Don Jesus

“7th Wonder of the World” indeed!

Here’s a sad story with a happy ending. A few months ago, we purchased a closeout lot. A favor to friend kind of thing. As they say, no good deed goes unpunished. Here’s our punishment. Among some more decent brands was a gem labeled Don Jesus. Funny enough alone, but it gets better. Closer examination revealed the number of cigars on the bundle manually scribbled out with a Sharpie. Bearable, I guess. But it gets worse. The ‘Don Jesus’ label was obviously applied over another label to intentionally cover it up. Underneath? Another label of a brand called Desperado Seconds.

A cigar described in print, on the sticker, by the manufacturer as, “These are not first quality cigars, not stemless, perfect, or spectacular in any way.” Good. Now that my cards are all on the table, here’s the happy ending. We burnt a bundle. They’re not that bad, and I want to wash my hands of this mess quickly. So my offer to you is this: I’m not going to make any money on these and you get a half-decent cigar or well under a buck a pop. Help me out, would ya? Your choice of Connecticut or Maduro wrapper.

I was impressed, a nice mild smoke...
This is a good smoke for the price. Burns even and has a nice mild taste. I like these for working around the yard and cutting the lawn. They almost taste as good as a Ghurka Warpig but, the Warpig stays solid wright down to the Dog End.

This Cigar tastes and burns as good as Bahia Blu sampler I got!!
Just rec'd these cigars today. I had to cook one up because being from Simsbury,CT (Tobacco Valley) and working one summer threading Connecticut wrapper leaves. Tobacco fields and sheds are all vacant now but, What A Great Tasting Cigar!!! Don't knock these cigars! The wrapper was tight and this cigar burned evenly, a nice mild smoke no harsh bitterness right down to the dog-end!. ...

Very loose. Tobacco comes out of cigar into mouth. Taste ok

Inexpensive, not cheap.
A surprise. Inexpensive cigars with a great taste. They burn well, are rolled well, and the consistency is great.

Very poor quality of tobacco used. Loosely wrapped and a very bad burner. The taste was very harsh

Smooth smoke, great value!
These were offered as a special promotion. I took a chance based on the reviews of others. They arrived in 3 days - so I fired one up! Fresh, smooth taste, easy burn, great value. I prefer a larger cigar so the size is a bit small - but perfect for a quick smoke!

Bargain cigar
Golf course or yard work cigar. Keep in bag for borrowers. A hand roll tat costs less than machine is always a bargain.

BUDGET FRIENDLY EVERYDAY SMOKE
I purchased these for my husband so that he would have a backup cigar to smoke, neither he nor I have a large stock of cigars. He prefers a bigger ring gauge so he gave them to me. It is an average cigar with an even burn that does not have any "wow" flavors. Burns well and I have paired it with wine, coffee and whiskey. Better with whiskey. No it is not my favorite but it is not an awful cigar.- I am down to the last 3 of 20. The taste did improve after sitting in my humidor for a few weeks.

You might want to pass on this one...
So like most guys I like a deal. Are these cigars worth the money, I guess. Are they good, no. Would I hand them out to my friends, probably not if they actual are cigar smokers. Mild flavor, good burn, easy draw, well they're cut filler..not the worst cigar in the world but not something you'd look forward to day after day. I would guess they are a lot like machine made cigars would be. the smoke has moments when good scents come through then moments when it has cheap cigar written all over it. Overall I'd recommend spending a double the price on something you will enjoy much more. No garbage but not at all good in my opinion..

pretty good smoke
Of the first dozen I've smoked, these are pretty decent for a cheapo. Like other reviewers have written, these are a lil soft but not mushy and have an even burn. Decent volume of smoke that is kinda satisfying. Decent aroma. Just a bit of aftertaste; but I'm a huffer and can make any cigar hot or bitter. Bottom line is the first 2 bndls won't last long because they are my newish daily smoker, so I'm ordering 3 or 4 more bndls now.

Inexpensive-Average Cigar
You get what you pay for. Surprisingly, these aren't that bad.
4 out of 5
tasty
These are good for a quick break or if you don't want to waste money because you can't finish smoking a premium cigar.

Not a bad smoke
Not a bad smoke for the price. Cigar is a bit soft but burns well and taste is O.K. Keep in mind that I am rating a low priced cigar. Again, not bad for the price.

Don Jesus Corona Grande,
A great smooth cigar at an affordable price I will buy these again.

burns a little fast
the length is good, gauge size seemed a little slim but not too slim. happy with the purchase, because i knew what i was buying. Im always on the hunt for a cheap cigar.

No a bad smoke.
Well worth the money at the old price, bought many. Since the price jumped up have not bought any more.

too moist
bad roll, too moist. I am trying to let them sit in my long term humidor for a couple of months. took all out of their wrappers and I do not have to add water to the Humi-pack. The ones that have dried out tasted good, but I am used to a higher level of cigar. Okay for the price. Hay I bought three bundles for the the price of one low level pkg. good enough. you get what you pay for. so all is okay.

