A: Yep. You can use almost any filtered pipe without the filter. It's just really a preference thing. Simply pull out the stem and remove the filter.

A: Absolutely, briar will last much longer and give you a much better smoke. Pipes are very personal so it's hard for me to say if one is better than the other. The difference between a $50 briar pipe and a $500 briar pipe is mostly aesthetics. If you like the look and shape of the Trivia then you found your pipe!
