Gispert proves that an expensive-tasting cigar doesn't always have to own an expensive price. I have tried just about every ring size and I simply love 'em all! It is a very cool, mild smoke filled with Cuban seed (with a hint of cedar blended with South Sea spice) wrapped around a Connecticut shade leaf. No wonder it made "Cigar Aficianado" Magazine's Top 20 cigars for 2006!
I like to smoke this Cigar (Gispert) when I take a long road trip. The Churchill can last me 150 miles. The flavor of this mild-bodied cigar is excellent without being overpowering.
A beautifully made cigar (Gispert) with a pleasant taste. Good for morning/daytime smoke. Plenty of character . . . smooth and mild with a hint of sweetness. I now keep a box of Lonsdales around for morning coffee or afternoon strolls. The quality you are getting for the money is really remarkable! A solid 90+ of a smoke!
I generally smoke fuller bodied cigars as in Punch, St. Luis Rey, Indian Tobac Classic. Yet at the same time there are times I enjoy a lighter bodied cigar, particularly late at night when I am tired and a milder cigar is more enjoyable and not as burdensome as a more robust smoke. Gispert fits the bill perfectly for me. I enjoy the 5x54 very much. It has a bit of sweetness and peppery flavor to it, and enough flavor to keep it interesting for just about any cigar smoker. I would classify it as mild-medium with a definate leaning toward medium.
If you like a milder cigar, yet want lots of flavor, I think Gispert fits the bill wonderfully. I continue to keep these next to my Punch Maduros in my humidor. Also it is a fine, yet affordable cigar to offer to friends that prefer a milder cigar. I like Gispert very much.
I've been smoking the Gispert Toro for some time now and I believe it is one of the best values in cigars out there today. If you're looking for a medium smoke with good taste and burn, here it is for just over $2 a cigar!
Just finished a tasty Gispert. Tons of smoke, nice even burn and the construction overall was great. It started slightly sweet, and had what I can only describe as a lemon aftertaste, that I found delightful. There was just the faintest hint of cedar about 1/3 in that continued throughout, and both tastes seemed to marry well. Gispert will certainly find a home in my humidor. As always, CI, thanks for the great products, prices, and service.
Looks good, burns good, but the taste was less than thrilling (Gispert). It started out with an ash like taste, but it did turn into a nutty somewhat respectable taste half way through. Despite the reasonable price I'd much rather smoke a Perdomo 2 'Mistake' for the same price. Keep pumping out the great prices CI
One of the top five pre-Castro Cuban cigars (Gispert). This very nice reincarnation is a pleasant mild, slightly sweet cigar in a Connecticut wrapper. And the box is a nice recreation of those that were exported from Cuba in the old days. Yes, I'm old enough to remember.
Myself..I'm still a newbie in the cigar world..But, funny name or not this (Gispert) is a nice cigar...I said nice..Not a $6-$7-$8 cigar, but, a beefy, chewy, 7.0 X 54,
chunk of a mild and tasty cigar..Damn good price point, too. Thanks to CI for another jewel that I've found for about $3 a stick...BTW I made a putt or two down the stretch this aft with this little beauty clenched between my teeth..What more could a fella ask for...Thanks..Tommy
Taste is good. Construction is good. Burn was off though. Uneven and over heated at times. 2nd stick was OK but still a bit to tight wound. Worth the cost of a sample pack.
While I tend to smoke a heavier bodied cigar, I like the Gispert very much. As it is mild to medium bodied with a leaning toward medium, this stick has a nutty, slightly sweet, slightly spicy taste. It is extremely well made, burns evenly and has an appealing Ecuador-Conecticut wrapper. This is a cigar that anyone can enjoy, from the experienced smoker to the beginer. A nice, smooth and flavorful smoke. I find it goes well with a lighter Bourbon like the Four Roses yellow label.
With the rave reviews on this Gispert with the Connecticut-seed leaf grown in Ecuador--I can only say for a real full-taste, the Maduro wrapper is the way to go. So...where do I stand in line for its arrival?! Patiently waiting..., K.O.
This cigar (Gispert) was a pleasant surprise especially for the price. I found the cigar similar to a Don Diego. It was definitely a mild smoke. It had some woody and creamy tastes through out the smoke. I found the end to be good and the draw was very easy. Also, the burn was even throughout the entire cigar. I am hooked and continue to purchase the cigar on a regular basis.
The robusto is the ideal cigar, almost perfect in every aspect and is fairly priced, especially for the retired person.
You do not have much good to say about this brand(Gispert) but as far as I am concerned their 5X54 is one of the best cigars on the market, especially for the price but none the less for its' quality. It is a beautiful smoke.