Smoke 'em if ya got 'em.
After seeing the non-hype about the origin of this yard-gar I pulled the trigger when the price point dropped..low enough to use em for compost if they were terrible... and they weren't. Tasty but moist, inconsistent construction making them hard to light and draw. Drying for about two weeks and giving them a massage helped. At THIS price point a good deal in an everyday (behind the barn) smoke. T Vista, Ca

El Cheapo Surprises
They taste like it's all types of different filler tobacco was swept off the floor after a day or work and thrown into a bin and used to wrap. I personally enjoy the variety of flavors this cigar will throw at you, with no two being alike. For the price it is well worth it just as a short haul cigar. Very earthy tones for the most part. For the price there enjoyable if you like variety and surprises but if they were any more then what they are I probably wouldn't buy them.

fair to good smoke
I like this cheepo cigar for the short haul, mowing grass working on little projects etc. Not packed to tight but enjoy smoking them they remind me of Avanti king Parodi but longer & milder! John

Not the pritiest girl on the block!!
Not the pritiest, but very easy to smoke. Very smooth.

Not bad for the money!
Not too bad for the money. Labels are different in the photo compared to when you get it. Draws good. Kind of a green flavor in taste with a little bitterness. Entire cigar is soft or spongy but burns well. Not bad for a cheap quick smoke.

Surprisingly Good Cigar
Very surprised, actually a good cigar. Even burn, good draw and good taste. Will definitely buy again.

Sweet tasting D.J.s
These sticks are fine for the price indeed. Clean burn w/ no stem trains, yet. Burnt about 5 or 6 so far. Might save 1 or 2 if I can't get any more of these. I need a bigger humidor!!

Love the price they have a good taste the only problem is the wrapper unravels and I have to wet it and rewrap it.

Don Jesus why did I buy These !
you get what you pay for the cigars were so loose you couldn't even hold them in your mouth. Buy backwoods wild and mild. I would NOT buy again.

Surprisingly Good
I was pleasantly surprised by these cigars. Construction isn't immaculate and the caps are a little wonky, but they taste good and are certainly worth more than what they are asking for.
3 out of 5
A bit on the rough side
These were not bad, especially for the price. They did tend to vary in flavor and get rough toward the end. Maybe giveaway cigars (though not for a good friend!)

Great smoke and value
I was very very surprised at the great burn and smooth taste of these. They could be a little fresher but at this price who cares.
3 out of 5
Not bad for the price
These aren't Rocky Patels or Macanudos. But if you want a low priced stick that is fine for working in the yard or taking a walk, these aren't bad at all. Quality is a bit inconsistent, and they burn faster than a premium cigar, but at fifty cents a throw, I keep a bundle handy for those occasions when I choose not to fire up a Rocky or an Oliva.

Ok for it's price!
I like cigars, The Don Jesus isn't a pretty cigar, but it is a very good value. Mild, burns well, but not bad and has a good flavor. A great every cigar for the price...

An ok smoke
These cigars would be good for an everyday smoke. They're mild and pleasant. The tightness with which they are rolled varies from one to another. Some are tight others are loose. Otherwise I find them enjoyable.

cutters practice only
I am a casual smoker so I want to try everything before I find my go to brand and I can tell you this. I have to say the cigars are very sponge like and lumpy. I have a variety of cutters-punch, v cutter, double guillotine, scissor cutter, every time I cut the cigar no matter what I used it unraveled and fell apart. the flavor was of bitter grass and you get tar coming through before your half way through the cigar. I would say these cigars are best used for cutting practice not smoking. I threw them away.

Not a go-to smoke
Construction is inconsistent.

Pleasant surprise!
A very pleasant surprise! I smoke cigars because I like cigars, not to impress anyone with a fancy brand. The Don Jesus isn't a pretty cigar, but it is a very good value. Mild, burns well, a bit loose but not bad and has a good flavor. A great every day cigar. Thanks CI for a real value cigar!

Bought because they were cheap but was pleasantly surprised.
Great cigar and cheap. I gave all my friends some and they really liked them as well. Not the best but perfect daily cigar or while working on car or yard. Burns very well with a long ash. I've ordered then a few times now and are fresh and moist every time.

well...
These are not the best cigars in any way but price. Not bad but not good. Does not stand up to.wind. loosely packed. I will however buy them again for an indoor smoke.

Not a bad cheap cigar
Tried one, gave one away for a second opinion. We both agree ... waiting three to six months won't hurt. For a low priced cigar I have had worse. When I try them again will review again.

With this you get more that what you expect. Construction of course is not on par with high-end cigars, but they do hold together well. Flavor is nice and mild, burn is even, and the value is spectacular!

Mostly not bad. When I first purchased these it just to have a cheap smoke at work. Most of them are good to very good with a few that are soft. Some of them are excellent. At this price a damn good deal.
