Fallen Angel

A slice of heaven from AJ Fernandez.

Fallen Angel. Dark. Mysterious. Powerful. And above all else: delicious. It's also the latest masterpiece from AJ Fernandez. Rolled with care at the legendary Tabacalera Fernandez factory in Esteli, Nicaragua, Fallen Angel is gonna make a believer out of you fast. Real fast.

Beating around the bush just isn't in my nature, so I'm going to cut right to it. This cigar is friggin' fantastic. One of the best I've had from AJ....perhaps ever. Yeah, it's that damn tasty. Just looking at the one perched on my desk gets me all warm and fuzzy. But enough about that, time to get to business. First the wrapper. A dark and glistening Sumatra Ecuadorian Oscuro leaf. Simply stunning. Seamless, soft, and even in color this rare leaf has been cultivated from the plant's highest, most flavorful priming (known as 7th cut). Beneath this impressive leaf, a bold bouquet of AJ's finest Nicaraguan ligero long-fillers are hugged by a rich Habano binder from Ecuador. But the real icing on the cake is a gorgeous box-pressed finish, providing a cool, slow burn. Expect a rustic core of toasted tobacco to complement nuances of black pepper, oak, and leather, as a caramel-like sweetness smacks on the finish. If that wasn't enough, check out the packaging. Each box features a hand-cast Fallen Angel pewter emblem. Magnificent.

From Heaven !
Really nice smoke ! I had heard about them and they lived up to my expectations Great with whisky and rye.

An affordable premium experience
Fallen Angel is indeed flavorful and well constructed. The flavor profile is predominantly rich aged tobacco with some hints of coffee and wood. I only wish there was just a bit more sweetness and complexity. All things considered, I enjoy Fallen Angel for what it is...an affordable premium experience.

eh
I got one of these in the AJ Fernandez sampler. It was beautiful, well made, I love the box pressed look and feel. It was a bit sub-par for what I was expecting though. Nothing notable about the flavor either.

Falling for the Fallen
First I am a sucker for a good box pressed cigar. This one drew me in and enfolded it's wings around me. First the feel is solid without being hard, then the aroma promises a load of flavor. It doesn't disappoint. I wont try to deconstruct the flavor profile for you. I just know it it hit mine in the sweet spot. Full, complex, not too singular in note nor too timid on flavor. Lots of light smoke with a wholesome aroma. The wrapper on a few of mine burned unevenly and I had flyaways. The only knock I can come up with. Overall a solid smoke I keep in my rotation for when I know I need a relaxing, reliable smoke.

Fallen Angel Toro
This was the first time I had tried the Fallen Angel. This was a perfect cigar. From the time the flamed touched it and the aroma filled the air, until the last draw this cigar was smooth and flavorful. would highly recommend this to anyone who has not tried it.

Another AJ Gem!
To start with, the Fallen Angel is quite a specimen to look at: sharply box-pressed, perfectly smooth and seamless wrapper, dark brown and inviting! These babies are well-constructed and burned well. They are quite tasty: leather and woodsie at the start, a little spiciness as the cigar progressed. I got introduced to the Fallen Angel with a five-pack promo. After the first one, I knew this would be in my regular rotation.

A nice surprise!
Very tight roll and solid burn. Smooth tones and a very enjoyable smoke. I will be purchasing more.

love these angels!!!
I didn't think I would like a full flavor cigar this much. I smoke mild-med. most of the time. this was the best cigar of my young career. smooth even draw every time, amazing flavor, the wrapper stayed together and the it burned slow and even. the only negative was the feel of the cigar (rectangle) took some getting use to but after a few minutes even this was ok.

Good but not great..
As the other reviewer already stated, these are well constructed with a nice even burn and rich creamy smoke but they are pretty harsh in my opinion. Lots of heavy spicy pepper notes on the front end that mellow towards the middle. Lots of nice earth notes with a slight chocolatey finish. Not sweet at all. I got a five pack and will smoke em all but may not be back, just a little to rough for me.

Good cigar
Nice cigar. I save 5 stars for those very rare occasions, so 4 is an endorsement and I highly recommend.

Loose wrapper
Very loosely rolled and was not form at all. They burn down really quick. I feel like I paid for the box. Nice smoke, but expected more.

A love affair
Loved this cigar years ago and love it now. I'm a fan. A true treat, especially for the price!

Found wanting
These were very fresh and had to sit in the humidor for a month or so opened. Not my best purchase in value, selection, or availability.

Great Cigar
Great taste burn and draw. Never bites all the way down to the nub.

Box pressed and enjoyable.
It appears long and skinny but has a full flavor and pretty constant burn. I would smoke more if they were a little less expensive.

Bullet proof / Uncrushable
This gets 6 stars for construction and about 2 for flavor in my opinion. The wrapper was perfect, a super deep cap, and wonderful draw (5 stars for that.) There was not only no crackling or stiffness when probed, but I could pinch the thing nearly until my fingers touched and it bounced right back. This thing is a smoke-able spongecake, I've never seen anything like it that wasn't literally a sponge (bonus star.) As Freddie Mercury asked, "Is this the real leaf? Is this the fantasy?" I didn't the think flavor was "quality." For reference I enjoy CAO, Oliva, Macanudo, Arturo Fuente. Time in the humi will help the flavors settle, but I don't think it will get the flavor profile to a place where I'd rate it above 4/10. I'll try again after some aging. I just hope they can breed some flavor into whatever mutant leaf went into this cigar. Medium/full body, generous smoke.

Flawless
These reviews are more fun when you have something to complain about but Fallen Angels are flawless. The flavor's an A- and you want to keep going to the nub. It has ample smoke, the draw is good and the ash is tight. You have to spend a lot to do better.

Good smoke
It's a good easy smooth smoke. Was hoping for it to be a little more harsh but I am not disappointed.

AJ Fernandez Fallen Angel ... Is his best to date
Excellent feel, firm beautiful box press . Wrapper is gorgeous and the cigar is densely packed. The light - wonderful draw .. Easy to light and burns with a razor edge. Flavor profile is medium with immediate chocolate , cedar and earth flavor. The spice is medium and the pepper is medium plus - black pepper on retrohale. Sweet sub notes like a cookie dough and some hints of Caremel. Cigar produces a lot of creamy chewy smoke . The finish is medium and the strength is also medium. Outstanding cigar box worthy I rate it on my scale an 8 of 10.

Fallen Angel
Great smoke. I'm usually not a fan of box-pressed cigars, but for this I'll make a distinct exception. This cigar is a quality stick, perfect construction, though draw is a little open, yet it burns well with a decent ash. It gains in complexity as you near the core. The finish is strong with hints of leather and oak. I would like a bit more sweetness, but I realize that's not for everyone. I have not tossed any of my batch before reaching the nub. That should give a clue as to what a good smoke this is. I will certainly add this one to my humi.

Great stogie! I've smoked several now and they all burn even. will stay lit if you set it down for 5 mins. great leather flavor. all have had a great draw and are long on the finish. Tried the 10 pack and like them so much I bought a box of 20.Something I rarely do. I usually buy sampler Boxes.