This is a sleeper if you like mild creamy but flavorful cigars. The price has always been a contributing factor for me buying this cigar (7.00" X 54 Churchill is my favorite). I have never pulled a "hard draw" cigar out of the box and I have smoked a train car load of these,... a favorite for years. Rates right up there with Hoyo Excalibur in my book
I found this cigar a few years ago and it has been a favorite since. Solid construction, nice draw, even burn and consistent flavor. If you want a great value in a medium-mild cigar I would highly recommend Gispert.
If you like a mild handmade Gispert may be for you.Gispert It will give the other high priced 'milds' a run for their money. Burns even and slow and holds a proper ash. No veins or other faults in the box. Put a few in the humi for a mild refreshing change of pace. CI is the only 'gar' shop for me.
Definitely for when you're in the mood for a mild-medium smoke, but you can't deny the quality and refinement of the cigar. I agree with the chap who tauts the maduro; it has a little more zip and the square pressed construction is cool too. Love to be able to snag these on a CI special sometime.
I recently received a box of Churchill's and this is a very tasty cigar. You can taste a hint of cocoa. Burns very well and even. Great aroma. I'll definitely be buying more.
I usually like mild cigars, but the Gispert wasn't for me.
Pluses: Very smooth draw, nice smoke, and mild flavor without any harshness.
Misses: Flavor of the stick is bland.
I liked everything about this cigar except the flavor.
I've fallen in love with the Gispert brand this summer. Well made, easy draw, mild & flavorful from start to finish, what's not to love. It's priced well below other premiums so you can smoke it daily. If you like a mild cigar you can not go wrong with Gispert.
Simply a great cigar at a low CI price tag. Being a lover of Churchills I received a 5 pack of the 7 X 54, which is a larger ring size than I like. My reason for this, Churchills seem to burn better at a 47 to 50 ring size that the larger bans. Not the case with this large candy bar of a cigar, it burned slow, cool, and even all the way down. The flavor is ever evolving, but never dull in the least bit. This is a cigar that I emplore you to try, then you can judge for yourself on the accuracy of my review. Oh yes. Out of the 5 purchased I only have one left, my next order will be for a box of these. It should be noted that the four I have smoked so far, all have stayed even and consistent all the way down.
This is a good cigar, with a fruit like sweetness on the finish. The 7 X 54 will stay even all the way down, and take well over an hour of your time. In addition, the cost is not all that bad, and this cigar has great construction with huge clouds of smoke.
I have been smoking my order of robustos for about a week now. They are an excellent smoke. A very smooth mellow smoke with a hint of sweetness. An even burn - cool burn right to the end!!!!
This was a pleasant smoke. I lit one up right from the box. like regular, it was fresh, damage free, and on time. They got even better as they sat in the humidor! Great price for a great cigar.
Gispert is wonderful cigar at a great CI price! It is mild, yet flavorful and has hints of cedar and sweetness. Construction is flawless, and every one I've smoked has had an even burn and an effortless draw. The Churchill will last well over an hour, while the robusto affords a shorter yet pleasant smoke. These cigars can be enjoyed any time of the day or night, and will provide you with a delightful smoking experience! Enjoy!
These are full bodied, soft, not too densely packed, and possibly the most delicious cigar I have ever smoked outside of a Cuban Montecristo. A little better, denser construction, and this cigar would be one of the best in the world. Due to the full bodied nature, I'd suggest a steak and potato dinner before lighting one up. Should go well with a heavy bodied wine, straight single malt Scotch (not on ice or watered down), or a black coffee. I'd suggest they make a high line version with better, denser, construction and put them in a nice 40 count cedar chest packed out of cellophane to age well.
Really impressed with this bad boy. Mild to medium with dead nuts char line and easy draw. Construction is very solid and flavors are redolent with hints of spice and cedar. I resonate with the robusto and am anxious to try the other sizes as well. My go to, everyday stick. Enjoy!
Great cigar. Better than a Cuban.
This cigar keeps a low profile but this cigar is my favorite. Very consistent in taste and great price. You know what your getting when you buy a Gispert.
I usually prefer a medium-full cigar, but I always keep a place reserved in my humidor for this change of pace smoke. A smooth creamy smoke that will last a
good hour. Paired with my morning coffee, it's a great way to start the day.
I agree with CI staff review that this brand is under-the-radar, but it sure isn't in my humidor. I've smoked the highly-rated robusto (5x54) and it's mucho delicioso!
But my favorite size is the corona and CI doesn't carry it. Gispert is a straight forward Honduran puro that belongs in every smoker's rotation. Trust me.
I'm glad I bought a five pack of these out of curiosity. This is a great tasting cigar and truly one of the best values I've found. The construction of this stick is better than most expensive cigars and the burn is perfect. On to a box of these babies.
Gispert is a fantastic smoke from start to finish. It reminded me of a good book; you didn't want to put it down. You will not regret adding this one to your inventory.
