A delicious step up from the traditional Excalibur 1066.
Within the legendary Excalibur 1066 line of Hoyo de Monterrey, one will find the beautiful Dark Knight. This enticing handmade is built with a dark and oily natural Connecticut Havana wrapper. This leaf is thick and chewy, hugging a complex mixture of Dominican, Honduran, and Nicaraguan long-fillers. The result is a bold, medium to full-bodied smoke layered with rich, complex flavors. Expect a chewy, leathery core with hints of coffee, cocoa, and sweet, peppery undertones. When it comes to Excalibur, the Dark Knight is as good as it gets!Produced in four limited production vitolas.
Highly recommend this Maduro. Well rounded, full bodied cigar. Enjoyable smoke from start to finish. Will be keeping these in my circulation of smokes.
Got one of these from a co-worker and it was so good I had to instantly come write a review. I'm a huge fan of Hoyo de Monterrey, especially the "Excalibur", so I had high hopes coming into this one and I was still impressed! Super rich and creamy plumes on every puff, but surprisingly delicious and perfectly mild the whole way through with an almost semi-sweet finish. I was expecting a little bit of pepper but didn't taste any, which was a pleasant surprise. I almost grabbed a box with my order today but decided to wait until my next order, and boy am I regretting that now! Great price for an absolutely incredible cigar. I'm an avid cigar smoker and have tasted a large variety of cigars and this STILL slipped it's way into my top 3 just after one delicious stick!
I'm never unimpressed with CI when it comes to shipment! I decided to buy a box of perhaps my favorite everyday cigar with is the hoyo de monterrey dark knight II, this is an excellent stick in my opinion, one of the first real premium sticks I ever smoked and after many years it still consistently stands in my top 5. Beautiful looking stick, great smoke, great taste and texture. I recommend this to anyone who enjoys a maduro, try it! You will not regret it.
Flawless oily goodness! Better be sitting down with this baby because this one will knock you on your ass!
My go-to after dinner cigar. Even burn, tons of smoke, well built and very smooth. Just did a back to back (very unscientific) comparison with the Montecristo Media Noche - no need to pay the Montecristo prices. A great smoke that I don't share with my friends.
I had the Dark Knight I (Toro) (5.7"x54) last night. Great smoke with excellent flavor and very aromactic. Was happily surprised with this one. It never got hot and it burned very evenly. Plan on getting more of these once I have room in the humi.
Great cigar. Nice flavors. Real enjoyable.
I like to keep a few cigars in the back of the humidor for special occasions. Cigars like AF Hemingways, and other highends. This is one of them. I was gifted a 5 pack of Dark Nights because of my interest in Batman. I thought they were a gimick. Let me tell you they are not. I -keep 2-3's of these all the time. I think they are my favorite cigar. Flavor is medium, smoke texture is full, construction is always good, and no burn problems. The prices here at CI are so much better then my local store so I am able to keep them in stock. Please know I have lots of budding cigar friends. I had out cigars all the time. This is not one of them. Thanks CI!
Received my 5-pak of Dark Knight III yesterday and decided to try one. Outstanding draw, burn and flavor. This medium strength cigar is one cool burner with just a touch of sweetness. Voluminous smoke; I had to remove the label as the intact ash touched it. Ash remained for three puffs after that - no BS. I've always been impressed with Hoyo cigars, but this was one was WAY beyond expectations. One of the most enjoyable cigars I've had in the last 5 years.
Had one of these the other night (the Dark Knight III - 4.5 x 50) and it was delicious. Pretty much exactly what I look for in a nice maduro - rich flavours of cocoa and coffee throughout, with a hearty core of sweet earth. This cigar was just pouring out smoke, and the draw was so very easy. I didn't have to put any effort in to get plumes of smoke that filled my mouth and coated my palate. Construction was pitch-perfect. A nearly razor sharp burn line, and an ash that held on long enough that it fell off in just 2 big chunks throughout the burn. I really liked this, and was amazed when I came on here and saw the price point. I will be buying these by the box in the near future for sure!
This cigar is excellent! The smoke is dense and the aroma is nice. I used to smoke this at my local watering hole and drink for hours. Never had any complaints.
I just smoked one of the Excalibur 1066 Dark Knight this weekend. I had a different opinion of the smoke that CS from CA. I had a LOT of smoke from this thing and it hung around. From the moment I lit the cigar, it was smoking. I would set it down and it was still smoking. Never had to relight and it never got hot. Great draw and flavor, I'll be picking up a box of these as soon as I can make space in the humi!
Hoyo makes a great maduro in the 1066, and a decent value too. Not too pricey so you can enjoy them more frequently. Alluring oily to that Connecticut leaf. Hoyo like Oettinger over at CAO like to experiment with eclectic blends of leaf and that I can quantify every time I light one up. Truly a fun stick... wonderful bouquet, these don't plume up too much because of their pack, but that may be a bonus to some smokers. All-in-all... one heck of a smoke for the dough. My rate, this stick: 87
I like Hoyo stogies. For medium priced smokes they are pretty hard to beat in my book. The Dark Knight is one of my three or four favorite everyday cigars. I also like the Hoyo Dark Sumatra, Cohiba XV, Vegas A series and LGC R series so you can see where my taste runs. These Dark Knights can joust with any. Good taste, good draw, nice ash, doesn't get hot. Did I forget anything?
