A Humi MUST HAVE!! These babies are SUPERB to say the least. However, I just heard they are ALL SOLD OUT so please move to a different stick....No need to look here anymore!! No, seriously GO AWAY!!
had a heck of a time tryin to find me a bundle and finally i snagged one. for the price you can't beat and it's a stick with woody and spice flavors with that being said the two cross and make a good combination for a relaxing smoke.
The "Gran Habano Vintage 2002", @ 39.99 for a bundle of 20 robusto's, UNBELIEVABLE! Very woody, peppery and just the right amount of sweetness, to put this cigar up there with some of the best cigars for the dime, that i have ever smoked. Talk about under the radar, you must try this one before they are gone. I'm not over selling this stick one bit. Simply delicious. If you haven't already, what are you waiting for? ENJOY.
The Gran Habano Vintage Maduro (Robusto) is a terrific cigar. The flavor developed very well after about 3 months of storage. I would describe the taste as herbal (i.e.earthy green tea), rich and smooth. The draw is soft and the burn is mostly straight. Only one roll from the entire mazo disappointed me.
These are really excellent cigars for the money, beautifully constructed and presented. The smooth, refined flavor of the Corojo really comes through and the filler provides notes of mild spice, cedar, and white pepper. There have been a few minor irregular burn issues but these usually correct themselves. If you enjoy Corojo, I highly suggest you try these. The wrapper used is top notch. I'm very happy to have these on hand, they are a welcome change of pace to the heavy maduros I normally smoke.
I am thinking that if one is patient enough to hold onto these for a year or so to let the filler tobaccos age a little more they may just be exquisite.
This is NOT a "Cheapie" but a cigar that is good in all aspects. This recent Mazo that I purchased arrived very Wet. I removed the cedar and wrapper and placed on top of my box for 29 hours. This cigar does not dissapoint, white grey ash and rolled with integrity. I will not get into nuts, earth and all of that other stuff but I will say for me, it is a solid medium most enjoyable under $50.00 cigar. It is a permanent resident along with Indian Tabac Ltd. Reserve, another great cigar moderately priced cigar .
Power to the people, Power to CI.
This is the best stick I've tasted in a while, and at a reasonable price. Hope they don't catch on, more for me.
What a gem!
I hope nobody buys these so CI's inventory can be my personal stash.
Greedy I know but I hope these never sell out.
I can hope......
I received one in a gift pack of assorted cigars. I was completely blown away by this cigar, a rich tobacco taste with long slow burn. Burned it till nothing was left! Just ordered a bundle.
I got these on the daily deal and what a pleasant surprise. I thought they might be a nice kick around stick and now I find myself choosing them over other pricier sticks. Great construction and burn, pleasant taste and overall a very smooth cigar. I will be back for more of these!
The Gran Habano Vintage 2002 Robusto was a good - and interesting buy. Upon receiving my 20 pack, I couldn't help but put only 19 in my humi and try 1 for myself. It seemed a bit green to me, as if the aging claims were greatly exaggerated. I keep 2 humidors, 1 @70 and the other @65%. I dropped 2 - (1 undressed, 1 still in its cedar skirt) into the 65% box, which is reserved for those "on deck" for smoking.
After a few weeks I tried the naked 1 and was surprised, but not totally pleased with how it had changed. Not bad, just not good. The next week I tried the skirted 1. Wow, what a difference. It was just right in moisture and flavor! Leave those skirts on until it's time to light up! I have smoked at least 6 since then.....with company and alone. This is a nice smoke with considerable flavor. The pricing makes it a very good deal all around.
My taste/favs I especially enjoy: Padron's Serie 1926, Padilla's 1932, Rocky's Decade, Edge, I-Press.
I am a pretty big fan of the Rico family of cigars. This one (Gran Habano Vintage 2002), however, fell a bit short for me. Not a bad smoke, but I did not find the flavor profile as enjoyable as the normal production Gran Habano Corojo. I found the cigar pretty boring and really was put off by the strong charcoal-ish flavor notes. I also had several draw issues in the first 6 or 7 cigars. For the same price, I can buy other Cigars at CI that put these to shame. Try the El Mejor Emerald or Blue Label, both $40 a box.
