“All I have to say is wow awesome cigar.”
“Absolutely the most bombastic cigar, i've smoked, since the Edge, the "MAN O' WAR RUINATION". You want distinct flavors.... you can taste the marriage of these fine tobaccos, in this potent stick. No one particular taste, takes center stage, rather a combination of flavors that envelopes your palate and sends you taste bud's rockin'. You know your smoking something special here. Don't miss this one. Tip: smoke on a full stomach. Later.”
“I beleive God was behind the blend of Man O' War Ruination, thats the only way to explain why it's so divine.”
“I've always been a nice medium Maduro kind of guy, but I heard some really good things about these sticks, so I had to try them. Now to start with I thought full body would be to much for me, but this is the smoothest smoke I've ever had. Loads of flavor and nice cool smoke. Easy draw with a pleasant sweet smell that lingers for a bit after a puff. Get a box. No, get 2. Get a bunch! Then be careful on that final 3rd of each. These should be labeled with a warning: DO NOT OPERATE HEAVY MACHINERY OR A VEHICLE WHILE, OF AFTER SMOKING.”
“My favorite is Alec Bradley's Prensado for its bold flavor and kick. Man O' War Ruination is right there with it. A potent sucker tis one. One small tip, the smoke is a lot harsher if the cigar is dry. I tried it the first time straight off the truck and wasn't very impressed. I then tried another after it had been sitting in my humidor and wow wow wow what a difference that made. Great smoke start to finish.”
“OMG!!! 2 months ago I didn't smoke anything over a medium body cigar, now I prefer only smooth flavorful full bodied cigars, Man o War Ruination Robusto #2 is the Angelina Jolie of awesome cigars. Built like a brickhouse, smooth, hot, spicy, and oh so very very flavorful!!! Just an incredible cigar worth every penny even for a guy like me on a cigar budget!”
“I smoked my first Ruination with a cup of coffee and was impressed to no end. This outperformed many cuban cigars I have tried.
A few days later, I had another with a couple of fingers of fine Japanese whiskey and it knocked my socks off.
This stick is worth every penny and I highly recommend it.
“The Man O' War Ruination, the 2010 MVP of cigars. OUTSTANDING!”
“This is exactly what you're imagining when you buy a premium cigar. Well built, perfect draw, even burn, tasty without leaving your mouth feeling like it needs to take a shower. I even smoked it outside, on a snowy New England day, and it weathered the storm nicely.
I'm new to cigar smoking, and trying all kinds of cigars right now .. I have a feeling my sampler packs are about to be outnumbered by Ruinations.”
“Time for review number two. After trying the Ruination in all different sizes, it was worth commenting again. Started with a #1, made my way #2, and currently enjoying my personal fave: the belicoso. Fireside. With bourbon (as always). This one is damn near cigar perfection, and yet the number 2 I found to be just too much...I think the "smaller" ones are much more balanced. I keep trying to see if the Ruination is overrated. It's not. Stay smokey my friends.”
“The Man O' War Ruination: a BIG cigar with an even BIGGER taste. Much like the original MOW's but with a bit more spice and lots of leather, oak and cedar flavors. A very complex cigar that you will savor. Love 'em.”
“This is not a cigar...it is a work of art. It is as aesthically pleasing to hold and watch burn as it is flavorful to smoke. Enjoy the Ruination alone without any distractions...you will want to give it your undivided attention.”
“I'll keep it short and sweet. One of the best cigars offered today or any day. Sooo good!
“I order about $300 of cigars per year, mostly use them for summertime golfing. I always order the samplers hoping to run into THE cigar. When I lit the Ruination, from lighting it, from the first puff to the last puff...it was what I was looking for. Not to heavy, but packs a good punch. Burned perfectly, satisfying. Smooth as silk, this one is priced on the higher end, but worth saving quarters in your piggy bank for this one!”
“all I can say is wow, had a few of these in the humi from sampler packs I had ordered. they got buried and I finally smoked my way down to them. Im a medium to full fan but for some reason was expecting this one to be a lil too much so i decided to approach it carefully. Figured a simple beer and a sit on the porch with the lazy cat laying nearby and the calm before a storm approaching would do the trick. Upon lighting it was as I had expected, kind of harsh for my tastes..but as the cat as my witness I swear within a couple minutes it smoothed right out! Dont get me wrong, its a strong stick, but all of the best reviews here are right on the money about what a great gar this. I sat there ... looked at the cat in amazement and went .. **** this is an excellent gar ! The cat wasnt impressed but I sure was so I decided to throw in my two cents. Hope it helps some of you who might not have tried otherwise ... enjoy !”
