Smooth taste
I have always favored Gurkha, but after trying the shaggy I discovered a great new experience from lighting the shaggy foot to the smoothcreamy vanilla finish. I enjoyed this stick. It will truly become a regular addition to my humidor. Great smoke for a relaxing evening.

Nice smoke, kinda big
I ordered the "Gran Rothschild" which seems to have been renamed to Toro (?). The GR designation appears to be available if you search for it specifically and it is discounted (being discontinued?). Whatever, this is a fine smoke. Even flavor down to the nub, lots of nice smoke, excellent construction and burn. The only drawback for me is the large size. I would definitely buy these again in a smaller size.

This is the best,by far mild-medium smoke that I have had in a long time! I was thoroughly surprised because of the price! Excellent smoke at an unheard of price. Even burn, nice gray ash, great palate pleasing taste. Thank CI. I have my order in for more as we speak. Well pleased

Sloppy construction... bad burn
Hard to pay attention to the flavor profile at all, because the burn is so atrocious. The foot spreads out when lit, the burn line just won't even up, and the whole things begins to canoe and get hot in the last 3". The wrapper tends to unroll, package is soggy by the end. Terrible construction. I've have these about 10 times in samplers, and they've all been pretty much the same. I don't know much else about Gurkhas... maybe I started with the wrong one? Just a hard cigar for me to smoke with much enjoyment.

Fantastic Smoke
Love these Maduro Shaggys. I want to give them some time in the humidor, but may not be able to keep my hands off them!

poor quality
Average taste. The cigar would not stay lit I had to relight several times and the burn was very uneven. The draw was to fast and I got very little smoke from all that effort, not worth the price at all.

Shaggy time!
A very beautiful presentation with great flavor. Aroma is good. Nice thick ash and even burn. I enjoyed it.

Awesome smoke!
I got one of these in my CI Brown Bag sampler I received in Oct 2015. I LOVED smoking this one. It was a smoke bomb! There was sooo much tasty smoke that I was wondering if the neighbors would call the fire dept. :-) It lasted me an hour and 20 minutes and was very smooth. Well constructed. nice ash. very easy draw. I will get more for sure!... (Wish there was one more in the sampler)

Not great
I'm a longtime Gurkha fan and was very disappointed in the quality of this cigar. The flavor was just OK but most irritating was that they wouldn't stay lit, and when they were, they'd get runners and burn very unevenly. It was that way with each of them that I smoked (ordered 5-6 if memory serves). I was pretty bummed. Still Have a few left. Not sure what I'll do with them.

A top cigar of my collection. Not sure if my senses are different than everyone else's or if my humidor adds a floral touch to my cigars but my experience, though great like the other reviewers, is different. I have the Shaggys in the lancero style and to me it's almost pure potpourri. Elegant and beautiful. I love these cigars. Mine have been resting for about a year. I highly recommend getting at least a few at a time so you have at least one to age.
I opened a 25 year old cognac to enjoy with a Vintage Shaggy and man was I in for a disappointing ride! Got these on special pricing and I have to admit they don't live up to the other Gurkhas I've smoked. The one I'm smoking now is spongy and the wrapper split almost immediately. The burn is inconsistent and has required repeated relighting. At least the cognac was great!!!
I got some of these Shaggys in a sampler and I am impressed. I am smoking the Maduro Gordo 6 X 60 as I type. It has a almost perfect draw, even, clean no bite. So far the ash has not been good but I kind of expected that. The look is a dull sheen witch I like and the taste is a leathery sweetness That I haven't tasted before. It might be the Bacardi & Coke I'm sippen too. There is a lot of good smoke with this stick. The ash is a little flaky now but don't let that bother you this is a great medium smoke. The burn is still even so if I were you I'd get some of these now! you will enjoy this cigar.
WOW, WOW, WOW! I smoked this puppy down to a small smidgen of a nub with no hint of bite or heat. The flavor changes over the length from a creamy nutty smoke to a smooth earthy leather flavor all the while offering a complex palate of hidden flavors. Wish I had the $$ to buy these more often rather than the super rare treat.
Funny looking cigar, but what a surprise. Smooth...great flavor...great burn. LOVE IT!
A wonderful cigar with typical Gurhka consistency. This cigar was beautiful and I was just staring at it before and after I lit it. Dark chocolate brown maduro was smooth and looked almost velvety. The shaggy foot really does give a distinct flavor for the first 1/4 inch of the smoke. Once you hit the wrapper the flavor really does explode, cedar and vanilla tones in the description are spot on. At the midway point this cigar develops an even richer flavor. The Gurkha Shaggy has to be my new favorite of the Gurkha line.
Outstanding cigar! I'm a big Gurkha fan and this does not disappoint. Cedar with vanilla with each draw. Even burn and great taste. If you like a mild cigar and an easy smoke then this one is for you. Must try!