I was doing a trade with a BOTL and requested a couple of these since they've been spoken of highly on the Joe Cigar banter ... finally got around to having one tonight ... Normally, I like bigger cigars with wider ring gauges, but it was pretty chilly tonight and so I thought I'd go with this robusto for a "quicker" smoke - it lasted a long time ... I like cedar, so the cedar wrapping is a big plus ... It was a little spicy/hard on the tongue when I first lit it, and took about 1/2 an inch to settle down ... from then on it was smooth sailing ... I liked the touch of sweetness which I'm still tasting an hour later ... burn, construction and draw were very good ... no problems ... a very enjoyable smoke which I took all the way down to the end ... from here I'll just refer to the very first review (p.3) which I feel says it well. Thanks, CI and GH for a very fine, affordable cigar.
I'm becoming a huge fan of CI's prices on 2 Gran Habano cigars: 3 Siglos and Vintage 2002. In the robusto size, both are incredible values (currently at $2-$3 each???!). Both are nutty, smooth, and even have an occasional, very mild wintergreen aftertaste (as best I can describe it). The vintage also has a bit of spice (pepper), while the 3 Siglos is a bit creamier. Great quality for the money. Thanks, CI! May the cigar gods continue to be so gracious.
I can only describe this cigar one way, and that is like a great steak. The wrapper has an incredibly meaty flavor it's like tasting a beautifully grilled ribeye. Volumes of smoke invade your senses much like a sensual woman in a misty dream, too powerful to ignore yet you can't get enough and want it to last forever. Toward the end of this gem, and I'm talking about the last inch or two, subtle hints of coffee start to come out, elevating the experience to that of a main course and after dinner dark roast java. This is an unbelievably good cigar that I hope stays around for a long time!
Shhhhhhhh! Nothing to see here, move along.......
Very good medium to full cigar with nice flavor from the first puff to the very end. The first half of the smoke is influenced by the cedar sleeve and has an aromatic quality. The strength builds throughout the smoke but does not become distracting. The draw and burn is usually good although occasionally, I have had a side burning one. This is a tremendous value overall and this cigar will remain in my stable.
Solid smoke for the price, that's it.
The price may have swayed the reviews.
I was not overly impressed.
Got a bundle of these on an e-mail special, the write-up and pics looked quite tempting. After polishing off about two thirds of them now, I kinda wish I'd bought two bundles ! This is just a GREAT value in a big cigar ! Has a rich taste, burns fairly even, draw is right at the edge ( but not quite ) of being a bit too tight - - - - they loosen up pretty good 1/4 into the smoke. The cedar wrap on the cigar sure seems to add that ' something extra ' to the overall smell/taste factor. Excellent smoking after a big filling dinner ! ! !
WOW.. what a great little smoke, and a very nice price. Seems like the flavor changes with every puff, and does not disappoint, nice aroma too.. Great right out of the bag, and even better after sitting in the humi for a while. I have been eyeballing these for a while, and I'm really glad I finally jumped on them. Haven't had a bad one yet, and I'm over halfway through the bundle.
I was pleasantly surprised by it considering it costs 2 x 3 times less then what I usually buy. Hard to believe, still in shock (positive one). Cheap sometimes means good! Thanks CI.
My best friend turned me on to these and I have never let my humi run out of them since. Good pre light aroma, excellent burn, taste is consistent and full throught out. The best cigar for the money on the market today. I buy a bundle every month for fear of the inventory running out again.
These are good cigars nice aroma and taste , out of a bundle I have had 2 that would not light on one side, never seen that, must be the Cigar Gods Taking Revenge on me for something I have done in the past, Great cigar well worth the money, will order more , nuff said
Words alone can't describe how good this cigar is! A nice earthy coffee bean aroma that I loved. I got this one in a Black Friday sampler. I will most certainly order a bundle of these in the near future.
The robusto of this blend is absolutely delicious with just a little rest. The churchill on the other hand is a total waste of tobacco. They will not burn right and will just tick you off something terrible. Robusto=good, churchill=bad
I just picked these up yesterday. These babys are as tasty as they look.
I puffed one right out of the bundle, even the wife liked the aroma. Burned good all the way to the nub. It is a well constructed cigar with a nice draw. I don't know all the lingo, and won't even go there. But This cigar is a damn good one. I just found a new favorite.
I was first introduced to the GH line as a freebie. The cigar had mixed reviews: people either loved them or hated them. I thought it was a great smoke. So I decided to try the GH Vintage 2002. For $2/cigar, how could you go wrong? Well, it has become my fav smoke of the summer. Great taste, great draw and burn, tasty till the last drag. I use a punch, and unlike the far more expensive 94-rated alec bradley (that disappointed with a horrible draw), the 2002 was perfect thru the punch. Only thing I ask is please don't buy them all up. I'm having too good a time...
