would recommend these for every day smoking, but don't go handing them out at your buddies wedding!
Got these as a joke to share while tailgating at the S. Carolina football games (Gamecocks). They are no joke. A good smoke with an excellent taste. Surprised by the great construction and above par burn. I will have to order more since they are now an everyday smoke and not just for the weekends.
I ordered these on a whim, mostly to get the free lighter. Like some others, I was expecting little from the cigars. Turns out I got a worthless lighter and discovered a good cigar. They have all burned slow and even, are well constructed, and they taste great. Good tobacco and pepper is all my novice palate can detect, and that is good enough for me. I will definitely buy more.
Just got some in a sampler. Very good off the truck. Getting better and better as they age. Just ordered a box!
What a great stick! Well made and classic flavor. When searching for an affordable, everyday smoke, this was one of the first to pop up. Smooth, easy draw, easy light, nice ash, and the flavor isn't bad either. This could easily pass for a $4 stick. Well done!

A great knockaround cigar. Not the best I've had, but far from the worst. And they're cheap enough that I can share one or two during the summer in the evening while playing cornhole and enjoying a beer.
A mild smoke. Good flavor, but not very complex. A good yard smoke or breakfast smoke, something to give to your friends who don't smoke much. A good step up if you are moving away from connecticuts and super mild smokes.

This is a perfectly decent cheap cigar. No, scratch that, this is a great cheap cigar. The quality of construction at this price point is pretty amazing. Every one I have smoked has burned evenly and had a good draw. The thing that struck me the most about these Fighting Cocks was their smoothness. They smoke right down to the nub without ever getting harsh on the lips or mouth. The flavor isn't going to blow you away, but it is not a bland cigar at all. There is enough flavor there to appreciate, and the last half gets surprisingly spicy/peppery, while still being smooth. All around an enjoyable smoke, nothing amazing, unless you consider the price. I've smoked plenty of $5.00+ cigars that aren't as good as this.
I've smoked 3 boxes of them and never been disappointed. Great taste, burns well and lasts a long time. A well made cigar that is always stocked in my humidor. Thanks CI for introducing me to another great cigar. Donny
I tried a box of Fighting Cock because of a special that included a Xikar lighter & was very pleased with the cigar! I think it is on the lighter side of medium, but very flavorful for the incredible price per stick! I will always be keeping a box on hand in one of my humidors for an everyday smoke. Oh, by the way, after reading your review of the cigar & your worry about some whack job animal rights group complaining; I would just tell them to stick a "Fighting Cock" up where the sun don't shine! That will keep 'em guessing!
Occasionally my wife will hit my cigar just to check it out (she recently quit cigarettes). The other day she hit the Fighting Cock I was smoking and asked if I had one she could smoke. I gave her one and she LOVED it! I just ordered a box because I only had a couple left from the sampler I bought and hey, I don't want her smoking my last one! Great cigar!
Ordered a box of Fighting Cock cigars (churchill) from CI recently (10/2012). While on the “mild” side of medium, they do have a decent flavor for my tastes. The wrapper is much thinner than my normal stogie – which means this is NOT a chomping cigar. The ashes do tend to flake some as it is not as tight a roll as most of my cigars. The draw was easy from start to finish. I did find it getting a bit harsher after mid-burn but not overly so. There have been a couple of sticks that needed to be relit around mid-burn as well. Will definitely continue to keep some in my humidor for friends and when I want that “off” smoke for a bit. And the price is phenomenal for a hand rolled cigar – thanks to CI!!!

