Alec Bradley MAXX

Enjoy the true personality of Alec Bradley cigars.

MAXX cigars were designed to deliver an eventful character that is balanced and far from overwhelming. Cloaked by a dark Nicaraguan maduro leaf, a complex, 4-country blend of tobaccos is bound by a tasty Costa Rican Binder. The complex cocktail of countries in this charmer includes: Colombia, Nicaragua, Honduras and Mexico. The result is a medium to full-bodied blend that's rich and smooth as silk from the get-go, but filled with toasty, earthy flavors and a natural sweetness on the lingering aftertaste.

Despite the wonderful array of flavors and aroma, what's most striking about MAXX is the lineup of sizes. Each cigar within the line is quite large, maximizing flavor and strength inside a long, luxurious experience.

MAXX also received numerous 90+ ratings, including a well deserved '91' rating, stating: "It has a sweet wood flavor, with toast and spice notes, and it continues to improve as it's puffed."

AB Maxx The Fix
I really like them. Great taste with notes of leather, wood, and maybe some spice. The Fix size is great for me as I usually prefer larger ring gauge and this length.

This is a stick one needs to make a date with. From its silky, dark oily, maduro, wrapper; through its solid packed construction; to its succulent complex rich medium body; A. Bradley's "Maxx The Freak" is a feast. Wonderfully balanced complex flavors develop and evolve in the velvety smoke providing an experience that keeps your attention. Whit "The Freak" that is a long glorious time.

Still waiting
After 6 months I still can't get air through it, tried one when I received them, tossed it, still in my humidor waiting for the day I can light one up and smoke it.

CI was out of the MAXX Freak so i thought i would try the Superfreak. The taste and burn were just the same as the Freak but the size forces you to have 3 hours in front of you to burn this stick. Really liked but will go back to the Freak now that they are back in stock.

Wrapped Too Tight
A cigar to avoid. I have always liked this brand and would occasionally get a stick that was wrapped too tight and just could not get a draw. For my last order, the entire box was wound tighter than a preppie on (Starbucks) French Roast. I was not able to smoke a single one.

First Time for MAXX
This is a great cigar. Smokes milder than its rating. Burns even, cool, and very long. I have smoke three of my order at social functions and all lasted close to 4 hours (I kid you not.)

Great smokes
Loved the flavor and even burn

Basically a good cigar
The flavor of the AB Freak is fairly full, but smooth. A good cigar to smoke inside or in a limited air flow area. I found that smoking outside led to uneven burn and tunneling. It has a good draw, and I'd recommend it to any experienced smoker. Not for a beginner.