Construction and burn were excellent (10/10). I would say the taste as well (8.5/10), but the cedar aging has given it a sweet flavor and I don't perfer sweet smokes. Still an outstanding smoke.
Great little smoke. Construction of cigar is perfect on everyone I've
smoked. You have to resist chewing the wrapper on these and the
power and taste are well balanced. I'll be adding more of them to my humidor so keep them stocked up CI.
The Gran Habano Vintage 2002 has definately been the highlight of my cigar smoking this year, I have been trying different cigars and have a number of favourites but this one is top of my list. I love the gorgeous flavour and the taste they leave on my lips, I love the perfect chewy wrapper, each cigar has been easy to light, and smoked perfectly and evenly to the end, I can smoke these down untill they almost burn my fingertips. I will always have some in my humidor, long may C.I. keep selling them.
So I've smoked many sticks by now that cost 5 times what I paid for a bundle of these. Tasty; I always go to this little beauty. Time to count em. I love em!!!!!!
I'm not impressed. I'm sure many others enjoy this.I like the construction and the draw but the flavor just isn't for me. Just because I don't enjoy this doesn't mean you're not.
I will boldly state this is one of the best cigars i have smoked. The price you cannot beat. This is the best value on the market. I would recomend this cigar to anyone. It is a bit strong so if you are a begginer you may wanna stick to the mac-a-noodles , but if you like a stick that will give you a kick in the gut you must atleast try. Great Job! to CI for this one.
I was drawn by the packaging. Bought a box and thought they were great! As my supply dwindles I noticed they are really tough to keep lit about half way through and start getting bitter at the last third. Got alot of smoke and a effortless draw, which is everything to me.. Not bad but not great either.
always a favorite, these cigars are made with such care, they construction is a an A+. The flavor is perfect and they pack a solid punch, I wish they were not sold out.
Three words "buy a box". These are top shelf cigars. Excellent construction, beautiful wrappers, and a very tasty smoke. Would call therm mild/med with a very nice blend of leaves. Highly recommend!
I am not very good at coming up with descriptive adjectives to describe this or any other cigar. Guess that is why I am not a writer. I like medium to full bodied cigars and this one fits that description. I have had many other, much more expensive cigars that couldn't hold a candle to this one. Only complaint is that some of the churchills have had too tight a draw, but the taste & consistency is always spot on. If you are on the fence about this one, go ahead and jump on over. What have you got to lose? It's only 2 bucks a stick.
Cigars are a matter of what one prefers. I've smoked cigars for nearly 30 years now, and this one is my favorite.
This is one of the best smokes out there. To me (I know others have different tastes) it is as good as any super, ultra premium. I have over 50 different "brands" of cigars in my humidors and the Vintage 2002 is as good as any.
I bought 20 of these around July 4, 2010. I tried one too soon after arrival, it was o k. Six weeks later it has developed into a very nice smoke. For this price I really did not expect a lot. Friends and others said they are great, so I waited. They were right! This the best smoke you can imagine for the $2 price tag, simply amazing! Enjoy!
Smoked one of these babies in a sampler I received. After about an inch I orderd a 20 bundle Robusto. Great body and taste, cool smoke , the same cigar from start to finish. Could not put it down. I'll do it again!
Gonna be a great couple of days off knowing I have a great cigar.
What a great cigar. I have never had a Gran Habano product before I got a bundle of these (robustos), but now I cannot wait to try their other lines. Gone through 4 or 5 of these and have not had any quality issues. Rich, luxurious smoke and a unique flavor. I have not been into cigars that long and I don't know what to compare these to, but I love them. This cigar is also extremely good looking, even without the cedar sleeve. Can't believe how cheap these are!
Yes! This is what I spend all those countless hours surfing CI for...always in search of that one stick that A) Isn't the equivalent to a car payment and B) Has that in your face flavor...this is it gents! Honestly wasn't expecting much from this stick and was blown away.
The last time I wanted to order some of these gems all sizes were out of stock. I'm gettin' me some of these bad boys this time around. I had my first taste of these Gran Habano Vintage 2002 in one of the samplers I bought a few months back. I went to order them while the nub was still smoldering. And as I said, there were none to be had. Looks like Christmas is going to come twice this year because my order is going in today. To try them is to love them. No freakin' kidding.