“Very full, smooth, and distinctive. How many times have you smoked a cigar that, while good, doesn't stand out? This one stands out. It has a sweet, almost malted-flavor to it along with very noticeable dark chocolate flavor.”
“I have rarely enjoyed a cigar that made in instant impression on me the way the Man O' War Ruination has. My preconceptions were levelled, this stick is a bold statement, with understated manners. There are nutty hints throughout, but a consistent draw and silky bouqet. There is a sexy sheen to oily to the wrapper bidding you to succomb... if you love a bold statement, make it with a Ruination.
My rate this stick: 91”
“One of the finest cigars I have ever smoked. (Man O' War Ruination Belicoso)”
“This is the second review I have done for this brand. The Man O' War Ruination belicoso is simply the best and most complete cigar I have ever smoked. I have smoked most of the top cigars in the world, including many Cubans. I can honestly say in my experience with this cigar, it can't be touched by other so called premium cigars. Looking forward to smoking the Armada next for a possible new favorite. It will have to unbelievably good though to top the Ruination.”
“The MOW Ruination is a top of the line smoke. I have to say the first inch or so is definitally on par with some of the Cubans I have smoked in the past. It is full bodied like no other, strong, spicy, bold and complex. That alone should put this cigar as a key contender for Cigar of the Year, which after CI takes my advice and creates a Cigar of the Year competition with the usual mind-blowing savings accompaning the winner. Thankfully, the rest of the cigar smokes like a dream, reinventing the use of the words 'velvety,' 'toasty,' and 'balanced.' Other cigars claim use of these words but in no way come close to producing these results. My hat goes off to Ruintation and my deepest respect goes out to AJ for bringing us this fantastic smoke. 95 easy. This may be a bit pricy, but for once, it is sooo worth it.”
“Wow, what a full cigar this is. I just had the cigar in my mouth un-lit and I could taste the spice on my tongue. This cigar begins with a very peppery start, but practically dissappears after the first third. I couldn't believe how smooth it became. This is a very enjoyable cigar, ton of flavor.”
“Ruination is one excellent cigar!! I expected to find a powerhouse with ample (maybe too much) spice and pepper on the finish. However, for being a powerhouse, this cigar is a bit more subtle than that! It starts out very full flavored with a touch of pepper but opens up into a very smooth cigar that just explodes with flavor and body. Very nice construction with even burns every time. This is a must have in every humidor. Good job CI in making this one affordable enough for a working man to buy!!”
“Appearance and construction: This cigar looks great. The almost veinless wrapper, the band, the color, all combine to look like something from you hope to see a comic book anti-hero keeping clenched between his teeth.
Taste: Starts off with a blast of pepper, then settles through the first half with a smooth, leathery tobacco flavor. Plenty of smoke, but not the voluminous plumes I normally associate with an AJ Fernandez cigar.
At the midway point the intensity steps up, the pepper flavor mixes with a vanilla note. The cigar really finds its stride here. Finishes with an increasingly intense peppery tobacco.
Conclusion: The cigar finds itself in an odd middle ground; not quite complex enough to be a real treat, but a bit too powerful and expensive to find a permanent place in my humidor. I give it an 89, and well-earned.”
“Loved it! Great smoke.”
“So good it hurts... (Man o' War Ruination Belicoso)”
“A first for me and what a surprise ! ... scoring a "10 plus" on my palate ... held a white ash as long as I'd wanted to hold it ... The flavor is full, and does not fall short by no means, all the way through the perfect burn! An hour and a half smoke of pure intense perfection !”
“Man O' War Ruination: My current favorite. This are unbeatably good right outta the box, but put some age under that band and it's lights out hands down best smoke you'll ever put between your fingers. The MOW was in my top five already so I thought eh these can't be any better...WRONG, WAY BETTER!!!”
