06/22/2013 Hello do I need to use both the crystal gel humidity bead jar and the round humidifier that comes with the humidor? If so is there a humidifier that you recommend?

by AE of BROOKLYN, NY
A: The humidifier that came with your humidor will do the job. But if you're looking for something that is less hassle and more consistent (humidity wise) I would use the crystals. You don't have to use both, some people do, but the crystals are designed to replace the humidifier that comes with your unit. There are multiple sizes of crystals for different size humidors. You can view these by going to the Humidors tab on our site. Then click humidifiers. You should see several options which are all based on the size of your humidor. Humi-Care is our top-selling brand and I find them to be among the best you can buy.

06/29/2013 How long can you refill the jars until they must be discarded? I know the humi care product like this states 1yr.

by BD of Greenville, SC
A: Same, personally I've had success up to 2 years. You'll know when they go bad because the crystals will stop absorbing the water.

07/22/2013 I'm using one of these in a 50 count and my relative humidity has leveled off at 65%. The crystals are at the full line (using the pre-filled solution). Anything I can/should do to get it to 70%?

by TF of Whiteville, TN
A: 65% is where I keep my cigars. Chances are if you crystals aren't shrinking quickly your hygrometer is a few points off and needs to be calibrated. If they are shrinking quickly (by quickly I mean are you refilling them more than ever 2-3 weeks) consider a Humi-Care Power Stick to help supplement and save space. Please don't try to throw extra humidity at it till you are sure it's 65% or less, otherwise you're setting yourself up for a mold infestation.