I'm with the other reviewers - did not expect much out of these (torpedo), and my curiosity made me fire one up one day after arrival. I'm smoking this with my Saturday morning coffee, and am surprised at the amount of flavor it offers for such an inexpensive stick. CI's review is correct, but this one is far from mild (which is a good thing). Perhaps because it's ROTT. Very nice, very tasty - I'll not hesitate to buy these again when the price is right.
I jumped on these based mostly on the price, because I am the cheapest sob on earth. But you know what? These friggin' sticks are AWESOME!! Not very heavy construction wise, they will burn up pretty fast, but mercy, they have nice flavor and really surprised me. I have had much, much worse at twice the price. Get a few and give them a chance. I did and was not disappointed.
The old FC was, as I and others noted, a very intense cigar whose strength equalled or surpassed anything I have ever smoked. It came at you, then kept coming, getting tougher all the way, leaving you wondering what hit you, and why it hurt so good. The new FC, on the other hand, is really a lover, not a fighter. It is a mild and pleasant cigar that perhaps needs some time to sit to get to it's full flavor and burn potential. I've not had them long enough to know for sure. It is a good cigar. But it is a mild cigar, in my opinion. The earlier reviewers were not delusional, they were simply smoking a completely different cigar...
I will have to give these a go based on the reviews. I've been up and down the price ranges and have pretty much settled into my dozen or so go to smokes. I have not had too much luck trying to dive down in the price range for something that interests me. Perhaps these are different. It is very rare that you don't get what you pay for, but sometimes you can be surprised.
Stopped by the Nazareth Pike store after Cigarfest 5/4 (if you missed that, sucks to be you!). Bought two boxes of robustos on the recommendation of an employee. Seems Nestor Plasentia is now making this cigar. I've opened both and right away I noticed a slight difference in wrapper color. I thought uh oh.... Well after smoking several of each, I am very happy. I was looking for something for every day, something to help me keep my hands off all the kick butt sticks I got at Cigarfest, and I have found a new friend. Surprisingly, the darker of the two boxes came off a little more mellow. More leather and wood than pepper. The lighter one was feisty! Started pepper and stayed that way. Only thing is the lighter one's wrapper was a little thin so is delicate. Other than that, Fighting Cock is a hit with me! Will be keeping these around for sure.
I picked up some of these in the robusto, mostly because of the generally positive but archaic reviews and the price. Smoking the second one right now and I have to admit these babies are a real treat. Not a dense stick, they burn up pretty quick, but these are quality flavors. I'll be darned if I don't enjoy these things as much as product that runs twice the price. Factor in quality, taste and price and you are not going to go wrong here, people. Just don't buy them all please.
I'M NOT a novice puffer and have smoked a many. I went to my usual cigar store to pick up a few. Always looking for something new I stumbled on a big box of CLOSE-OUTS. Laughed at the name Fighting Cock -oh well, why not. Since then I have bought every one I could find at that store. What a great smoke to me. I'm glad CI does have the brand even though it's not made in the PI any more or less. I will be ordering these in the future.Thanks, Love the figurados and Toros.
I was originally turned on to this stick (Fighting Cock) by a buddy at one of my fave cigar haunts in the South Bay. He said to try one -- and like in a scene out of Bugs Bunny when Dafft Duck takes a shot at the bar from Nasty Canasta. I believe I actually turned calico... then a fine chartuese, a complexe clan Mac Gregor -- then back to my basic lovable spring shading [ :) ] Boy was this a pimp slap! This made Nic' tabacco take like Black & Milds. This was a bloody stick... if you equate punch with good stick. This is one the third round antics. A deceptively smoothly rolled wrapper. The Phillipines are now make spicy meatball's! A strong aroma and bold spicy its like BBQ sauce with ash. This kinda spice is nice to have every once in while I won't lie. My rate this stick: 87
The torpedos (Fighting Cock) quickly became my favorite everyday smoke for over a year now. Good draw and great flavor. It's very difficult to find a good 2nd tier cigar to smoke daily. However the last 2 wheels I ordered have had a wrapper problem, they actually started cracking as soon as lit and then explode, almost every stick. I sure hope that problem doesn't persist.
Tried these (Fighting Cock) right after I received the shipment. My wife said they smell like burning hair. I wasn't too impressed. Put them into the humidor and forgot about them until the other day. They lost their "wet hay" smell and transformed into a nice pre-light smelling cigar. After clipping the head and applying the torch, I was greeted by a blast of peppery goodness. The smoke stayed consistent with spicy overtones and hints of earthiness, leather, and sweet cedar. Nice even burn down to the nub. The price is right and if you have the patience to lay these down for a while, you shouldn't be disappointed. Oh, they don't smell like burning hair anymore either.
Just got these (Fighting Cock) today. My wife and I both worked for the same company...guess what. They filed bankruptcy owing us a mint. So...to keep myself in the lifestyle of which I have become accustomed...I had to have some cigars. But now that we are on a budget thought I'd try Fighting Cock. Now normally I prefer Partagas Black, Excalibur 1066 Dark Knights, Indian Tabac or some other bold manly cigar. I've even bought some of the CI Knockoffs (Partagas) and they were awesome. When i first opened these, the scent was not pleasant. Smelled vaguely familiar of that first 'deal' I bought years ago; $60 for $150 cigars...very green...and tasted like grass. I was disappointed but went right outside in the Texas 105 degree heat just to see if I was right. I was Wrong. I clipped off my torpedo, licked and slurped around this puppy like it was an egg and pepper sandwich. Very peppery, mild to medium, medium strength (could feel the nico towards the end...or was that the heat). Over all...I'm impressed. A bit mild for me but for the price I'll smoke every one of them before I buy something else. Ignore the green scent..the aroma and pepper will take you by suprise.
What a surprise! I was looking to fill the humidor with a "cheapie" cigar I could burn a couple a times a day so I took a chance on one of the many value cigars CI has to offer (Fighting Cock). All I've smoked so far have had a really consistant burn, a respectable amount of smoke, and great medium bodied tastes, ending with just a little punch. GREAT GAR FOR THE BUCKS! Hope CI keeps deals like these coming for a long, long time!
This is one damned fine mild to medium bodied cigar (Fighting Cock) that smokes well beyond it's price range. It's flavor and burn remain consistant throughout the smoke with a hint of peppery undertones and an earthy finish. Inexpensive enough to smoke every day and all day, I keep my humidor fully stocked with these cigars.
I made the Fighting Cock my 2005 cigar of the year. This is my everyday cigar. It's cheap and it holds on to it's medium flavor even with a hint of pepper. It burns great and never had a problem with any of the dozen i've smoked.
This cigar(Fighting Cock) has grown on me. Sneaky powerful, I found that it needs some time out of the cello to air a bit, as it is a might strong for a "medium" smoke unless I let 'em breathe some for a few days. Well made, for the most part. I've been smoking the robustos, and a little voice is telling me to try the torpedos next. I hope I'm up to it. These things pack a sucker punch towards the end, and will keep coming at you until you finish them off, just like, well, a fighting cock.
This here is a fine cigar. Name's a little funny, friends crack a joke or two. They ask me what I'm smoking and I say I got a Fighting Cock and they all laugh. Well the jokes on them, cuz there all smoking expensive Macadoodos and I got my hands on a bunch of Fighting Cocks for cheap! Thanks CI!
