“I was looking for a good quality small cigar for smoking on my work breaks. I've tried Henri Winterman's Cafe Creme, Davidoff cigarillos, and lots of others, but these Ascots (Macanudo Cafe) impressed me. Mild but flavorful, with quality construction (well rolled and no short fillers), they surprised me with a delightful aftertaste and a pleasant aroma which had me rolling the car windows UP to keep the smoke inside. Ordered a brick immediately!”
“Macanudo Cafe & Maduro - The only brand I usually buy!”
“You can't go wrong with this one (Macanudo). Consistently a good smoke everytime!”
“First off I am a mild Dominican cigar lover, I just do not care for the full flavor cigars, and have tried many. Just not my thing. Yes I am a Mac-aholic Take the Mac Cafe call it the Coors light of cigars but hey I like Coors light! The Mac Hyde Park is my #1 cigar and my baseline, the Constancy of that Mac flavor, the favor I fell in love with the first time I smoked one, is still the same, I must say however that I feel the draw seems to have tightened up over the years. Others along the same line... are the CI mac knockoffs, to me are close and a great deal. Cu*Avana great mellow cigar with a ever so slight lemony twist and great taste. The Maduro was a big surprise being just a mellow. Great draw and light Grey/white ash holds about 1.5 inches on the rubusto size. Cu*Avana is my Current #3 The La Aurora with its The dark Cameroon wrapper was another surprise to me; smooth down to the lip burning nub. And is currently my #2 has a great draw and almost white ash that holds on for days with no flaking. Yet every time I open the humidor I want to reach for a Macanudo...thats my story and I am sticking to it...muhahaha ”
“For the past year I've been smoking cigars like a fiend. Gurkha, Vegas 5, Cusano, Rocky Patel, Fonseca, and several other reputable brands have crossed my path. Last night I smoked my first Macanudo(Macanudo Cafe & Maduro). It was beautiful. It was a "Hyde Park" and it was the smoothest, tastiest, and most mild cigar I've ever had. Too bad I just ordered a box of CAO Black's that are already on their way, otherwise I'd be completing an order for a box right now. I'm sure it won't be too long until that happens regardless. Anyway, if you haven't yet smoked a Mac, do your senses a favor, no, an honor and get some Macanudo's.”
“Haven't had one of these in several years. In brief: well made, burns and draws very good, nice appearance, very very mild and way over priced.”
“I have smoked a number of Macanudo Cafe Hyde Parks over the last year and have always loved them. Yeah, they are on the mild side of things but sometimes that is what I want. The other day I fired up a maduro for the fist time. It was pretty much the same to start, with just a little added flavor from the wrapper. But the last 2 1/2" are where this cigar got me. It became so buttery smooth I was in heaven. After each puff, I would sit there and marvel at the nub, inhale, and my mouth felt as cool as it does when I chew mint gum. There was no mint flavor but the sensation was amazing!”
“I purchased a 5 pack of the Baron de Rothschilds a little while back and i was very impressed with these cigars. They tasted and smelled so great! I only wish i could afford to smoke these on a regular basis. I can fully understand why CI is the #1 Cigar retailer. The customer service and sales are number 1 in my opinion.”
“Junior got me a box of the Hyde Park for Christmas. I just pulled the filet mignon off the grill and I'm on my fourth cigar; I can't stop smoking these! I hadn't smoked anything by Macanudo in quite a while. I'd forgotten how great these cigars tasted. Well balanced and consistent all the way through. These go very well with a nice, ice-cold lager or your favorite single malt. Enjoy!!!!!”
“What can I say about Mac's that haven't been said before? Probably nothing new, except this is the one cigar that I hate running out of! CI's prices on Macanudo's beat everywhere else I've looked, and when my humidor starts running low, I start to panic! I prefer the Hyde Park, as it's a nice combination of length and fullness in my hand, but occasionally wll opt for a Duke of Devon if I don't have quite the time to enjoy a thicker cigar. Mild but a very enjoyable flavor. If you haven't tried Macanudo's yet, you shouldn't be smoking cigars! A true staple!”
“I just can't wait for my Hyde Park to be delivered. Right now I'm enjoying Vegas Miami torpedo but my mind are on Macanudo. Every piece on that cigar are perfect. Perfect draw taste an burn. I can't explain avery detail that's just to many words. That's a must buy cigar. Don't miss out what's good for you. Cheap cigars aren't always the best buy spend more and receive the best. CI you have the best price an website.”
