Don't bite
These were packed a bit loose and a couple had partial wrapper peels that needed lucks to stay down, but overall, a good smoke. Nice flavor and the looseness didn't affect the burn much. If you're a biter like I am, these won't stand up to your chompers. Otherwise, I would recommend these.

So Mild As To Be Tasteless
Like smoking air. I can see how this would be good for an absolute tobacco novice.

Not what I expected from a Macanudo. The taste was good but I had to constantly relight them, they seemed to be packed to loosly. Also had trouble with the wrapper coming loose after snipping the end.

Macanudo Cafe & Maduro Ascots
What can you say they are great small cigars, great to enjoy with a drink or two or just relax at the end of the day. You can depend on the quality of any Macanudo and freshness from CI.

Double perfectos, very good
Well made, I like the smaller size, about a 35 min smoke. Macs are very mellow and easy to smoke.

Harsh and tough draw.
Really disappointed in this macanudo; draw was very hard and the smoke was harsh. Will not buy these again.

Customer Testimonials
I've been smoking Mac's for years. A few friends go for other brands, but a good Macanudo Diplomat Maduro is always a good smoke!
Got the Ascot tin after seeing it in a local smoke shop. Not disappointed at all. Nice, even burn, mild smoke, easy, consistent draw. I'll be buying more of these in the future!
These cigars are really good in terms of flavor. A nice smooth and rich taste all the way through. One of them was damaged though; it had a crack in the middle. But other then that, I will gladly buy these again.
Great everyday smoke.
As an occasional cigar smoker, I like em mild and easy. I got the Hyde Parks as part of a Gentleman's duece sampler and these babies run the risk of changing occasional to frequent. For a robusto, they burn for a good long time and everything about them has been flawless. Macanudos will not give you a complex ever-changing parade of morphing flavors. They WILL give you a delicious smooth even predictable mellow long lasting hour of bliss. If you are new to cigars or just want to try a high quality mellow smoke, you can't go wrong with a Macanudo.
I bought a tin of these in a cigar shop @ $27 plus tax. A much better price here.
One of my favorite cigars out there. Never lets you down.
I've been smoking cigars regularly for about 20 years now, and about a year or two into smoking cigars I tried Macanudo along with several other top bands, and always loved them and then I got a bad box and lost my taste for them. A few years ago I started smoking Macanudo Cafe in a robusto size, this last order I got a box of 30 Court Tubos and it's a damn fine little quickie cigar, well 20/30 minutes and it has every bit as much flavor as a full size Macanudo does, it just doesn't take as long to smoke one. Here's the funny thing, you can buy the box of 30 with or without the tubes but the box with the tubes cost less then the box without them? That's kind of backwards, I love the tubes because they protect the cigars better and then each cigar inside the tube is wrapped with a thin sheet of cedar, which I use to light the cigars and at least to me the cedar wrapped Tubos have a better flavor then the non-cedar wrapped courts does, I know cedar helps with the aging and flavor but with these it makes a big difference. A long time ago I learned that cigars should be lit with wooden matches or thin strips of cedar when we lived in Florida and would go to the little mom and pop cigar factories. You can definitely taste the difference between lighting with a butane lighter compared to a wooden match, and there's also a noticeable difference between a wooden match and a strip of cedar, seems to give it a little sweeter taste off the light where with a match it takes a few minutes for the taste to develop. So all in all if your a Macanudo fan these are great little cigars, in protective tubes with sheets of cedar to light the cigar too, can't beat that deal with a stick especially since the tubed and cedar wrapped cigars are a few bucks less then the non tubed non cedar wrapped court cigars. These will become a regular stock in my humidors and love smoking one with my morning coffee with a little cream and sugar. Billy C
I'm still fairly new to cigars and trying to stick with milder ones for now. I just smoked my first Macanudo Hampton Court and would say that while it was a pleasant smoke, if anything, it was too mild. There was a little trouble keeping it burning evenly and while the draw was fine, I felt like I had to chug away at it a to get a decent amount of smoke. Maybe worth a revisit down the road, but for now I think I can rule out picking up another one of these. I am a fan of dark, heavy beers and detest the likes of Coors, so maybe my cigar taste is heading in the same direction?
