I am not surprised that all sizes are currently on backorder. To smoke one of these unique cigars is to want more. The aroma is like no other stick I have ever smoked. Enjoyed this one with some Facundo rum. But I think it would pair up even better with a nice small batch bourbon. And, on top of everything else, the cigar has a smooth draw and an even burn. Another excellent Nicaraguan cigar.
These cigars are like smoking the smoke off a wood burning meat smoker.
This one is quickly becoming one of my favorite cigars.
The Fat Molly is one nasty lady(in a good way) that is unforgiving if you aren't ready to bow to her authority.
Love, love, love the KFC.
I tried one of these for the first time last night and I was amazed. I never thought the word nostalgic could be used to apply to cigars, but when I first opened it and smelled that rich, sweet aroma, it evoked memories from my childhood that I had almost forgotten. Weekends in Gadsden, Alabama with my great grandparents back in the early to mid sixties. Neither of them smoked cigars, but they dipped snuff and it had a smell like the snuff they dipped. Tasted as good as it smelled, and very well constructed. I highly recommend them.
Wow if you like to smoke meat, or just sit around an oak wood camp fire, this is your cigar. Its like a little camp fire. Top notch cigar construction and full flavor. Simply awesome!
Great smoke but didn't expect anything less. Paired it with some Jack Daniels Honey and coke. They were made for each other. The smokey flavor of the KFC goes great with the sweet whiskey. Didn't have any issues with the two that I've smoked. After the first one I went and ordered 20 more that night.
Great smooth smoke with great taste all the way to the end. Smokes as well as a padrone but without the high cost! Great everyday smoke.
....If you enjoy a rich almost decadent smoky taste, this is your cigar. campfires on the beach, and so forth, or riding in your car/truck in the back woods and smelling the unmistakable smell of smoky goodness, this is the cigar for you!
Medium(in body) for me at least, well constructed, toothy, and an absolute perfect burn. This cigar is a lip smacker. almost as oily as a pork rib on the lips. just plain yummy......
Being from the Cincinnati/ Kentucky area these caught my eye. One of my favorite smokes. Great with beer, bourbon, or grilled meats. I prefer the Fat Molly. Love the things Drew Estate does and this one was no exception. Always in my humidor.
My god what a cigar freaking awesome, the aroma right out of the box is awesome backwoods/campfire smell just awesome!
Really really good! If you're into the MUWAT and want some smokey depth, this is for you! I love it!
This Fat Molly smoke was perfect with an 18 year Talisker. Made me want to go light a bon fire and smoke some ribs. Super smooth draw until my fingers were burning. Great job Drew Estate!
Probably one of the most unique cigars I've ever smoked. I used to smoke a pipe regularly and my favorite all time tobacco was Germains Special Latakia. This cigar is an exact replica of that smell and taste and I absolutely love it. Thank you Drew Estates and CI for this offering.
What a fantastic smoke. In a very simplified explanation, this smelled and tasted like beef jerky. But don't let that explanation fool you. The flavor is deep and complex. It's rich with a beautiful smoky flavor, but without a peppery bite. The flavor is so unique you'll be thinking about it long after you're done smoking it. Highly recommended.
Not a bad little cigar at all. Next time I will look closer at size, I am sure the larger ones will taste much smoother and smokier.
5 years ago I started my great education about cigars, I started with (Juicy Lucy) and I've grown and when I saw a fire cured cigar and by Drew & company I ordered a 10 PK of Fat Molly's. It's the most unique and outstanding cigar (in my mind). It has a sweet, deep smoky flavor. It's great with Jack Daniels or any good whisky or bourbon. It's Draws = 9. Burn = 10. Taste+10+. Max of Texas.
After that first long smooth draw, I thought to myself, this is one of the best (Fat Molly) cigars I've smoked so far. I've studied cigars now for over 5 years and it's rare to find one cigar that sticks in for mouth mind, POW KFC will be in my humidor for a long time and I shan't share any with my friends. sorry buy your own! Max of TEXAS
I've been smoking the "Just A Friend" toros for about 3 weeks now. These are great. I love the campfire aroma that they emit. Bystanders seem to like the aroma too; I've had several comments and no one has given me the wrinkled nose. These are unique however, and some hardcore purists may not like them. Me? These and Diesels will always be in stock at my house.
Smoked one of these about a week ago and had high expectations. The results were decent but the others sitting around me enjoyed the smoke more than I did. Tasted like beef jerky being smoked but more on the smokey end obviously. But unless you smell it lightly on the wind the smell of the BBQ smoke is diminished. All in all it is at least worth a try since it is so unique.
I'll leave this review short and simple! If you are a fan of English blend pipe tobaccos you will fall in love with this cigar! I smoked the FAT MOLLY and it has characteristics of a typical English blend! All the reviews I've read are spot on! Smoky, campfire, oily, meat smoker fire, lip smacking, bbq ribs! It's like an English blend pipe tobacco rolled in a cigar! I loved the cigar and the whole idea that I didn't have to babysit a pipe and clean it when I was done! If you've never smoked an English blend pipe tobacco please keep an open mind with this cigar! It's a great cigar, but with the fire cured tobacco it's flavor profile is like no other on the market! I hope this helps!!! SMOKE AWAY!!!!
Tried my first one after getting it in promo pack. Wow, was I suprised. Rich in flavor, easy on the pallette all the way through. Since then I have tried them all and my favorite is the "Chunky". This cigar is unique and has found a permanent spot in my rotation.