“Wow! The Man O'War Ruination is by far the best cigar I've ever smoked. If the box price is a bit too much, then get the sampler tin for only 49 bucks. Every cigar smoker owes it to themselves to try this cigar.”
“Wow, I am ruined for sure. I may never be able to smoke another cigar without comparing it to these. Dogone that is good in the morning, son, what is in that dirt in Nicaragua?”
“I got one of these in a sampler. This might be the best cigar I have had to date. Amazing flavor, full bodied cigar with a great aroma when smoked. Yet it does not leave that strong cigar odor on your hand. All around great smoke. If the price were a bit lower I would stock my humidor with these. If you dont mind 8 bucks a stick then this is your cigar.”
“Wow. That was the first word I could think of when I smoked this last night. I picked up a 10 pack from the last Jam and received them yesterday. I know I should have let them sit but I just couldn't resist! I had one that night and it was one of the best smokes I have had. I love the Diesel (both the Cocktail and Shorty) and the 5 Vegas AAA but the MOW Ruination (Robusto #2) really is a treat. It is a massive cigar but feels luxurious in your hand. The wrapper almost feels like velvet. The flavor this cigar produces is delicious. I'm not the best at describing the individual notes, but if you like the Diesels, Padron 1964 maduros, and the AAA's, you will LOVE this smoke. I'd pay up to $20 locally for this cigar if it was a special occasion and the Padrons weren't available...No brainer here. Can't wait to try the other sizes. This is a MUST smoke!”
“Just finished smoking Mow Ruination WoW my stomach still hurts and I mean that in a good way this cigars means business strong ,spicy, and flavorful, not for beginners please!! If you dare, please take your time with this baby, because it could put you to Bed...”
“A.J.Fernandez knocked this one out of the park! This takes complexity to a new level-enjoyed it so much, personally it was a 95-98-unbelievable!C.I.,thanks again.”
“Holy Stupendous Stogie Batman.... grabbed 4 of these in a sampler at the CI store and this thing is just amazing. "The flavors Duke... the flavors!!!" When I took this cigar out of the packaging I really just kind of stared at it for 10 minutes or so. It's so darn beautiful you almost hate to light it. I might even make a point to say that two friends of mine smoked Isla Del Sols in half the time it took me to get through this. Definitely felt a bit of a buzz from it too. Now if it just wasnt so pricy to buy on its own. Anyone know if the Man O' War seconds are up to par? 15 of em for 60 bucks is pretty tempting.”
“great cigar! I picked up some definate dark chocolate or cocoa undertones, as well as earth, cedar and leather flavor. This ones good all the way down to the "finger burning nub"!”
“I laughed, I cried, I thought I would die of happiness. It kicked my butt and made me ponder the meaning of life. Fully one hour and a half of pure bliss.”
“Kicked by butt from the beginning and kept on coming. What a smoke!!!!”
“These grew on me big time. At first I didn't think they were that great. After some aging, they are one of the absolute best cigars made today.”
“Without doubt one the best cigars I have ever smoked. BAR NONE!! I am not a fan at all of the extra full bodied spicy sticks but this one is unbelievable. After the initial kick, well, it keeps on kicking and delivering mind-boggling flavors and bold compexity. Fantastic!!”
“Just smoked the MOW Ruination...two words- Po Tent. I'm still a bit light headed as I write this. It starts off strong like King Leonidas and then mellows into a smooth, tasty treat. Fit for a Spartan!”
“This cigar kicked my butt. About half way through, I was begging for it to stop. But "Man-O-War, Ruination" just doesn't stop - it keeps coming at you. "Strap on your bike helmets", for sure, this is the real deal. If you want a cigar that will bring you to your knees, this is the one. It is worth every penny, but know what you're getting in for.
“This is as close to a "perfect" cigar that can be had. These compare with and beat almost anything out there.”
“Well this topped them all off. I had the regular MOW, and then the Virtue, but this... this beat them all! Some of the best flavor in a cigar, it is definitely among the best I've had. Also thanks to CI for getting all these cigars out to Afghanistan so fast. You guys are amazing and you've got a customer for life!”