I absolutely love these cigars! The Hampton Court Churchill size is perfect for a more mild palate but still delivers that classic taste we all love. If you are new to the wonderful world of cigars I would definitely recommend Macanudo.
A rich, robust, and hearty cigar. Mild yet it holds good flavor and really smooth.
Great cigars!
These are great little smokes. Perfect for the ride home from work, or sitting on the deck with a cup of coffee. Great flavor! There are some minor wrapper issues on a few of them. After snipping, they may start unraveling on you.
MACANUDO" a wwoowww factor from the aroma to the taste is beautiful it burn perfect and to finish it a nice drink just too relax.. Definitely on my top 5..
While I love the 5.5X49 size, & will continue to buy them. The same can't be said about the smaller 7X34 tubo. Tight draw, burns the back of your throat, very bitter, & only produced small amounts of smoke. Among the worse cigars I've ever tried. Maybe I just got some bad ones since I have much respect for the Macanudo name.
Thouroughly enjoyed these. nice mild smoke, smooth retro-hale. Will be buying more.
Good construction, easy to keep lit. Tasted horrid though.
Macanudo Maduro: Easy to light. Excellent construction, draw and burn for mainstream sizes. Avoid the Diplomat size as it's shape consistently promotes a below average performance and degraded flavor profile for this brand. Mild to medium strength and medium flavor. Above average smoke output with medium mouth feel. Mild and smooth flavors of chocolate, caramel and nuts remain throughout the cigar. Short finish after each draw. Not complex but enough flavors to keep your interest.
Delicious. Smooth and creamy. Tastiest cigar I ever smoked. Worth every penny.
The Hyde Park Cafe & Maduro (5.5x49) continue to be one of my all time favorites over the years. Love the Maduros especially because they are consistently good construction, draw & burn with a smooth, rich & silky flavor. The Cafe I have always enjoyed except the last box was NOT good in flavor. I have no clue why that was but CI accepted my returns. :-). All good except I have not ordered any Cafe in fear of getting some of the returns back. But these are great & CI has great prices and customer service. A+ rating for sure!
I am usually not a fan of smaller cigars/cigarillos but I must say, these little beauties had a delicious taste and an ample plume of smoke. I drive about 30 to 40 minutes to work each day and these are the perfect commute smoke. I am curious to try some of the larger sizes to see how they compare, if so I may have found a new every day smoke.
Got a hyde park robusto in a sampler, and I have to say I'm not a fan. The cigar looks great but it lacks any flavor and then just more nothing at the midway point, you know right when it's supposed to get good. Smoked it until a little past half and tossed it..
A good smoke. Fuller than the usual Macanudo offerings. Nice aroma and flavors.
I know that we love our big gauge Mac's! But I must say, in my latest shipment I not only grabbed a big sampler, but as I walk my dogs every night at about 1:00am I found myself in need of a quicker indulgence....Enter the Macanudo Ascot. I know they are small, but that does nothing to reduce that ample Mac flavor and smooth character! I can smoke one down in 15 minutes or so and am utterly sated for the evening. A great little stick for that last little chore of the day; and what a price!! Grab a tin, you won't regret it.
This is my "Go To" cigar and I don't know what happened about a year ago to them but right around the time the ascot brick (100) went from a cedar box to a tin display . I started getting a lot of stems in the base of the cigar that were 1"-2" long and they aren't rolled consistently with some of them being extremely tight at the base or end and loose at the other end. I have been noticing holes in them also. I am not going to stop buying them - just disappointed that the sluggish economy made a extremely good cigar to sub par (especially since they went up in price)
So I had one of these in a sampler pack a while back, its been sitting in my humi for three months since then. I knew from the wrapper it was going to be a mild experience, but I wasn't expecting it to be so bland. I took a couple of first puffs and was met with real bitterness, and almost no flavor, but I decided to charge through it and see if it was holding back. To my disbelief I suddenly was met with toasty almond flavors met by tobacco and a beautiful smoke, the ash kept well at around a third of the way through and I could see myself smoking this more. However I was met with disappointment after the halfway mark, those subtle almond flavors gone, its was heavy tobacco and really hot at this point, but worse off that bitterness came back. It might have just been that batch like other CI members have had issues with, but I'm sure if you want something mild, this is a good cigar, but that experience and disappointment will keep me from buying a box.
