E.P. Carrillo Short Run going on 6 years…oxymoron?
The 6th installment of the revered, highly-rated line by Ernesto Perez Carrillo has finally arrived. Sure to be an instant classic, E.P. Carrillo Short Run 2015 has a lot to live up to, and it delivers in spades. Following up Ernesto’s 90-plus rated catalog is scarier than a close-up of Gary Busey, but this bulldog is taking on the critics “foot-first” if you will. Without further ado, allow me to introduce E.P. Carrillo Short Run 2015.
From the ultra-lush soils of Nicaragua, Short Run 2015 boasts a dark, super-fermented, and rare Criollo 98’ wrapper leaf. Rife with oils, this beauty sucks onlookers in at first glance. Just beneath, a binder from Nicaragua houses a bevy of vintage long-fillers from the Dominican and Nicaragua. Elegant flavors of wood, nutmeg, spice, and cinnamon all enter the fray, along with ample complexity and superb balance that we have come to expect from Ernesto over the years. Thankfully, his blends are only getting better with age. Recommendation…snag some of these puppies before everyone else toasts them all to the nub.