“MOW Ruination, turn the M upside down and it’s WOW. First off this stick looks wonderful, as a matter of fact the color is such a beautiful shade of dark mahogany that I swear it looks painted on. I actually had to take a white tissue, dampen it slightly and wipe the stick just to convince myself that it wasn’t, but nothing showed up on the tissue, the tobacco is really this color! The construction is darn near perfect, it’s very difficult to discern where the wrapper overlaps, very few veins and quite heavy in the hand, all signs of an ultra-premium cigar. This is the best smelling pre-light ever: intense mocha java coffee and leather. After toasting the foot there is an explosion of pepper and spice and I’m thinking, man there’s no way that I can handle this bad-boy, then at about a half inch in it smoothes out, becoming coffee and cream with nutmeg. After a third or so chocolate gets added to the mix, leather, spices then an explosion of pepper again. I paired this one with water, so as not to spoil the taste at all. It started to stomach me about half way through and I got hiccups YES! The buzz was wonderful, taking my mind places only a very special cigar can. I nubbed this baby to the point of burning my fingers and didn’t care. I was sad when it was finished. I hear the brick and mortars don’t carry these…The CI Nation triumphs again! MOW WOW!”
“Wanted to see what all the hype was about, now I know. Very impressive 660. I've only been enjoying cigars for a short time, but even a noob like me can appreciate this kind of craftsmanship. Gonna save my change and buy a box on my next order!”
“Man O War Ruination, I have been saving a couple of these sticks for a while, I am a "man of war" myself and the name alone just caught my attention. I smoked a single stick at the house, with a glass or 3 of Smithwick's Ale, couldn't get any better than that. I punched the stick, toasted the end and it was a smooth brilliant smoke for it's entirety! I will be keeping these in stock, I can't wait to try the other Man O War cigars, if they all end up like the Ruination smoke, I'll buy the Man O War humidor to go with my collection of their cigars!”
“Ruination is a freakin' stick of dynamite! First impression was that I loved the way it felt in my hand. There's a lot of spice in this one, but I enjoyed it. At one point about 1/3 of the way through, the roof of my mouth felt like it was coated in pepper. But Ruination is also smooth and buttery. A complex and enjoyable stick!”
“So far, this has been the one cigar to rival my long running favorite (the gran habano 3 siglo). If you haven't tried them yet, you'd be in for a treat in my opinion! Back to topic though, this cigar starts off strong, spicy, peppery for the first inch. It then goes to a more subdued, but definitely strong middle, and that strength comes in waves. Finally you end with a nice stout finish, which I whittled down to the "finger-burning nub". I'd like to think that the 3 siglo is very similar in taste, however it doesn't take you on the roller coaster that the ruination does. This could easily be my #2 cigar, and maybe YOUR #1”
“I've smoked several of these now. Unbelievable consistency. Top shelf construction. Amazing filler blend that hits the sweet spot from the second you light it. Full bodied but not harsh. Definitely my current favorite. You will not be disappointed.”
“This sticks rocks from start to finish, period. Smooth and strong, complex, not overbearing- anything but boring- I put it right up there with an Airbender.”
“Wowsa, yowsa flava-bomb! Gosh this is a yummy strong smoke that threatens at once to be cruel, but then rewards you with mellow, warm, buttery, star cigar power. Ya wanna sit down as this one kicks, but not at all unpleasant. Great accurate review that suggests it brings ya to the edge of being uncomfortable, but eases back and makes the ride a smiling, flavorful blast! The flavor is so hearty, yet balanced and delicious. I wish these were more affordable. See a deal on 'em? Nab it then nub it!”
“Bought them in a sampler, forget the upper crust descriptions"leathery, with a hint of caramel moca" Whatever! Great smoke, did I mention WOW!!!!!!!!!! this is a great smoke!!!!!!!!!!!! Well constructed, cant imagine a better blend. PERFECT draw, PERFECT.....DRAW..... top shelf taste! beautiful white ash. Lush thick smoke. Beautiful wrapper. Clearly on track with Patel, Gurka, Perdomo, Ortiz, and Pepin. Absolutely one of the best sticks on the market at any price.”
“This cigar came in the sampler; Choice Cuts Premium 54 Ring. The first thing I noticed was the beauty of the construction. It didn't take an expert to see how well this cigar was rolled. The same can be said with the flavor, burn, and never heated up like many others do as they get close to the end. Because of this, I smoke it until my fingers would have gotten burned had I have gone any longer. It has a smooth moderate flavor that kept you wanting the cigar to last a long time. I can't see any one not liking this cigar regardless of being mild, moderate, or full flavored. You can believe that there will be some in my humido in one of my future orders.”