Love these cigars. They taste great. I highly recommend these to anyone.
I'd read some of the lukewarm reviews about the Kentucky Fire Cured and decided to take a chance. Not the worst, but surely not the best smoking experience for me. I let them rest in my humidor for about two weeks before trying the first one. I was expecting some really different and rich taste. But ehhh, the off flavor was lost in a tight draw. I will try another one after about two months in the humidor. If still the same then I won't buy again.
THEY TASTE LIKE A PIG ROAST! I LOVE THEM!
Great smoke!!!! The wrapper smell reminds of a southern BBQ smell. Sweet wood notes with a razor sharp burn. Based on the stick I had (Fat Molly), I will be ordering a box of these!!!
Exceptionally good cigar! Very smooth and aromatic.
After trying a couple of these fire cured smokes I had to say "Not Bad". Actually Not Bad at all. They are firm, which means the smoke will burn evenly. Well packed and long burning. There is a real camp fire experience going on here, you can actually taste what seems like Mesquite wood or maybe oak but none the less, you will taste a very well balanced collection of spice and wood and earth that is smooth yet full bodied. Try the Kyotos first; they have a 91 rating and they are just thrifty enough to warrant a try. I personally like the Fat Mollies, 82 rating and I can't really tell the difference in flavor. I really like these when I'm sitting on my deck at night with good friends. ENJOY!
Having a lot of family in Kentucky, I go there several times a year. For this reason, I really wanted to like this cigar. I didn't; it was like smoking a stick of wood. I never thought I would find a Drew Estate smoke that I didn't like. This would be a good one to give to that friend that wants a cigar, but only smokes once every year or two. Not much flavor and not very strong...on the other hand, it lights, burns and draws perfect!
Huge fan of Drew Estate. Being that I'm a sweet kind of guy, I figured I'll take a chance on the KFC. I'm smoking this as I do this review. First, I must say it's a smooth cigar. It really does smell like smoked meats, but in a good way. The draw is not as loose as I would like, but it's nothing crazy. To me it's kind of a medium cigar, not full at all. A great smoke from start to finish with notes of oak, slight pepper, hint of sweetness, hint of cocoa is what I get from this cigar. Not an over powerful cigar. It's just right in my honest opinion. Will keep this in my humidor. Don't think anyone should be disappointed! Great job DE.
I was holding back on ordering some of these. The reviews were making it sound like a piece of meat. I want a cigar. Well, CI had a deal that I jumped on, and I'm glad I did! This is an interesting smoke that doesn't over do it with that "camp fire" flavor that they're talking about. It's there, but it doesn't crush the great Drew Estates blend. If you want to step outside the box a little, give them a try. You just might find a new friend. :)
OH MY I paired this up with some wild turkey rare breed. This is by far the best I`ve ever smoked!! I like full bodied cigars and this one is a butt kicker (in a great way). The smokey flavor is awesome, burn is dead on and it has a sweet finish. I took this one down till I burnt my fingers!! I'll be buying more of these for sure and like always, CI rocks!! I like how the taste stays with you for quite some time; yum.
Taking it out of the wrapper and the first sniff gives you a pleasant smell of some kind of smoked meat. I was a little worried because that is such a unusual scent for a cigar, but after lighting it and a few draws later, it was a great smoke. I'm a fan now!
This one stinks to high heaven before being lit (reminds me of Talisker 10, smoky and salty smelling) once lit, it's alright, but I still couldn't lose that pre-light stench.
I've smoked a pipe as long as I've smoked cigars. This cigar reminds me of an English blend pipe tobacco. Not exactly Latakia tobacco, but smokey in that way. The construction is superb, burn is very good. The flavors are smokey and hearty. I laughed when these first came out thinking that this cigar would be a flop. These are excellent smokes!
Ok so I'd read mostly good reviews and a couple of bad ones before ordering the KFC (chunky). Drew Estate made these so I was intrigued. Upon opening the package I could smell the smokey Kentucky fire right away. I thought, maybe I've made a mistake, who really wants to smoke...smoke. After a couple days in the humidor I couldn't wait any longer so I cut and lit one up. Wow!!! Wow!!! Wow!!! Smokey Sweetness Baby! This cigar is Fantastical! If that's a word! It doesn't change as you get in to it, but then again you wouldn't want it to! I will, I say I will be buying more of these! Pick up a pack and you won't be disappointed! After all, Everybody Needs A Little , KFC!..... yep, that just happened.
Absolutely fantastic. I had to make a conscious effort not to take a bite of this one. Great flavor and finish.
Absolutely the best in cigars! Would highly recommend the Kentucky Fire Cured to anyone!
I am a HUGE fan of many of Drew Estate cigars. I love the original MUAT, Kuba Maduro, Tabak Especial, Undercrown, Natural, Opulence 3, Liga Privada No.9, and others. But this particular stick was not my cup of tea. Pre-light, it smelled like wet, burnt firewood. And it pretty much tasted like a camp fire all the way through. I got a hint of something salty, like BBQ sauce when the cigar burned up to where the band had been.
If you are a big fan of a robust smoky flavor. If you yearn for a mouthful of camp fire smoke… This would probably be your cigar. It isn't mine. But Drew Estate has me covered quite well with their other sticks. So I cannot complain.
