E.P. Carrillo Dark Rituals

A masterpiece returns.

In 2011, Dark Rituals quickly made plenty of fans during its very brief time in E.P. Carrillo’s Edicion Limitada series. And then it was gone, sold out and leaving everyone clamoring for more...

Now, the brand is back and burning better than ever. Known as Dark Rituals, this rich and powerful handmade comes dressed in an absolutely gorgeous Connecticut Broadleaf maduro wrapper extra-fermented to achieve a pitch-black hue and oily sheen. Beneath the hood, a robust blend of Nicaraguan long-fillers is combined inside a feisty Ecuadorian binder. The cigar is exceedingly complex and eventful, unveiling expertly balanced notes of dark tobacco, roasted coffee bean, and leather with a hefty dose of hearty but semi-sweet spices throughout the chewy bouquet.

Disappointing
Tightest cigar I've ever smoked. Poor glue job. Did not enjoy the flavours. Bitterness was overwhelming and it had to be put out during the 1st third. Would not recommend!

Earthy, good stick, but not for my creamy tastes
Medium earthy flavor, very little cream, nice burn, good construction. Just not my kind of cigar.

EP Dark Ritual
I like full flavor and strength. These puppies hit the mark. Burn even too. I have grabbed several sizes, all fit the description. Good purchase.

A good smoke
I really enjoyed these cigars. For being sub 2nd mortgage price they were tasty and slow burning.

A nice cigar if you like Maduro's
Excellent construction. Good draw and burn. A bit strong for my tastes though. Carillo's are certainly a quality smoke.

Great first half, then impossible draw
Got one of these in the free sampler with a box of La Historias, started out fine the flavor was unique but smooth, ash held on well past one third, flawless construction, the draw was a little tight but nothing to be concerned about. Until about half way through the stick, the draw tightened up and the rest of the cigar was a loss, totally unsmokable. Maybe I got a bad stick, all in all great in all aspects other than the draw. I'd give it another chance.

Since 2008 & still satisfied
I have been a loyal CI customer going on 8 years now & for the most part have always been happy with the value & level of customer service offered. Unless its a brick & mortar I have my eye on & cant make the trek to beautiful Northeast PA you pretty much have my business on lock! Thanks & keep up the good work. See you at the '16 Fest!!

An excellent cigar
A deep, rich combination of cocoa, spice, and aged tobacco. Perfect construction and excellent draw. Stays smooth and cool. I have smoked each one down to about a half an inch.

Well constructed but an Odd taste and flavor throughout.
I know Carrillo has created great Cigars but not with this offering. I prefer the full bodied dark Oscuro or Esteli blends. Also, i love Carrillo's La Historia, so I bought 10 of these sticks. Smoked one hours after receipt and put all the others in the humidor with a clean and consistent 72 % humidification level. First cigar tasted odd to me and it seemed earthy, unpleasant, and vastly devoid of what I fibd in La Historia or any of Ernesto's legacy in La Gloria Cubana smokes. i ignored the issue and let all the others sit in my 72% humidity and four in my 65% humidity box fir 2 months. Tried one from each humidor a few weeks ago and they are the same in flavor. Up close, they smell like potting soil for African Violet plants, and that encouraged me, but the flavor, well into the 3-4" smoked through range still disappointed me and I do not know why or what is in this cigar but, it is something I do not like, however YOU may. Live and learn.. I am new at this, a little over 2 years as a 90+ sampler but this is the most unpleasant smoke I have tried in the past two years. Best! JDG...

not what i expected!!!
trying samples of ep carrillo before, the price made it possible to buy a box of this new cigar.. biggest complaint is, draw is not as good, maybe more aging be me required..i enjoy strong cigars, so taste is fine

EP Carrillo Dark Ritual
The Dark Ritual is rich and slightly sweet, and burns wonderfully. It has become one of my favorite Carrillo, as good or better than the Historia and Cores that I like as well. I have had several boxes and have found them to be remarkably consistent in flavor, construction, and burning. I think it is a wonderful cigar and an extremely reliable experience.
Customer Testimonials
Just got my ten pack in the mail, tore it open and lit a stick right away(I usually let them rest, but I have heard good things about that last release of this cigar(2011?). I have heard this one isn't as good, BUT from my first impression, I really liked it and I smoked it down till I was burning my fingers. Great flavor and volume of smoke. I am leaning towards ordering another pack! I wanted to age some, but I don't know if they will last that long in my humidor. I might have to buy another pack and hide them in my long term storage humidor.
This is a *very* tasty stick - glad I'm in COMC or it might not have crossed my radar.
Received this as one of the cigars of the month. It was a nice constant smoke. Not over powering but strong in background. Like a strong cup of Earl Gray tea.