“This cigar is pure AMAZING!! BEST CIGAR I have ever had the pleasure of smoking. Mr. Fernandez has done beautiful work on this cigar. Im a big fan of Mr. Fernandez's work. Man O' War Ruination's blend of Cuban-seed Nicaraguan and Honduran long-leaf ligeros is purely a heavenly smoke. I MUST save up my mu-lah and buy a box. This smoke is one to buy over and over AND OVER again. Because Ruination is consistantly perfect in burn, flavor, smoke, and overall quality, over and over and OVER AGAIN AND AGAIN. Perfection!!”
“The Belicoso burned great for the large ring gauge. The cigar itself noted flavors as described, with a good draw and construction to fit the bill. The only thing I didn't like was the aftertaste. Above average in most categories, an 85.”
“It is a pleasure knowing that there are still people in the world that take pride in their work. My hat is off to Mr. Fernandez and the employees of Tabacalera Fernandez for producing such fine products as the Man 'O War Ruination. Cigars like this are the reason I smoke, sheer enjoyment. This stick is outstanding in every way. If you have the opportunity, I highly recommend it.”
“Man O' War ruination corona: this cigar needs to available at CI. I don't know if any of you gar heads out there had the opportunity to purchase the 10 pack that was offered a few months back but it really says something about the blending this company has accomplished. The perfect size to capture the essence this cigar was intended to showcase. I've smoked the other vitolas in the line and this corona it definately the best. I just cant figure out why there isn't any offerings here or anywhere for that matter. If any of you out there know where to score the corona size please post something here. CI, do your magic and get these in the line up...”
“Question for MB of MA: have you had the chance to purchase the corona size of the ruination? If not, your comment about the smaller the better will be exemplified with this size. If any others have tried and enjoyed this size we need to band together to bring this amazing cigar in "box" form to availability at CI...”
“I have enjoyed several of these and just ordered the Full Bodied Frenzy Sampler just for these. I am not an expert on cigars by any means but I cannot imagine a more perfect smoke.
Excellent construction, beautiful to look at, feels like it was designed to fit perfectly in my hand, a full multi-layered taste that keeps you guessing what awesomeness is next, smoke that looks like puffy white clouds on a summer day, snow white ash that holds on as long as you want it to and a perfect burn right down to the nub every time. Ruination is worth every penny and by far my favorite cigar.
“This is the best cigar that I've bought from CI. Excellent construction, beautiful burn, and Cuban flavor complexity. Good thing it came in a sample pack, because I would never have bought this by itself due to it's silly name and strange looking label. This is an excellent cigar though - I highly recommend it.”
“My personal favorite of the Man O War lines. The Ruination. I ordered these in a box-pressed sampler and immediately fell in love with it from start to finish. Flavor abounds. Burns perfectly... slow and even. Oily wrapper right when I got it, since then it has been sitting in my humidor for 4 months - eagerly waiting for spring and summer to smoke the rest of 'em. Will definitely order a box of torpedoes.”
“After trying the Ruination, I had to try the robusto Man o war. This is one powerful cigar when first lit then evens out to a well balanced cigar loaded with flavor. Very similar to a Camacho Corona. They rate as a medium full but really are full bodied. Highly recommened.”
“I first tried the robusto in the True Grit Sampler(highly recommened) and was blown away. Well balanced and full bodied, this cigar as satisfying as any cuban I have smoked. A box of these will be in my humidor soon.”
“I got my first in a sampler pack. Ye know not what you're about to smoke. This is the cigar that has made my mild cigars "give aways" to my buddies. It's weird because my first one hit me in the face so hard I got dizzy. Now they're the only ones I want to smoke. Get you a glass of single malt Scotch, fire one up and hang on for the ride. I've never done illigal drugs but I now know why people do. But these are perfectly legal!”
“Your humidor is empty with out one of these sticks. It's not a good cigar, it's a great cigar! I hope you all enjoy them as much as I do.”
