#6: CAO MX2 and Diesel

Good quality

As far as I'm concerned, this pair is the best value of all the Gentlemen's Deuce offerings. The MX2 is my favorite CAO, well made and suiting my palate perfectly, the Diesel never disappoints, having that great, packed full-of-good-tobacco feel in my hand to go with that thick blue Diesel smoke. Recommended.

3 stars only because the Diesel's are so tightly packed its difficult to smoke. Also when I use my needle to loosen and create an airway the tightness of the roll makes my needle Crack the outer leaf. CAO was great and smooth.

Diesel was the best. Great burn and great value with cao.

Not a fair rating because the CAO is a better smoke. Separated I would say CAO a 4 and this particular Diesel a lowly 2. The Diesel burned faster than a bottle rocket and was very soft like only half of the tobacco was used. So in the end this Diesel was outclassed.

My first time trying the cao mx2. This is a real good cigar. Medium strength and a wonderful flavor profile of coffee and maybe cocoa. The diesel is very good as well with wonderful smoke and a spicy finish.

My favorite of the the samplers Intense by design

They both taste great and I think the price was really good but I’ve had five of the ten so far and three of those five have been hard to draw. I fought with them to stay lit and one even split near the band. I’m not that upset about it just a little disappointed. Maybe I should have let them sit in my humidor for a while first? I’m not an expert but I know a good cigar when I smoke it.

The MX2 is a solid performer. A full-bodied cigar that continues from start to finish. The Diesel - not so much.

The CAO was smooth and cigar was soft ,but the Diesel was hard not a smooth smoke . Tasted stale.

I’m a big Diesel fan who enjoys the deep rich full flavors. CAO MX2 is so smooth it checks all the boxes for me and is another go to for all occasions.

First impressions of my first Gentleman's Deuce combo from Cigars International (CAO MX2 and Diesel Unholy Cocktail). The MX2 was a good medium (double) Maduro with a smooth, complex smoke, and slightly peppery. Good from start to finish, but this first one was rolled a bit tight and had a stiff draw. The Diesel has a richer, medium to full bodied smoke, and a nice peppery tail end that I enjoyed. Burned evenly and good draw. Overall I'm very pleased with the combo especially for the price!

The CAO MX2 is hit or miss. Difficult to draw and typical Maduro flavor. The Diesel Unholy Cocktail is AMAZING by contrast. Super smooth and easy draw and evenly packed. Much better cigar.

The most enjoyable CAO smoke I've had yet. Solid ash, smooth flavor. Nice even burn. A bit of spiciness with hints of sweet. Like the review says; if you like a Maduro, you'll like this one. The Diesel is more of an earthy taste. But very enjoyable. Diesel is one of my favorite brands. ... Both are solid smokes. And for the price, you will not be disappointed. Enjoy.

Smooth draw, great value.

One of these cigars had some strange issue where I could draw from it but no flavor/smoke would reach my lips at all - never seen that happen in a cigar. I had to toss it, nothing I could do resolved the problem. Otherwise, this was a great value and excellent cigars!

Being a fan of both the CAO and Diesel lines, the MX2 and Unholy Cocktail is a great pairing. Both delivered a full punch of flavor and aroma. I'll buy this sampler again.

Pretty decent smokes, I like the Diesel's a little better than the CAO's. Both are very full bodied, and burn very well. Not a light smoke for a hot day, more of a sit down with your favorite brown liquor. For the price, these are a great value.

For the experienced smoker of fine strong flavors. Good draw and smoke that pleases.

The diesel unholy cocktail is one of the most satisfying Unbelievable treats of a smoke with long ash that's you can ever have Cio has a earthy Woody flavor that definitely pairs well with whiskey

If you enjoy stronger cigars, this is the sample for you. Of the 2, I prefer the CAO MX2. It's rich, intense and vibrant. The Diesel price is a no-brainer. The cigar has notes of earthy darkness, sweetness and leather.

Another sampler combo that I enjoyed very much. For me the Diesel was my favorite 🤩. The Diesel has been one of the strongest full bodies I’ve smoked but was full of nice notes after I rested them in my humidor for a few weeks. The Diesel started out with nice subtle pepper notes and finished with cocoa and chocolate notes that paired well with a cup of coffee. The MX2 was good stick with nice flavors as CAO always delivers with. Both sticks are winners but the edged out the MX2 for me. Will buy again! You won’t go wrong with combo.

This medium full combo hit the spot for both profiles. The CAO MX2 was a nice medium smoke with nice flavors and notes while the Diesel provided full flavor but smooth and tasty…this sampler is a very good combo of sticks at a decent price. The burn on both smokes was nice, a very satisfying combo.

This is a sweetheart of a deal. MX2 are nice full bodied cigars, burn well, good draw and enjoyable flavour. The Diesel are ok - a bit harsh but when looking for a cold weather shorter smoke, they are fine.

I like a stronger cigar and both of these passed the test. I like the match of these to tegether is sampler pack. I have had both of these before and will be looking for them to go on special again in the future. The smoke is dense and chewy, leaving a rich impression of earth, spices and some hits of nuts. Great burn and no spitting required.

The Diesels are excellent, a genuine bargain. Consistently well made, flavorful, and satisfying. The CAOs are acceptable but inconsistent. Some had relatively little flavor while others were decent.

I really enjoy the CAO MX2. It's a great smoke and satisfying. I like the Diesel also. Both smoke cool and satisfy.

As a lover of bolder flavors when it comes to cigars this sampler was excellent. I loved how the diesel flavor paired beautifully with the CAO flathead. These bad boys paired so well with my whiskey that I had to reorder these puppies. I have found new favorites in these bad boys that will see me come back again and again

cao's were brilliant, the diesels were a disappointment, hard to draw and super tight.

Both are great cigars. Although the MX2 is a double maduro (X2), it has a much sweeter, softer taste than the Diesel. AJ Fernandez is known for his stronger cigar profiles... I enjoy both, but the MX 2 is a good starter cigar... Enjoy them both. You will be totallt satisfied... Promise. LeRoy

The CAO MX2 is one of our go to favorites for a strong but mellow sweet flavorful, good smoke volume stick. The Diesel is also a favorite for the same reasons. It is different than the MX2, in subtle ways, but equally satisfying for a before dinner relaxation with some good sipping' whiskey.

Cao mx2 very smooth taste like licorice and chocolate. And the Diesel tastes strong spicy semi sweet peppery taste. Both very good burn slow and delicious. Good pairing too. Gotta little dark smoothness from the cao's and some strong boldness from the diesel. Let's ya see both spectrums of dark tobacco.

This was first introduction to CAO. I have enjoyed them though they are a little harsh. Great construction though and a nice even burn. I bought the mix to get one of my favorites, Diesel, at a discounted price while trying something new. If you haven’t tried Diesel, you must! I’m no aficionado, but I personally put them on par with the Oliva V on quality, construction, taste. I would also argue that they are as smooth as a Cohiba.

What great partners, as far as high-quality & consistency is concerned. CAO MX2 is a solid, robust, but not over the top smoke. The Diesels are definitely becoming a favorite of mine and always one to keep onhand. These are slightly shorter smokes, so great when time is a factor. Nice kick and plenty of flavor from both of these. Some of the nicest ash you'll find, says a lot about the quality and craftsmanship. No wonder the paired these together, it was a no brainier and a great deal.

The CAO one reminds me of a Ramon Beuso which is a pleasant surprise. You won’t want to put it out. Diesel is also another delicious cigar. Both flavorful. I didn’t detect much spice which is good for me, just full flavor.