Customer Testimonials
This cigar has great cut, draw, burn and wrapper. To me seems to be a medium to strong cigar, I picked up a little pepper, so it's good. Thanks.
This cigar is really good and fits the description.
The Freak is exactly that! A omnipotent 6.3" X 60rg monster of a smoke, featuring the reddest maduro wrapper I have seen. This Nicaraguan leaf melds with a Costa Rican binder & long fillers from the four corners of the Carribean, to produce another delicious medium bodied/full flavored offering from the guys I consider the best at doing just that. Notes of chocolate, caramel, light white toast & an unmistakable Mexican filler. Sweetness dominates a complex flavor profile. Maxx is a big winner & even comes draped in a Brazilian Habano wrapper. They call that one Maxx Brazil. It is almost as tasty as the original, but does offer quite a discount, when compared to the lofty 7+ clams that Maxx demands. In reality, the cost is my one reservation about Maxx. It is my 2nd favorite Alec Bradley blend, after the incomparable Prensado. It should be noted that no burn issues were encountered during the entire smoke, which lasts over 90 minutes with a cigar the size of the Freak. Unlike any other Maduro cigar, partly due to the complexity of the various tobaccos utilized, Maduroheads should love the blend. It delivers medium, even somewhat full bodied goodness that anyone ready to up the ante & try something bolder will enjoy. Look for deals or try MAXX Brazil, which can be had for about half the cost, & you will see why Alec Bradley has few peers when it comes to serious boutiques that command well deserved 90+ ratings. Alec Bradley Maxx Freak scores a 92/100 in my book. Brazil takes down a 90/100. Try them both. I highly recommend them.
Alec Bradley has hit another home run with their MAXX line of cigars. I tried a 10 pack of their fixx gordo robusto vitolas & have to say, it is the best damn cigar I have smoked in months! Wow! This is the smoothest medium/full bodied cigar I have ever tasted. Loaded with hints of spice & delicate earthy undertones, it satisfies from the first puff, right down to the finger burning nub. Six months ago, my humidors had literally dozens of different brands in them. Now as I take inventory, I find that half my smokes are made by Alec Bradley. By Christmas this year, there may not be a single stick in them that AB didn't make.
Love love LOVE THIS STICK. Its a monster. Smokes great. My wife loves the smell of this. Smooth construction. Heavy and tightly rolled. Had trouble piercing the double cap with my punch. But still got it punched with no cap breaking. I love this cigar to pieces. If I had the money to smoke these daily. I would. Recommend you buy these and give them a try. About an hour smoke. Great for a night on the porch watching night with the wife and winding down.
DONT SMOKE AS SOON AS THEY ARRIVE. This is what I did, and even though I can tell that this is a great cigar, it would have been much better had I have waited awhile prior to trying one. It is a mid/full flavor smoke, that fills the area your in with an abundance of smoke. Very smooth draw, and a great flavor that goes down so smooth. It is a cigar that merits keeping some in your humidor all of the time. I just ordered a 300 count humidor, in order to keep me from checking the humidity on 3 50 counts, and 150 count. The prices are at an all time buyers market, and you the make an offer feature to get even more savings. My last order saved me more than $50.00 dollars on 6 differnt brands that CI excepted the offer I made. This is the best Alec Bradley I have tried, and after spending more time in my humidor, I will fire up another one
This is one of those yippee kind of cigar experiences. I highly recommend you give it a try. Size is big and flavor is bold, but as mentioned by everyone else it does not overpower. You will want to get hooked on these tasty bananas. Not to mention you look like a kingpin with this whopper in your hand. Get you some and you will be compelled to post about it's greatness.
I have to say that this is without a doubt the best cigar I have smoked in 2009, I used to think that the Rocky Patel Sungrown was it but the Maxx has out scored that cigar in every way possible. The complex mixing of tobacco's is a treat to enjoy. I am truly impressed with how Nester was able to take all those tobacco's from each country and come up with such a fantastic mix and finished product. I have made this my every day smoke now and I don't go a day without smoking at least one a day, and some days it is more.
I love this Maxx cigar. The maduro is awesome! it smokes great and CI has a great price on this smoke... I always try to keep a dozen in the humidor. I generally smoke the 5x58 size... Good size and great taste.
Love the Alec Bradley Maxx with sweet maduro wrapper and complex pleasing flavor. Burns evenly and draws well with a nice finish......a must try for every discriminating medium to full bodied cigar smoker.
Thank you SO much!! CI for having the awesome cigar (MAXX by Alec Bradley) in stock and for sale!! I initially ran across this cigar in a local tobacco store and just fell in love with several of the style from the curve to the fix and several more. I have three boxes of these cigars in my Humidor locker at my local Tobacconist location, and two more in my new personal humidor, actually more than half of my humidor is full of the maxx!! This cigar is now officially my favorite cigar and my second favorite which is stocked in my humidor is Oliva V series. And the New Oliva Line ( which i hope you guys stock soon ) called the Oliva Connecticut line, a 52X6.5. This cigar is very flavorful and offers numerous pleasing notes on the palette, like Rubin states he has at least one in his day, i smoe about 3 in my day of these. Nestor is an awesome blender and thensome. The maxx is one of those cigars that you just want to chew on it is so good! If you really want an overall cigar that meets you taste, look and feel, this blend and line of cigar is one you really should take the time to try. I know once you try the fixx or the curve you will be wanting a box of each or like me several. Thanks again Ci for the awesome Opprotunity to get this fine cigar.
What a good cigar (MAXX by Alec Bradley)! (Fix) The draw is easy, generous even...emitting clouds of thick smoke. The first 1/2" had a slight bite to it but not unpleasant...the flavor however is delicious and unique. Smooth for sure with a rich smokey/wood flavor. Definitely medium bodied but complex. It really coats the palate. I want to eat this cigar...really. I can and do smoke anything I want...definitely adding this as a regular on my rotation. Thanks for the recommendation CI!
(Alec Bradley MAXX The Fix – Robusto) Greetings from the Aloha State! Here I am again. Writing another review. I always find myself thanking CI and they certainly deserve it. This time I want to thank YOU, the CI customers. Being a noob, I really rely on all of your inputs to make purchases. Your reviews brought me to the MAXX. THANK YOU. This is an incredible smoke. Draw, burn and flavor are all outstanding! Like big clouds of delicious smoke? Then you owe it to yourself to buy this cigar. I also have a box of the big torpedoes, but will wait until I have two hours to kill. 90 bucks a box?!?! CI, you’re amazing!
I bought a box of these (MAXX by Alec Bradley) and honestly haven't opened the box, but have really enjoyed the freebie samplers. They are all extremely well constructed, medium-mild, even burning cigars. The wrapper has a sheen reserved for the best corojos or maduros -- chocolate brown and very attractive. The cigars are very dense, the draw very reasonable, and the burn even w/ ash length of 2-3 inches normal. In sum an excellent series of cigars -- compliments. Now I have to run -- am going to open the box of "Freaks" I purchased!
I had Maxx by Alec Bradley the other night with a friend of mine. We are both very picky about the smokes we try out and I must say that the two of us do have different tastes. Maxx satisfied both my palate as well as his. As far as value, I've spent much more on other smokes that were just ok. This cigar wasn't ok, it was marvelous, the wrapper, the burn, and most of all the taste was great. In short, a beautiful ciagr that is blended to perfection and a must try for anyone that knows what good tobacco should taste like.
Got a 'Fix' as a sampler at Fest '07 (MAXX by Alec Bradley). I LOVE the look and size of this cigar. After smoking it I was sold. Bought a box and proudly carried it around all day while smoking a couple more. The CI description is right on so I won't add to it. Alan Rubin's cool and makes a great cigar. The way I'm going, I'll be buying another box soon.
Another CigarFest '07 cigar. This one is the Maxx Nano 'Tasting sample"...a wee thing of about 4" x 40. Frankly, I wasn't expecting very much from such a small thing, but I was very pleasantly surprised. Absolutely even burn, medium to full strength and excellent flavour. When I was finished with it I left the house for about an hour. When I returned I could still smell it, and even my wife said 'that smells good!' I'm looking forward to trying the 'regular' sized one.
Driving back from CigarFest 2007 (to help stay awake on the 13 hour plus drive), I light the Alec Bradley up and I fell in love. From the moment I took it out of the wrapper, you could just tell it was a high quality cigar. It is a dense cigar (alot heavier weight than any other cigar I have ever smoked), with a deep and rich taste, lots of flavor, but not overpowering -- burned slowly, evenly producing a nice thick smoke. Straight to the top of my favorite cigars -- you will not be disappointed.
The Alec Bradley MAXX is a medium-full bodied cigar that is rich but not harsh. Definitely a high quality cigar with satisfying flavor. I am smoking The Curve (torpedo) and it has a perfect draw and great construction. Love the big ring sizes available. Pairs well with coffee.
MAXX is everything Alan Rubin says it is and more. After hitting the halfway point on my first MAXX Curve, I had to immediately find a box not only for my personal consumption, but for my good friends who share a passion for a truly great cigar. MAXX is going on my "auto-ship" program today!

