Customer Reviews of “Macanudo Robust”
I started out smoking a Macanudo Prince Phillip and I've never looked back. And the Mac Robust (Macanudo Robust- New Blend) is a great and consistent cigar.

I'm a big fan of the (Macanudo Robust (New Blend)) Ascot. It's a great smoke for those times when you really don't want too much. This one is just right.

A pleasant cigar with an even burn and slightly tight draw. (Macanudo Robust) Firm ash and pleasant flavour. Nice enough cigar that didn't really ring any bells.

This one hits the spot with me at least. It has a nice, cashew smell and flavor, a firm ash, and a little more pop than a regular Mac. I had a sampler of these and smoking one in the morning brightened my whole day.

I have just recently re-joined the cigar clan after a haitus of a few years. This is my first "review" and I have to say, the complexity of the Mac Robust (Hyde Park) took me off guard. I decided to try the Robust line after being a little put off by the "grassiness" of the ever-popular Cafe smokes - a bit too mild. I prefer mild-to-medium cigars - nothing over-powering. This fits the bill nicely. They are very well constructed with a great even burn, a nice draw (I prefer tight, but not too tight) and a nice thick plume of smoke. At first light I detect a nice woodiness (cedar) which gives way to spice (cinnemon/clove), then about halfway through a subtle sweet nuttiness (think almond/amaretto). Took my latest one down to the nub without much of a "bite". These are very complex, medium-bodied smokes with a wonderful mouth-feel without being overpowering. Definitely getting more of these into my rotation.

Just finished a tin of the Ascots. Mediocre at best. Out of the 10, maybe three were balanced cigars that held a nice ash. Other than that; they held a loose ash, a few were bitter, and were hard to develop a palate for. For the ones that did smoke well; they held a nice firm ash, had a mild degree of complexity given the size, and were not a bad smoke. Taste wise (for the good ones), very spicy, definitely medium bodied. A lot of the times, what they reminded me of were the bottom of a strong cup of coffee... Given the price, not bad, but would have preferred to add $5 to it for a better quality, small cigar (which is hard to find anyways). The light wrapper Mac's are a better buy in my opinion, I probably will not be buying these again.