“I bought 10 the Hampton Court Maduro tubos via the 'Make Me An Offer' section and must say that they are a great cigar. I like the size and the flavor is very smooth without the 'power' that you get from alot of other maduros. I"m not saying that I don't enjoy those too but sometimes it's nice to just smoke a nice smooth cigar. I will be buying more of these and trying other Macs.”
“The Macanudo Café is a “give-and-take” cigar. It starts with a tinge of spice, but soon mellows into a smooth coffee and milk taste. It features a rather rigid construction, but keeps its composition well, all the way to the nub. The burn can be uneven, but the ash hold is superb. The draw is a bit tight at first, but soon loosens into a nice, mellow smoke. ”
“I had a cafe hyde park last night. Not really a fan. I tend to prefer maduros with stronger flavors (chocolate, coffee), but thought maybe this would surprise me; it didnt. Great aroma, bad flavor. Also, about an inch in, I couldnt keep it lit, though I dont know if it was because of a poorly rolled cigar or that I wasnt drawing on it frequently enough since I wasnt enjoying it...”
“OK, I don't appear to go with the flow when it comes to this Macanudo Hyde Park, since I thought is smoked like a pine cone. The outter leaf came off half way down, and the flavor of the smoke was bitter to say the least. My first reaction was to put it out, then toss it in the trash. However, I kept smoking the cigar just to see if it would get better toward the middle. Sorry, based upon the one that I smoked it would cause me to give up cigars all together. Maybe I was one of the few that got a bad one, but I'm not willing to purchase another one to find out.”
“The first time I smoked this cigar, it had been received in a sampler pack. That one was bitter, and left me with a bad taste (no pun intended) in my mouth with this cigar. However, after reading so many good reviews, I ordered a 10 pack of 7.5 X 49 that are fantastic. Because I have found a difference in many other cigars that come in samplers, and not a brand order only. I'm starting to wonder about the cigars used in samplers. Being a person who makes several orders per month a great deal of the times. I honestly believe that I've made enough purchases that would allow me to see the difference. If you have only tried this cigar in a sampler, and you didn't care for it. You should at least purchase a 5 pack of the Macanudo Cafe. It is very smooth, with no loss in flavor.”
“These never did anything for me and I have to agree with the "pine cone" sentiment. The tins will work in a pinch or as an after dinner smoke if you're out somewhere but that's about it. That's just me but to each their own, and if you enjoy these then more power to you.”
“Hands down, the best tasting cigar I have ever smoked.”
“Loved the Hyde Park for a Mild Cigar. Overpriced but a fantastic mild smoke.”
“This is my first Hyde Park, I got a five pack in the blue chip sampler that I bought for the other cigars(Cohiba Red Dot, Ave Maria, and the Gurkha Centurian). This cigar is made well, though has a soft spot. And it does burn very evenly. But, where's the complexity? Just because it is mild doesn't mean it shouldn't have depth. I can see how this cigar has a place in the world, it just doesn't have a place in my humidor any more.”
“So I had one of these in a sampler pack a while back, its been sitting in my humi for three months since then. I knew from the wrapper it was going to be a mild experience, but I wasn't expecting it to be so bland. I took a couple of first puffs and was met with real bitterness, and almost no flavor, but I decided to charge through it and see if it was holding back. To my disbelief I suddenly was met with toasty almond flavors met by tobacco and a beautiful smoke, the ash kept well at around a third of the way through and I could see myself smoking this more. However I was met with disappointment after the halfway mark, those subtle almond flavors gone, its was heavy tobacco and really hot at this point, but worse off that bitterness came back. It might have just been that batch like other CI members have had issues with, but I'm sure if you want something mild, this is a good cigar, but that experience and disappointment will keep me from buying a box.”
“Got a Hyde Park as part of a sampler and let it rest for about 2 weeks. It smoked very well with an even consistent burn and the ash hung on well. Excellent construction. Took me a little less than 45 minutes to get through it and I enjoyed it up until the end. Flavor was mild but pleasant. No complaints except that it was the only one in the sampler.”
“This is my "Go To" cigar and I don't know what happened about a year ago to them but right around the time the ascot brick (100) went from a cedar box to a tin display . I started getting a lot of stems in the base of the cigar that were 1"-2" long and they aren't rolled consistently with some of them being extremely tight at the base or end and loose at the other end. I have been noticing holes in them also. I am not going to stop buying them - just disappointed that the sluggish economy made a extremely good cigar to sub par (especially since they went up in price)”