MAXX by Alec Bradley

Steve R

Is anybody else sick of seeing Paris Hilton on the news every minute of the day? In jail, outta jail, in jail, finding God, changing her life...who cares?! It’s sickening. Last night I turned on the television to see yet another report on the status of Princess Parasite, a clip of her being carted away in a squad car crying her eyes out. After watching just long enough for a sheepish smile to creep over my face, I quickly grew ill and retired to the sights and sounds of Downtown Bethlehem with a big, fat cigar.

The cigar of choice, MAXX by Alec Bradley in ‘The Freak’ size. At 6.3” x 60, this cigar is a monster. An over-stuffed toro that guarantees an extra-long break from the daily grind. Normally I wouldn’t choose a cigar of this size for a daily smoke, but part of my job is writing the newsletter for our Cigar of the Month Club, which involves the cigar write-ups. You guessed it...MAXX is part of next month’s selection, along with 3 other fantastic cigars. And so, I am going to kill two birds with one stone!

MAXX is an intriguing cigar made in Nestor Plasencia’s Honduran factory, El Paraiso, for Alec Bradley. Each of the five vitolas is unique, sporting juiced-up proportions to maximize the flavor produced by its already complex blend of tobaccos. This includes a 4-country blend of long-fillers (Columbia, Nicaragua, Honduras, and Mexico) bound by a Costa Rican leaf, all hugged by an attractive Nicaraguan maduro. Oh my!

I now sit at my desk with another 'Freak' in front me. Aesthetically, the cigar might bring a tear to your eye. The wrapper is dark and oily, with minimal veins, consistent color, and a well-applied double-cap. As expected, it’s very heavy in the hand and the roll is solid from head to toe. The pre-light aroma smells like baked bread, with some spice tingling through the nose. I had to use Brandon's Swiss Army Knife Cigar Scissors to cut this bad boy, and upon doing so, noticed a nice pre-light draw with just enough resistance. I lit up with about 20 minutes to go here at the office before I cut out for a quick round of 9 holes, our CI Golf League is in full swing!

The ‘Freak’ opens with a rich, toasty blast of flavor that coats the entire palate. The aftertaste is long and enjoyable, with a robust, tobacco flavor that seems to cling to my taste buds. Throughout the smoke, a variety of flavors hit different parts of the palate. The dark maduro leaf leaves behind a sweetness on the tip of the tongue and lips. On the sides of the palate, I note a deep, woody flavor, especially during the first third. Then, as I approached the 2nd tee, I picked up something really interesting - yes I already have one hole under my belt and I am still have plenty of cigar to go. It was just past the midway point when this happened. While rolling the smoke around in my mouth, the back of my palate began to pick up a meaty flavor, almost like stewed beef. Weird, yes, but pleasant and surprisingly fitting, considering how ‘meaty’ this cigar is in stature. This flavor was prominent until the last inch, when I decided to set the cigar down one final time after 3-putting on the 6th tee.

MAXX is a beast. In both the size and flavor departments. But, it’s far from overpowering. Definitely a medium-bodied smoke with balanced layers of rich, toasty flavors that evolve during the burn. Truth be told, I first had this cigar in the FIX size about a year ago, and instantly knew it would be a hit among customers due to its level of complexity. Considering the price, it’d be silly not to give this cigar a shot. And, it gets better...Alec Bradley will be introducing a new size, the Nano, which is a smaller, petite corona.
