Alec Bradley Nica Puro

Alec Bradley's first Nicaraguan puro.

The Nica Puro marks the first Alec Bradley cigar crafted with all Nicaraguan tobaccos. Surprising, I know, especially when you consider the impressive slew of 90+ rated blends now under the Alec Bradley umbrella. But that's neither here nor there - what is important is that the Nica Puro hits all the right keys in typical Alec Bradley fashion.

Medium-bodied, well-balanced and rich, the Nica Puro is everything a Nicaraguan cigar should be. It all starts with an extensively fermented Nicaraguan Habano wrapper, glistening with oils and soft to the touch. Just beneath this leaf, a bold yet balanced core of Nicaraguan long-fillers secured by a Nicaraguan binder. This all-Nicaraguan cast of tobaccos strikes up bevy of chewy hearty flavor. Hints of leather, cocoa, nutmeg, toast and roasted nuts wash over the palate, before a long satisfying finish. This may be Alan Rubin's first Nicaraguan puro, but it sure is good.

Nica Puro is the proud wearer of numerous 90-ratings. One review noted, "Rich notes of leather and raisin make this dark and oily cigar a solid performer. The draw imparts copious amounts of lush, flavorful smoke."

Mmm good!
Nicaraguan puros seem to be my favorites. I love those silky habano wrappers and flavorful dark long fillers. The Nica Puro is a fine example. Its medium for sure, but not too far from full. Its got that nice, simple, creamy puro charm.

Give it time
I agree with other reviewers that this is more of a full bodied smoke. To be honest, the first few notes were very peppery and almost too bitter for my taste. However, within a few minutes it really opened up into the notes as listed. Great draw with the perfect amount of smoke. Not all that complex but absolutely a slam dunk. Glad I got a box of 20. Wouldn't give it to someone as a first ever smoke but definitely would share with a fellow BOTL

Great smoke!!!
As many others have commented, this is more than a medium cigar. If you don't like full bodied very flavorful cigars, this probably isn't the one for you. But if you do, snap these up. Lots of good heavy duty smoke bites along with these. Might become my new favorite.

Best AB so far
This is the best AB I've tried so far, and I like the AB lineup. Nice construction, burn and draw. There isn't too much pepper or spice, which I like. I get raisins and some cocoa. Nice with a shot of Glenfiddich bourbon barrel reserve. I will get more. Picked it up at the C.I. store in Hamburg, Pa. if you're lucky enough to be near a C.I. store I highly recommend going. It's one huge man cave. Two full bars with eats, pool tables, overstuffed chairs, the works. Heck, the wife even enjoys herself.

So happy with this cigar
Got this in the Alec Bradley Flight Sampler IV. So happy with this cigar. Lacks the spiciness I generally don't prefer. Rich, chocolaty with some roasted almonds and cream. Not overbearing and burned perfectly. I'll be sourcing more Nicaraguan cigars in the future. Paired it with the Nikka Coffee Malt Whiskey...beautiful.

What a great Nicaraguan puro.
I love this cigar. I also bought some robusto's to try for times when I'm a little short on time. I'm going to get a box of these soon.

Great
This is my favorite cigar in my brief smoking history. It has enough spice to give it a good flavor, and nice smoke.

Not for breakfast.
The CI profile discription might be a bit much but it's close. The build is great. The pre-light draw is flavorful. The wrapper puts good flavors on the lips. This baby puts out the smoke with a great draw. Its strong and smooth with mature tobacco. No bitterness at all either. The flavor profile isn't overly complex but it's there. Mild leather in the back half and thats where the mineral tones come on too. Yea, Nicaraguan through and through. This is a great cigar.

Best of the Alec Bradley Products!
This is my favorite of all the Alec Bradley products. Consistently easy draw and consistent flavor throughout. A real "hate to let it go" finish even when a re-light singes your fingertips or the tip of your nose.