The first time I smoked this cigar, it had been received in a sampler pack. That one was bitter, and left me with a bad taste (no pun intended) in my mouth with this cigar. However, after reading so many good reviews, I ordered a 10 pack of 7.5 X 49 that are fantastic. Because I have found a difference in many other cigars that come in samplers, and not a brand order only. I'm starting to wonder about the cigars used in samplers. Being a person who makes several orders per month a great deal of the times. I honestly believe that I've made enough purchases that would allow me to see the difference. If you have only tried this cigar in a sampler, and you didn't care for it. You should at least purchase a 5 pack of the Macanudo Cafe. It is very smooth, with no loss in flavor.
Got a Hyde Park as part of a sampler and let it rest for about 2 weeks. It smoked very well with an even consistent burn and the ash hung on well. Excellent construction. Took me a little less than 45 minutes to get through it and I enjoyed it up until the end. Flavor was mild but pleasant. No complaints except that it was the only one in the sampler.
Loved the Hyde Park for a Mild Cigar. Overpriced but a fantastic mild smoke.
This is my first Hyde Park, I got a five pack in the blue chip sampler that I bought for the other cigars(Cohiba Red Dot, Ave Maria, and the Gurkha Centurian). This cigar is made well, though has a soft spot. And it does burn very evenly. But, where's the complexity? Just because it is mild doesn't mean it shouldn't have depth. I can see how this cigar has a place in the world, it just doesn't have a place in my humidor any more.
Haven't had one of these in several years. In brief: well made, burns and draws very good, nice appearance, very very mild and way over priced.
Junior got me a box of the Hyde Park for Christmas. I just pulled the filet mignon off the grill and I'm on my fourth cigar; I can't stop smoking these! I hadn't smoked anything by Macanudo in quite a while. I'd forgotten how great these cigars tasted. Well balanced and consistent all the way through. These go very well with a nice, ice-cold lager or your favorite single malt. Enjoy!!!!!
I purchased a 5 pack of the Baron de Rothschilds a little while back and i was very impressed with these cigars. They tasted and smelled so great! I only wish i could afford to smoke these on a regular basis. I can fully understand why CI is the #1 Cigar retailer. The customer service and sales are number 1 in my opinion.
Hands down, the best tasting cigar I have ever smoked.
These never did anything for me and I have to agree with the "pine cone" sentiment. The tins will work in a pinch or as an after dinner smoke if you're out somewhere but that's about it. That's just me but to each their own, and if you enjoy these then more power to you.
OK, I don't appear to go with the flow when it comes to this Macanudo Hyde Park, since I thought is smoked like a pine cone. The outter leaf came off half way down, and the flavor of the smoke was bitter to say the least. My first reaction was to put it out, then toss it in the trash. However, I kept smoking the cigar just to see if it would get better toward the middle. Sorry, based upon the one that I smoked it would cause me to give up cigars all together. Maybe I was one of the few that got a bad one, but I'm not willing to purchase another one to find out.
The Macanudo Café is a “give-and-take” cigar. It starts with a tinge of spice, but soon mellows into a smooth coffee and milk taste. It features a rather rigid construction, but keeps its composition well, all the way to the nub. The burn can be uneven, but the ash hold is superb. The draw is a bit tight at first, but soon loosens into a nice, mellow smoke.
I had a cafe hyde park last night. Not really a fan. I tend to prefer maduros with stronger flavors (chocolate, coffee), but thought maybe this would surprise me; it didnt. Great aroma, bad flavor. Also, about an inch in, I couldnt keep it lit, though I dont know if it was because of a poorly rolled cigar or that I wasnt drawing on it frequently enough since I wasnt enjoying it...
I just can't wait for my Hyde Park to be delivered. Right now I'm enjoying Vegas Miami torpedo but my mind are on Macanudo. Every piece on that cigar are perfect. Perfect draw taste an burn. I can't explain avery detail that's just to many words. That's a must buy cigar. Don't miss out what's good for you. Cheap cigars aren't always the best buy spend more and receive the best. CI you have the best price an website.
