E.P. Carrillo Seleccion Oscuro

E.P. Carrillo is batting a thousand

E.P. Carrillo is an acknowledged master of his craft with his long track record of successful cigars from La Gloria Cubana to the #2 cigar of 2014, La Historia. His newest release, E.P. Carrillo Seleccion Oscuro, marks the first time he has used a San Andres Oscuro wrapper in one of his blends.

Seleccion Oscuro features a luscious, flavorful Mexican San Andres Oscuro wrapper encasing an Ecuadoran binder and Nicaraguan long-fillers. The blend is balanced, complex and packs a treasure trove of spice, pepper, wood, and sweet notes. E.P. Carrillo Seleccion Oscuro is a slow burning, perfectly constructed medium to full-bodied blend that will captivate you and have you returning time and time again.

Great news, E.P. Carillo Seleccion Oscuro was honored as the #4 cigar on the 2016 Top 25 Cigars list and received a well deserved 94-point rating, noting: "This cigar is not only full of dried-fruit notes and a chocolate-covered raisin sweetness, but is an exercise in restraint and balance."

E. P. Carrillo cigars brand impressed me.
I bought a box of Selección Oscuro Dinámicos Churchill 6.8 x 49 at CI. No doubt E. P. Carrillo is a master in the craft of cigars manufacture. I been smoking La Gloria Cubana cigars for years and I love those. In the last days I smoked E. P. Carrillo brand; Encore, La Historia and Capa de Sol love them all. These Dinámicos Churchill are grade A+ in terms of construction, the roll, draw and burn are amazing. The Mexican wrapper is just a beauty to stare. The flavor is rich at the full bodied smooth and balance side.

E.P Carrillo Oscuro
Might be my favorite smoke new smoke I tried in 2017. Smooth even draw, lush flavors. Its complex but not overbearing. I'm an avid smoker, but I think even a new cigar lover would appreciate the high quality of this cigar.

excellent stick, i didn't taste chocolate raisins. I can't describe the flavors unless I'm smoking one as I type! These sticks are going to rest for awhile before I light one up again. I would recommend this cigar:)

I am a big fan of the La Historia and this is another great stick from EP Carrillo. Lots of flavor and more in the medium range of strength. Highly recommend.

Deliciously "mild" oscuro. Worth it. Don't shy away.
Such a great smoke. Worth the #4 spot on Cigar Afficionado's 2016 list. Despite being an oscuro it is not overpowering. In fact, I think it is more mild than many maduros.

Berry Berry close to Five Stars
Now I've only had one of these beauties but, I was so impressed that I just ordered a box. What I received from the one Oscuro; Toasting was fine and the initial draw was not easy but not tough. This caused me to focus on the initial flavor which gave me a touch of Berry for some reason and some earthiness. After about an inch or an inch and a half I picked up some pepper and a subtle wood essence. the burn was slow, which I like and I never touched it up. As I progressed thru this interesting cigar, the pepper and wood became more prevalent and I checked myself to see if I was drawing to fast. I try to stay at one draw per minute to keep any heat related issues to a minimum. It never became overly strong and the finish was smooth but not long lasting. This is an excellent smoke for anytime, which is what I like in cigars. Some can only be appreciated when your finished with a large meal and your not going anywhere if you know what I mean. I would classify this beauty as a medium / full but not overpowering at anytime. Personally this was a very interesting and good cigar, my only change to this offering would be to carry the Berry a little more. That would give it 5 stars in my book. A great offering from E.P. and I'm excited about receiving my 1st box. Buy a single or a fiver to try out and I know you will be impressed. BTW, the build of this E.P. offering is nothing short of superb.

This is an exceptional smoke. Perfect draw and great, but not overpowering, flavor.

Black beauty
This is a fine smoke. Very smooth, slightly sweet with notes of citrus. This is a quintessential oscuro cigar, like any other maduro or oscuro the flavor can be overpowering if you smoke it too hot or fast. Take your time with this one.

big impact in a small stick
I found the flavor intense and tending to harsh in the first third at which point I stopped and went to an old standby.