“I've been enjoying cigars for over 25 years and Man o War Ruination has now become the newest member in my top five favorites. The only problem I have with this cigar is that it isn't a foot longer.”
“Bought a 5 pack of the Ruination belicosos a month ago and put them in the humidor to breath. Smoked the first today. Wow, I love this stick. Great wood and earth flavors. Construction is impeccable. I am beginning to think A.J. Fernandez is a cigar genius that can do no wrong.”
“Smooth and creamy and an absolute treat. Well built and great to look at. Solid burn, perfect draw and tasty til the last inch. Aroma is pleasant and doesn't ward off everyone around you. Pairs great with coffee, wine, scotch, hell I've had so many of these sticks I've even paired it with chocolate milk. Don't be scared of the full-body label all of you aspiring aficionados, you must give this a try if you do venture to the full body. Don't pass up on these, this is a staple in my humidor.”
“Love these...keep both the belicosos and the #2s around all the time.
One thing, and I hope CI will take note of this subtle suggestion:
MAKE THE CORONAS AVAILABLE ALL THE TIME!!!”
“After having smoked two boxes of the Robusto No. 2 cigars, they have become my absolute favorite. Bold and complex. Excellent construction. Perfect burn. If they were cheaper, I'd be a Robusto No. 2 chain smoker...”
“The Robusto #2s are by far the best cigars I have EVER smoked. Bold and complex. Not for the faint of heart. Excellent construction. The draw has been perfect on each cigar in the two boxes I have smoked. The ash will typically reach about 3 inches before falling off. I recently had 4 inches of ash before it fell. The Robusto #2s are just awesome from first puff to the last half inch when I finally have to put it down.”
“Wow, these are impressive. If you like strong cigars these are the way to go. The potency is matched in flavor though and it is an enjoyable cigar to smoke from start to finish..just don't stand up too quickly afterwards!”
“If you haven't tried these cigars, then I don't know your motive in life. An absolute must have in any humidor.”
“I have tried 30 different brands in 3 different categories in the last 60 Days. This is the #1 full body cigar by FAR!!!”
“Ruination is the best cigar that I have fired up this year! Powerfully complex and rewarding, making it a must have!”
“Started off mellow, but quickly changed to a very bold and full bodied smoke. Not my favorite in the world, but those that like a kick in the mouth will enjoy this one. Complex. The flavor description on CI is fairly inline with my experience.”
“My palate is not as refined as many, as I do not always find the flavors that others speak of, and traditionally I categorize sticks as such: love, hate, smoke-able or never buy again. I tried one of these as an after dinner treat at a friends house post BBQ and w/ beer; and based off the reviews, it was highly disappointing and I placed it into the NBA category. Three weeks later and my humi running low, I grab another to join my am cup of Coffee.....Wow totally different flavor profile which is pairing quite nicely with my black cup of joe. These just pushed back up on the list.”
“WHAT A GREAT SMOKE. A GLASS OF JOHNNY BLUE AND AWAY YOU GO”
“OH WOW! Yup! That's what i said after the first hit up to the last. It's like the sour patch candy "first they're sour then they're sweet" experience. About first 3/4 to about half way is all the strong peppery flavors attacking your tongue and palate then it mellows to a rich flavorful smoke satisfying your taste buds. Will definitely order more of these Man O' War Ruination.”
“Not Overrated one bit! Belicoso is my favorite and is heaven in stick form! completely worth the money and will always have a spot in my humidor.”
“This is my favorite smoke, always potent always delivers! AAA+++”
“The Man o War Ruination in belicoso is a medium to full bodied cigar. Domimant flavors were of pepper, dark cocoa, espresso, and but. Draw was perfect with almost chimney like smoke output. Burn was even. Finish semi long with a coffee and nut flavor coating the pallette. Pepper was present throughout, so was the espresso, with subtle hints of cedar and dark plum. Complex and enjoyable cigar. I rate a 93”
“My 1st MOW is a Ruination Belicoso & all I can say is I wish I had not waited so long to try this one out. Superb construction, smooth, bold flavors & a full bodied experience I won't soon forget. Devilishly delicious, but not for the faint of heart. I will be trying the MOW Ruination 2nds on my next order since I have read so many glowing reports about them. If they measure up, their cost of three bones means I will be enjoying a world class full flavored smoke for less than half the cost of the 1sts.”