What can I say about Mac's that haven't been said before? Probably nothing new, except this is the one cigar that I hate running out of! CI's prices on Macanudo's beat everywhere else I've looked, and when my humidor starts running low, I start to panic! I prefer the Hyde Park, as it's a nice combination of length and fullness in my hand, but occasionally wll opt for a Duke of Devon if I don't have quite the time to enjoy a thicker cigar. Mild but a very enjoyable flavor. If you haven't tried Macanudo's yet, you shouldn't be smoking cigars! A true staple!
I bought 10 the Hampton Court Maduro tubos via the 'Make Me An Offer' section and must say that they are a great cigar. I like the size and the flavor is very smooth without the 'power' that you get from alot of other maduros. I"m not saying that I don't enjoy those too but sometimes it's nice to just smoke a nice smooth cigar. I will be buying more of these and trying other Macs.
I have smoked a number of Macanudo Cafe Hyde Parks over the last year and have always loved them. Yeah, they are on the mild side of things but sometimes that is what I want. The other day I fired up a maduro for the fist time. It was pretty much the same to start, with just a little added flavor from the wrapper. But the last 2 1/2" are where this cigar got me. It became so buttery smooth I was in heaven. After each puff, I would sit there and marvel at the nub, inhale, and my mouth felt as cool as it does when I chew mint gum. There was no mint flavor but the sensation was amazing!
For the past year I've been smoking cigars like a fiend. Gurkha, Vegas 5, Cusano, Rocky Patel, Fonseca, and several other reputable brands have crossed my path. Last night I smoked my first Macanudo(Macanudo Cafe & Maduro). It was beautiful. It was a "Hyde Park" and it was the smoothest, tastiest, and most mild cigar I've ever had. Too bad I just ordered a box of CAO Black's that are already on their way, otherwise I'd be completing an order for a box right now. I'm sure it won't be too long until that happens regardless. Anyway, if you haven't yet smoked a Mac, do your senses a favor, no, an honor and get some Macanudo's.
I have smoked a wide variety of cigars over the years, but I was never an enthusiast or regular cigar smoker. That is, until I tried my first Macanudo. Several weeks ago I tried my first mac, and now I am dying to smoke some more. I have a full humidor of cigars, but they are all crap compared to the mac I smoked, and now I can't even bring myself to smoke them. The mac I got was 5.75 per cigar at the local shop, and I was used to paying that much for a pack of 5 or 6 cigars. So the price is scary for me being on a limited income. It doesn't matter though, anytime I can spare a little money I am buying a mac or two. I have a running gift request for any holidays with everyone I know for a BOX of mac roths!! I highly recommend mac's to ANYONE who enjoys cigars, but gets turned off by the big heaters that are just too much beyond the halfway point. Mac's are consistent and mild and I can smoke them down to a nub no problem. I will have to try one of those knock offs mentioned above to see if I can save some money, but I doubt they will be close enough for me as I am picky.
You can't go wrong with this one (Macanudo). Consistently a good smoke everytime!
First off I am a mild Dominican cigar lover, I just do not care for the full flavor cigars, and have tried many. Just not my thing. Yes I am a Mac-aholic Take the Mac Cafe call it the Coors light of cigars but hey I like Coors light! The Mac Hyde Park is my #1 cigar and my baseline, the Constancy of that Mac flavor, the favor I fell in love with the first time I smoked one, is still the same, I must say however that I feel the draw seems to have tightened up over the years. Others along the same line... are the CI mac knockoffs, to me are close and a great deal. Cu*Avana great mellow cigar with a ever so slight lemony twist and great taste. The Maduro was a big surprise being just a mellow. Great draw and light Grey/white ash holds about 1.5 inches on the rubusto size. Cu*Avana is my Current #3 The La Aurora with its The dark Cameroon wrapper was another surprise to me; smooth down to the lip burning nub. And is currently my #2 has a great draw and almost white ash that holds on for days with no flaking. Yet every time I open the humidor I want to reach for a Macanudo...thats my story and I am sticking to it...muhahaha
I was looking for a good quality small cigar for smoking on my work breaks. I've tried Henri Winterman's Cafe Creme, Davidoff cigarillos, and lots of others, but these Ascots (Macanudo Cafe) impressed me. Mild but flavorful, with quality construction (well rolled and no short fillers), they surprised me with a delightful aftertaste and a pleasant aroma which had me rolling the car windows UP to keep the smoke inside. Ordered a brick immediately!
Macanudo Cafe & Maduro - The only brand I usually buy!
