I don't normally care for Punch, but I was given a coffin El Doble and to my great surprise loved it. Had it with a glass of Weller, and the flavors that popped out of the cigar and whiskey combination were astounding. I'm a CAO fan through and through, but this was one of the tastier cigars I've had in a long time. I don't know if it was the cigar or the whiskey, or the combination but tastes of vanilla, cocoa, and almond. Surprisingly not harsh, never hot, great draw. Relit it for the last 3 inches after dinner and it got a little tough for the first inch but mellowed.
I just had my first Punch Rare Corojo. Smooth, even burning, good flavor. I enjoyed it a lot. I will smoke more for sure. I wouldn't say it is a thrilling smoke so if you are looking to have your socks knocked off this ain't it. However it is a good easy, smooth, enjoyable smoke. Sort of like eating comfort food.
I just have to say I would smoke these all the time if I could The Punch Corojo Rare has got to be one of the best I've smoked, and thanks to CI I've been able to sample top shelf more than before with that other place ( that thinks it's in competion), and my favorite little shop.
The PRC (Punch Rare Corojo) Rothschild is a very nice "go to" stick. Burn, draw, appearance, taste, taste of wrapper, coolness of smoke, all those categories are very well satisfied. Notable item (in addition to a super taste) - the silver-gray ash stays on and intact very, very well. Only criticism I could offer is the smoke volume was, for me personally, just "moderate", and that could have been something applicable to just the three I smoked rather than the cigars on average.
This is a cigar that will convert the occasional or "something-different-every-week" smoker to having a "favorite".
The Punch Rare Corojo is a wonderful smoke. I have only been smoking the various Punch blends for about 18 months, and I like the Rare Corojo and the Gran Puro the best. Both are rich and tasty, solid middle-weights with good balance. This year, I am going to try a recommendation and let a box age for a year - that is if I can keep my hands off of them that long. Highly recommended.
The Punch Rare Corojo Magnum is as smooth a smoke that can be found. Even burn, nice draw and absolutely no bite. Mellow taste with a pleasing aroma. I don't think it can be beat for the price.
The best description for this smoke is Velvet, as it is so smooth and rich (Punch Rare Corojo). I recently had a few at a friends house and heard someone complain about cigar smoke. I laid one of these bad boys on him and now he owns two humidors. I will always have these in my humidor alongside customs and Cubans.
Without a doubt one of the best stogies ever (Punch Rare Corojo). The box pressed shape sits perfect in your fingers. The flavors that poured out of this stick were incredible and the burn and draw were superb. Treat yourself right now to one of these, who cares what the wife says, and you can thank me later.
Without doubt, my favourite Punch.(Punch Rare Corojo) Wonderful flavour, excellent draw and burn. Just a fine cigar.
i understand this is wrapped in a equadorion wrapper , not a corojo. no matter, it does taste like a corojo wrapped cigar. this was a fine medium to full body cigar. light spice, earthy coffee undertones and smooth to the nub. i rate it a solid 90.
This is the best Punch cigar ever made. It is strong and complex. I have some of these aged for years and they never lose their strength and complexity.
Made once a year so you must buy them.
By far, one of the best cigars made outside of Cuba! Great flavor, burn and draw. Strong from the first light down to the nub. Couldn't put it down until my fingers started to burn. Great with single malt scotch, port or brandy. Not for the light-hearted. Rated a 10!
I really like these cigars. They burn true, have a nice draw and taste great. Buy them and you will not be disappointed.
Love the flavor so I bought a box. I'm disappointed because at least one in four have a draw so tight that I have to throw it out. Maybe I got a bad box but they are too expensive for me to take a chance on another box. Love my MOW. Not a bad one in the box!
Don't know if I can say I've had a bad Punch. Then I had one of the Rare Corojo Champions. Took a while to get used to the odd shape, but was loaded with flavor and the burn was perfect. Well worth a try if you're a Punch fan or just enjoy a quality smoke.
I read in some cigar snob rag that these are not "true corojos". Don't care. They're real good, that's all I know. Great value, too. Cheap enough to be a daily smoke, good enough to share w/ friends.
Punch makes THE BEST Cigars on Planet earth! If a flying saucer landed in my pasture and they asked for the best cigar I knew of, it would be one of these!
Without a doubt, the best cigar I have ever smoked. If I hit the lottery I am filling my new walk in humidor with boxes of these babies! I am not a fan of any other Punch smoke, but this one does it for me. I can just sit out on the deck with one of the El Doble and a great cup of coffee and just let my day melt away.
Great cigar, no issues.
These mild cigars are great for a quick smoke.
I've just started smoking cigars and I've been trying different brands and styles for the past several months. This cigar was by far the nicest smoke that I've tried! It started with the beautiful packaging; a red velvet lined cedar box with each cigar suspended on a platform. The cigar itself is impressive, a nice deep brown patina with a very nice shape. The cigar smokes very smooth and burns absolutely perfect. It was never harsh, even at the very end. I would buy this cigar over and over again. As a matter of fact I smoked 2 of them today while playing golf.
There are so many cigars to try, it makes my head spin. Truth is there are some stand outs, this is one of those gems you keep in the humidor.
My 1st real cigar was a Punch Rothschild many, many years ago. Back when all the former Cuban manufacturers were setting up shop in The Dominican Republic with smuggled Cuban seeds. Back then, they all took a turn for the milder. Except one. Punch used Honduran & Nicaraguan tobaccos to keep a Cubanesque profile, as well as most of the former strength. I was sold. Many years later Punch introduced me to the joys of the Corojo leaf. Enter Punch Rare Corojo. I was hooked. Although I have had many other Corojo cigars since then, I can tell a Rare Corojo after a few puffs. Consistency, affordability, quality. That's Punch.
Perfect size, great flavor! A highly underrated cigar!