“Like some others, I too let this one lay in my humidor for months because of the descriptions of its strength. Not to worry. It is so smooth I can't stand it! Love the original MoW but this is both stronger and better. When I hit the lottery I'll give them away. May Joe feature them regularly until then. What a treat.”
“By far the best cigar I have smoked! You will not be disappointed”
“This is the kind of cigar I'm always looking for. Smoother then smooth. Full of flavor, but not over powering. I'm smoking my first one right now, and it is far more then I expected. Can't wait to order some, you should do the same. No disappointments here.....trust me.”
“My experience with AJ Fernandez cigars is extensive, yet I have only sampled the Man-O'-War offerings. Most of the vitolas I have tried by AJ have been outstanding, even a cut above their peers. Ruination is no different. A beefy Torpedo measuring 5.7" X 56 is the particular configuration on which I am currently reporting. Construction is solid, the feel quite heavy in the hand. I love the artwork & overall appearance of the band. Prelight aromas are cedar with spice. Burn is even, slow, with a firm ash that clings to the body of the cigar until removed. One large vein runs nearly the length of the stick, but is not a hindrance to the burn. 1" in the muted flavors begin to take off. The taste of white pepper, although subtle, is present. Notes of toast, earth & light cedar dominate throughout, making me consider this more medium bodied than the suggested full bodied profile. These tobaccos are strong, you can feel the power in your gut, but the level of complexity is less pronounced than in many competitive blends, such as Joya de Nicaragua's Atano or Camacho's Corojo. In other words, I am missing the obvious point of the blend. That is, that Ruination is somehow a step up in strength, over previous blends. I don't see it. That in itself, is not a bad thing. Ruination is pretty good overall. Perhaps more suited to accompany an adult beverage, than say, a four course meal, but interesting in its own right. To be completely honest, not one of my favorites from AJ, however, you may enjoy Ruination, particularly if you like full bodied blends without the sensory overload often associated with strength. As for me, I will stay with Core when I want a truly full bodied AJ Fernandez cigar & San Lotano Oval for a more medium bodied experience. Perhaps unfair to compare Ruination with two of the best blends available anywhere, but MOW put this one out there to compete with just such classic blends. 89/100”
“After ordering a 10 pack of Robusto #2s, a 6" X 60 Gordo Toro in reality, I have to upgrade my previous review of Ruination. Party because I hold the original blend in such high esteem & part due to the unique flavor profile of Ruination, I feel I didn't give the blend its due. halfway thru the 10 pack & I have fallen in love with Ruination. It really is a cut above most full bodied blends. Delivering scads of smoke, tons of flavor & a 2 hour burn time, the Ruination Robusto #2 appears to be the perfect vehicle for showing off all this blend has to offer. Just one more triumph, in a stable full of triumphant cigars, from whom I consider the foremost cigar producer in the world. 91/100”
“I had a Robusto #1 (which felt and looked like most toro's). The cigar felt leathery to the touch with a firm pack. The construction was excellent, which was clearly evident when I was smoking it. It corrected itself quickly when the burn got slightly off of level.... The cigar gave off voluminous amounts of smoke. The smoke itself had a chewy texture as well. The flavors were the same from light to finish. I tasted leather, nuts, and coffee. Great smoke, definitely will be looking at getting a box of these when my wineador has space.”
“Nice cigar with a good taste and even burn.”
“This is a strong cigar. Not for the newbie. It opened up very harsh and then toned down to a bit if mixed flavors with cocoa undertones. Was not impressed with the aftertaste. I got the big one as part of a sampler and it did not knock my socks off like The Punisher or 5 Vegas Cask Strength does. My suggestion is not to smoke these on an empty stomach. Also make sure you have time as this is a slow, even burning beauty that might take up to an hour. Very well constructed appealing to the eye. Smooth draw with a medium volume of smoke. Can't say I'd buy these outright but wouldn't shy away from a sampler containing it.”
“So after trying the basic Man O War...and smoking the crap out of them, I ordered up the Ruination. Yup, awesome, and now they are all gone.”
“My MOW Mega Sampler came in yesterday evening, and I just couldn't resist lighting up a Ruination. This cigar was fantastic! Beware, smoked on a full stomach and could still feel it down in my gut! Smooth, and undoubtedly full-bodied. Can't wait to have another after some humidor time.”
