I agree 100 % with DS of vegas, I could not put this smoke down Wow I bought this at my local B&M because I swore I had them on my wish list so I wanted to try it. Great taste especially after the first 1/3. Burn, draw all of it was perfect. I nubbed it and I wanted more. You are missing out if you dont get some and add them to your collection!
Very easy to light. Very good construction, draw and burn. Medium smoke output with a slightly oily feel on the palate. Light flavors with medium strength. Muted flavors of dry cocoa, leather and cream. Slightly sour medium length finish of leather and dry leaves.
I first smoked the Titan and just finished a Toro SLR. I used a Bugatti punch and lighter combo to get this thing going.... Construction was good and the burn was good as well requiring no corrections. But honestly this cigar is nothing special and I say it is one dimensional in my opinion. All I got through the 1/3 & 2/3 was a peppery spice. I kept waiting for more, but it never came.... Now to be fair the SLR I have had are not bad.... Fair to good would be conservative. I have smoked many cigars, and upon trying the first one I turned around and bought a box. This is not one of them. I have 4 remaining in my humidor and maybe they will be better after long rest....
One of my favorite cigars in the world. I always keep a few of these in the box for those special moments in life when only the best will do.
The first one I put a match to smoked really bad. At the half way point I just cut in half to see if there was a problem. Sure enough, only a small portion of the middle was burning. A total waste of a cigar. Later that day I fired up another one & it was perfection. This is far from the normal full body cigars I smoke. Nevertheless, I enjoyed the flavor, even burn, & ample smoke it produced. This is probably as good of mild to medium smoke one could want. I would recommend putting these on your list to try.
You can't beat this little cigar for the price! It has been my regular smoke for a long time and is always consistent. Thank you!
Saint Luis Rey is one of my favorite cigars. I usually smoke the SLR Rothchilde in the Maduro wrapper, but CI doesn't seem to carry those, so I tried out the SLR Rothchilde in the Habano wrapper instead. I was not disappointed in the least. I received my box of 50 SLR Rothchildes and after smoking the first one, I knew that I should start thinking about ordering another box of 50 right away. The SLR smokes well throughout, and definitely holds its flavor all the way down to the nub, although it did get a bit painful near the end when my mustache caught fire. Can't wait to order another box of these little flavor bombs as soon as I make room in my humidor for them. Maybe by then, CI might have these in the Maduro wrapper as well as the Habano.
DAMN NICE CIGAR, DAMN NICE
Picked this as my after work smoke and was glad I did. Had no clue where I picked it up or how long it had been sitting in my humidor.
I decided to take it to a park and man, from start to finish it was fantastic. I smoked this one right to the nub and was sad to see her go. I recommend this stick to anyone who wants to go to the stronger side, without being overwhelming. I'll be seeking this one at my local cigar shop as early as tomorrow.
Mellow, spicey, creamy, leather and coffee with cream goodness. Why this cigar doesn't get the good reviews I'll never know. Wait. I know! It seems a lot of people want to smoke cigars that are overly strong. This cigar is mmmmeeelllo, it's like a Leon Redbone cigar if they made one. Hey...there's an idea! Laid back, semi sweet and mellow. That's the way i'd decribe this smoke.
Well, not a bad smoke. I don't consider them great as there didn't seem to be much in the way of flavor. I will say that the burn is absolutely perfect and there is lots of smoke and the wrapper is thick and oily.
This is a really great smoke, especially for the price. It is worth twice the price!
I just love the Titan, sized just right for me. Always have them in humidor,They can be hard to find at times in your local shops, but CI always have em.
I received 5 sticks yesterday and smoked 3 already. I'm trying to hold out until my next batch arrive. I had wonderful experience with all 3 cigars and I know that within a few weeks it's going be great experience not only a wonderful experience. Very smooth an creamy. They burn very well and draw perfect. I'm not saying these are best smoke in town. Try them you're not going be disappointed and if you are it's just more sticks for me.
"What a cigar (Saint Luis Rey) unable to put it down, one of my top ten smokes. If your humidor is without, you best get with the program. A very full cigar all the way down to the nub. I can't wait to smoke the other 5 I have aging in the humi. Great job CI with the price #1 in my book of online service".
A classic Nicaraguan flavor (Saint Luis Rey) indeed. I love a good smoke from Nicaragua every time and this one is in my top list. You really can't go wrong with this cigar, it's full flavor and easy draw make it a hit.
I smoke the SLR maduro in the robusto size. I judge all other cigars by this brand...including my Cubans. They are just that good. Smooth, robust, rich, aromatic, visually appealing, great smoke. Tight, almost snow white ash. I tear up when I light these sticks...knowing that in less than an hour, my moment of sheer bliss will be over...until I light up the next one!
I gotta agree with my neighbor in Milwaukee, these St. Luis Rey's are a premium cigar at a midland price of around $3.00. You won't find a better medium to robust cigar at this price. It is one of my favorite and regular smokes. I've smoked the Rothschilde and the Torpedo--both are excellent. This cigar may just be one of the best kept secrets around.
All I can say is that I read that the Saint Luis Rey "Belicoso" was a 91 in Cigar Aficianado and after smoking 5 of these bad boys I ordered a box from CI (My first CI purchase!) for $3 apiece including tax, these are the best bang for the buck you can find.....a great burn...a GREAT everything. Can't go wrong with these.
I read in Cigar Aficionado that the Saint Luis Rey Reserva Especial Chuchill was rated at 91, right behind a cigar that cost over three times as much. I couldn't resist seeing what I thought.
It is really a great cigar for the money and I can see why they rated it this high.
I'll be buying some more for sure.
Really smooth and mild. Firm in the hand and burns evenly. And the wood box the selection of 25 came in was a surprise too. Looks really expensive in the presentation. Really a good buy even if it had come in the usual plain plastic bundle. And..... at about $3 a stick, shipping and all, a very good buy.
This cigar (Saint Luis Rey)packs an excellent robust flavor. It comes with the flavor of a $5.00+ cigar but cost less. It has a good aroma and can be smoked to the nub without burning the tounge or losing its flavor.
