One of the BEST!
Had these Babies aging over the years and had one every now and then. They are super top notch. I wonder if the older ones I have are close to those made today? I sure hope they are. If so, they cannot be Beat!

Well Done
A very smooth Maduro, no harshness whatsoever. Beautiful wrapper with a perfect box press. Not quite as much flavor as some of my favorite maduros, however the flavor is pleasant and smooth, again with no harshness. Chocolatey indeed and well worth the price. I don't keep many in my regular rotation, but this one earns a spot for sure.

Great burn, and tons of flavor. In my top 5 ever.

601 Blue Label box pressed maduro robusto
This is one of my top 5 favorites. Every time I have one, I wonder why I still bother to buy other samplers.

Wow! What an amazing smoke. This 601 Blue is top of the line. Will definitely be getting some more.

Not bad, not bad at all.
I tried the 601 Blue Box-Pressed Maduro Robusto on a recommendation. It's a good stick though I am not sure I would buy them again. They lack in flavor from what I am used to smoking -- the Don Pepin Blue.

One of my favorite sticks
Beautifully constructed and full flavored box pressed maduro. Wonderful spice with notes of creaminess and earth. Highly recommend for smokers who love a quality smoke. Smoke em if you got em...enjoy

Delicious cigar! Can you spell; choc-o-laty"?
Customer Testimonials
I have two different types of 601 blues. One is a milk chocolate brown wrapper that is more of a “squeeze” press than a box press and heavy in hand. The other is a very dark chocolate brown wrapper that is very box pressed and light in hand. I can’t tell you the differences between the two smokes, but it may be that you get a cigar that doesn’t look like the picture posted to CI. But don’t let that get you down, either way the cigar is fantastic., a cigar that I believe has become a true classic and changed the way I looked at maduros. I can always count on a 601 blue when I need a cigar that is going to give me amazing flavor and perfect construction.
In keeping with the 601 tradition of great cigars, this one is no exception to the rule. Great flavors that any cigar smoker could enjoy, and while bold it is not overbearing. If you enjoy other 601s you will also enjoy these.
One of my favorites. I really enjoyed the La Bomba and figured I would give another 601 blend a shot. This smoke is pretty full flavored and full bodied. I usually enjoy most of my cigars with either a single barrel bourbon or scotch, however this smoke was best enjoyed by me with a cup of coffee. I found the flavor profile to be right in line with coffee notes and sweet tobacco flavors among other things. The flavor stays pretty consistent, I didn't find it to be particularly complex. Just smooth, consistent and strong. I went on to order a box and try to keep them in a regular rotation in the humidor. I'll continue to keep these stocked. I found they were best after about 3 months of sitting in 68%.
Smooth and delicious.. Great smoke.
Smoking my first 601 blue maduro out of ten and this is an awesome smoke. I'm trying to think of the right words to describe it; exotic, smooth, balanced. Aroma is sweet and chocolate like; I'm in love with this stick ! Lingering finish , just beautiful . After each pull I can't wait for the next. Gotta take it easy here cuz I'm feelin goood ! Maybe these should be illegal ?
The only problem I can find with these cigars is that they're out of stock so often, which should attest quite well to their quality. These fine cigars go well with most darker drinks (I prefer them with a Guinness or Crown Royal Black). They burn well and consistently, and definitely deserve their high rating. The flavor is rich and has an abundance of wonderful flavors. I use these alternatively with Rocky Patel Decades as my "celebration" cigars, and only my dearest of friends will get to smoke them with me.
Very well made. Perfect burn and draw. Rich intoxicating flavors, without overpowering my palate. God Bless Don Peppin for creating this beauty! God Bless CI for stocking it! Although this cigar costs a little bit more than my cigar budget wants to handle, it is without a doubt worth every penny. Trust me man, you cannot go wrong with this one.
I love a fine box pressed roll, this one included. They don't roll off the damn deck rail to boot! Although I would go to fetch it in any case since this one is really quite enjoyable.
This is a tremendous cigar. I just finished my first one, and it won't be my last. The subtle underlying sweetness mixed with the creamy coffee/nutty flavor is unlike anything I've had before. It just keeps getting better and better as you smoke it. Wow! I'm really impressed with this one.
601 Blues are one of my favorite cigars. Generally not a fan of box pressed sticks, but the flavor profile on these more than makes up for that. These Blues have one of the most layered flavor profiles of any cigar I've ever smoked. The cigar starts out great and gets better and better as I smoke it. The 601 Greens use to be my favorite in the line, I still love them, but these Blues are must try sticks.
IMO this is one of Pepin's best and if you like maduros it's a must try. First, it's a beautiful looking cigar with it's oily wrapper and box pressed shape. Of course, outstanding flavors follow the first draw, as with most Pepin sticks. Heavy coco/coffee undertones grow stronger as this one smokes. Order while you can and tuck a few of these away to enjoy for years to come!!
If you like a tasty Maduro then you are crazy if pass these up! Another excellent 601 is the Green. You can't go wrong with EO brand smokes. Great construction, draw, burn you name it they always deliver excellent cigars!
Great cigar, love the boxed press robusto. Top notch!
Man, I wish that I had a thousand of these in my humidors. This cigar is on par with the Pepin JJ Maduro. Awsome!!!
Light-up is wicked but 1/8 of an inch the oil taste dissipates a flavor profile of spice, wood, and chocolate follows. Truly a masterpiece and is a "poor man's" 1926 Pardon. Just my opinion. Worth every penny and then some.
30 seconds after lighting it was clear to my taste buds why this is so highly rated. Mild-medium fans, including myself, do not need to shy away from this smoke. The full flavors are refined and mellow. Nor is this one of those bitter and uncompromising maduros. This dark and oily wrapper is as sweet as candy. So all of you out there in CI Land have no excuses. Try this cigar! JL
Tasty, tasty, tasty!!It's cigars like this that keep me captivated -like the first time you experience a great cigar. With these (601 Serie Blue),it's always like the first time. One of the best maduros in the world, period. Thanks C.I.
Being cigar #6 of the 25 top cigars of 2009, the 601 Blue Box-Pressed Maduro is worth the price! Smooth with some spice. Excellent flavor and evolution.
When I've had a rough day I pour some good bourbon on the rocks and toast up a hefty 601 Blue torpedo and after the first few savory pulls on that bad-boy I realize I've got the perfect cigar in my hands. I wish they weren't so pricey but Don "Pepin" Garcia's products are definitely worth a few extra shillings. If my wife reads this please order me a box for my birthday!