Great cigar!
well worth the money.
Customer Testimonials
This is no "medium" cigar. My first from a new box that's been resting a month. One of the reviews mentioned "raisiny"... spot on. Very strong, but still creamy. I won't share this with anyone not used to cigars. Tons of smoke, decent burn line. Just very full-bodied. I like it, but I'm tempted to wait another month or two before trying another to see if they mellow out a little. Not at all like the Family Blend or whatever I've been getting with the Alec Bradley "2nds", which has got to be the best value in the industry. Overall, very nice.
It's no secret that my two favorite cigar makers are Abel Fernandez & Alan Rubin. Vitolas like the impressive Alec Bradley Nica Puro toro is the main reason for my devotion. Mr. Rubin is the master of the correct usage of the Habano leaf. His aged All-Nicaraguan line is graced with one of the most shimmering examples I have seen. Just like AJ always does, Alan carefully selects, cures & blends the tobacos to deliver unusually distinctive cigars time after time. Nica Puro is Cubanesque, to say the least. Rich, smooth, stronger than it seems, it is loaded with medium bodied/full flavored goodness from 1st puff to finger staining nub. About an hour with this 6" X 52 toro. Leather, black tobacco & oaky notes are unleashed amid clouds of smoke. A seven bone price tag makes it rather expensive. Being undeniably delicious means you should try this wonderful blend & earns Nica Puro a well deserved 92/100. Keep your peeps open for deals, as I do with all things Alec Bradley & you can sample many fine cigars for a fraction of the MSRP. Thanks to CI, I have tried many stogies that I might have otherwise missed.
Nica is nice and pleasant smoke. It is well constructed and full of flavor....
This was my first experience with AB. It came with the Cigar of the Month Club in April 2014. It was constructed very well, and had a great draw with lots of smoke. It started of strong on the pepper side and smoothed out for the 2nd third. Good cigar, excited to try other similar.
This is an excellent cigar! I recommend the Toro. Woody, leathery, hint of espresso in there as well. Better stock up on these before Cigar Aficionado writes a good review on these and the price skyrockets.
Great smoke, its overall smooth, rolled well, the wrapper was nice. One of the better smokes I've had from AB. I found it to have some pleasant earth and nutty tones with and overall considered a smooth smoke. it burned slightly uneven which looked like it was caused by improper filler technique, however that did not take away from the flavor.
Purchased the Bajito from a local shop. A strong cigar; pepper, leather, a hint of cream.
Another slam dunk from Alec Bradley. I recently bought a box of MAXX Brazil w/ a 12 pack kicked in for another $5. These Nica Puros are an absolute delight! I'd recommend them to any cigar smoker. Light one up & relax.
....I received 2 Nica Puro toros in an upgrade a month ago & decided to let them rest before firing 1 up. I did so this evening & have found another excellent example of why I consider Alec Bradley the premiere purveyor of top notch medium bodied vitolas in the industry. While it is true that some of ABs offerings tend to have minor burn issues, a short cedar nap tends to take care of these. This all Nicaraguan cigar features a dark, leathery Habano wrapper that marries well with the all Nicaraguan long fillers to deliver gobs of flavor, with notes of spice & an underlying touch of white pepper & sweet cedar. Thoroughly enjoyable, as we have come to expect from this manufacturer. I will be looking for more deals on Alec Bradley cigars & pulling the trigger anytime I can save a few bucks. Thanks to CI, just such offers are available....
I am smoking one right now. I had my first and second on a business trip to Buffalo. After the second, I texted my hometown cigar shop to get these jewels in. While i do not agree with the "medium" strength rating(more full to me), this is a fantastic cigar that is constucted perfectly. Draws great in both the 60 and torpedo models, satisfies to where you do not look for a second smoke. I am almost at the 2 hour mark on my 60 and have more to go, and the price point is excellent. I like it more than the Tempus, better price than the Prensado(but the two are just different cigars), and just blows away anything else AB puts out. Thrilled that CI now carries them!
First time I smoked one of these last night 6/4/13, not bad, smooth rich, oily, not a Presnado but worth the buy
I have generally been disappointed with the Alec Bradley brand. I loved the original release of the Tempus, but over time I've had a long run of cigars with subpar construction (the later releases of the Tempus, the SCR, the Prensado, the American Blend, etc.); However, today I smoked the Alec Bradley Nica Puro toro... rich, chewy, spicy, delicious. Construction (for the first time in years, atleast in my experience) was spot on. And the price point is right on.