“My favorite smoke right now. I'm really becoming an A.J. Fernandez fan cause I haven't had any of his creations that I haven't thoroughly enjoyed yet! I got the War Horse box of ten and can't wait to try them! It's sleepy time for them right now...”
“The Ruination is a good cigar. It's medium bodied which I like, definitely not full bodied. It you want to try one of AJ's cigars that has even more flavor, try the CI Legend. You'll see what I mean when you compare the two. The Legend definitely overshadows the Ruination just on flavor alone.”
“I'll be honest, these tasty morsels have become my new favorite go to cigar. I started my Man of War obsession with their Dark Horse line which quickly took over my whole ideology on cigars and the latest is their superb line the Ruination. Don't be overwhelmed by their price; these babie are worth every penny. The draw is hearty & lingers on your pallet well after exhale. I get earthy gritty on the finish which is, while aggressive, not overpowering. I've paired these with several Scotches & Brandy's and have been in for a treat. I highly recommend giving these a try. Grab a box of 20 because 5 just won't survive long enough to reach your humi.”
“12/14/2014 I was just a couple of days away from placing my next order, knew exactly what I was going to get, when I received an e-mail from C.I. Weekly Special MOW Ruination 20 cigars, in the box, for only $79.99. Great deal, right? He_ _ yes! But that's not all. I also got a $25 dollar gift card with EACH BOX!! That works out to $2.75 per cigar for one of the best smokes on the planet, at any price. Are you bleeping kidding me??? I immediately threw away my old order and got a box of Belicosos and a box of Robusto #1. Only C.I. could come up with such an insane deal. Merry Christmas to me!! I was worried they would sell out before I got my order in but they were not. If I were filthy rich I would have snapped up every box available, but I'm not, so I'll just have to be happy for everybody else who got to share this wonderful special offer. MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL, especially the awesome folks at C.I. !!!”
“If you can afford 8 bucks a stick, you cannot beat this cigar. If you can't afford 8 bucks a stick don't try this one. It will make you spend money you don't have to get more. I get them in the Chunktastic II sampler. They are a bit more cost effective that way.”
“This is one of my favorite go to smokes. I was a little worried about buying a box of the War Horse shape. I've had some bad luck with perfectos, and in a large size (6.5 x 54). HAVE NO FEAR! This well built fabulous monster is fantastic. Very nice feel, look, burn and yes...flavor. This big boy even stayed cool all the way with a big bomb of an ash. Enjoy.”
“This is the epitome of a great cigar. A true classic; enough said.”
“Good smoke. Not as strong as advertised. Great flavor. Watch the video reviews first.”
“Ruination grows on you. When I 1st tried it, I picked on every little flaw, even daring to call it medium bodied! A year later & many more Man-O-War Ruination stogies have been smoked. My opinion has changed, as have my observations concerning this blend. I love it. It's as full bodied as almost anything available. Why would I ever doubt the blending genius, anyway? If AJ does it, smoke it & you will learn to love it. Store them away. Smoke them over a long period of time, while patiently investigating its particular characteristics. Only then, can one give proper consideration to its assets & put it into words. Ruination passes most tests with honors. Construction, check. Draw, check. Clouds of smoke peel forth filled with full bodied flavors of cinnamon, pepper & a myriad of spices. Black tobacco & citrus notes intermingle. A (5.5" X 54) #1 Gordo Robusto typically lasts 90 minutes. Eventful throughout, be prepared for a roller coaster ride of complexity & varying strength, from medium/full to near sensory overload & back. It tends to start with a bang, mellow slightly in the middle & finish with a big flurry. These typically are among the shortest butts in my ashtray. I guess I still prefer Man-O-War, but Ruination has gained my respect & a permanent spot in my humidor.”
“This is the best cigar I've ever had.”
“This cigar is da bomb! I highly recommend this to all. Try it, and thank me later.”
“Hereis what we have with a cigar that lives up to it's reputation. Strong right from the start and unless you've had a full meal, you might have some trouble at the end. A great smoke that settles in after awhile and gives forth unique flavors as it burns. Definately up there with "the bad boys"”