Bought these beauties on the "Two Fer Tuesday Deal". Being a big fan of Corojo wrapped cigars I couldn't wait to get my hands on these to try them out. WOW I was floored! I normally smoke Toro sized cigars but this Robusto lasted a long time with a beautiful ash that held on over two inches. I paired this with a glass of Crown Royal XR and the stresses of the day melted away! This is my new Favorite and will stay stocked in my humi. Thanks CI
I have been smoking these for almost a year now.Always consistant flavor, good draw, and excellent burn. I have only had a few that needed re-lit. Everytime I smoke one of these I look at and say, "Damn, Thats a good cigar!"
This is a GOOD cigar! I smoked this robusto-size stick after being in my humidor only one week. First light revealed lots of spice and pepper, some leather and a subtle sweetness. By the end of the first third, the sweetnes was gone with some cedar flavor coming through. Half-way through a woody taste dominated with spice diminishing and becoming smoother until I finally had to reluctantly end it at the nub. Volumes of smoke and only one re-light with a slightly uneven ash burn. Perfect draw throughout the length of the cigar. Save yourself some "alone time" to enjoy this stick as in my case, the total experience was easily over an hour. Definitely a keeper!
May 25: The first two sticks OTT were bitter, bitter, bitter. Although they are well constructed like a BSH and burn magnificently, they were as smooth as vinegar and broken glass. Paying respect to Steve-o's opinion of these, I put them in the humi today with the hope of taming these wild beauties.
June 24: Eureka! After four weeks in the humi these cigars have lived up to Steve-o’s 92 rating. These are a real winner. I concur with Steve-o’s write up on these and I can’t believe that CI let these go for $2.50 a stick – are they crazy? It must be from drinking that Lehigh Valley water. These are very close to a Punch Chateau L Maduro. What a wonderful cigar! I just placed another order of Winstons. Thanks CI.
CI should include a roach clip with every purchase of this cigar, since I couldn't let go of it until it was burning my fingers. While on a cruise last year, I had the chance to smoke a real Cuban cigar (Cohiba VI & Montecristo). From that time on I have ordered several sampler packs from CI looking for the cigar that would come close to the Cuban. While there were many smoked that were great, they still didn't measure up to the Cuban. My search is over as of today, this cigar was outstanding and didn't have to take back seat to any other brand or country who makes cigars. It is a smoke that doesn't burn your throat or tongue in the least bid no matter how short it gets. I'm not good with describing all the flavors, all I know; this is a fantastic stick that CI is to be commended for including in the Black Friday Maduro Sampler pack. If you want to smoke a great cigar, do yourself a favor and at least purchase one of these Grand Habano Corojo Vintage 2002. As another person said; I can't believe how cheap this great cigar is in price.
This cigar is awsome from start to finish. Got one in a sampler and immediately ordered a bundle. Cant imagine a better value.
Wow, great smoke, great price. I buy cigars monthly you can bet next month I will be ordering a few bundles of them. What a great value for an every day smoke.
This smoke was pleasantly surprising. It has a great cedar taste and finishes smooth with a hint of coffee. I would recommend this cigar and buy it again. The price is awesome for such a quality product.
I ordered these back in September of 2010. I have since then let them sit in my humidor. I got one out and toasted it. First thought, very mild with a older Tabacco without the musk. Very short finish.
These are a great value buy, and are a great morning cigar. They have a light flavor that I find suited to that need.
Bottom line, great value, great smoke.
wow this is a fantastic smoke right down to the nub! (i smoked it till my face was on fire) don't hesitate picking up a bundle of these, you wont be disappointed!
These are great, more like what you would expect from a $6 stick. Good balance throughout, a bit of a heavy earth start but smooths out with a nice leather and mild earthy taste. Lots of thick smoke smooth on the palate and little lingering after taste. A few have an uneven burn, but most burn perfect 1-2 inch ash, no pepper at all. These are my favorite daily smoke, and are much better than some of my more expense sticks. A steal at CI price. I find they taste and burn best for my preference at 65%-68% humidity, 70% needs a couple relights. A must try...
Got 20 of these a few weeks ago, and boy am I pleased I got them. I had a CI magazine on my floor (I know CI Nation, how dare me have the catalog on the floor) and the Gran Habano Vintage 2002 was on the cover. I kept walking past it and it would randomly call to me... then I finally bought them. For this price, it's past worth it! Great draw, great burn, GREAT flavor, GREAT cigar! I gave out a 3 of these for a "group therapy" session outside one evening while enjoying the night. Two of the other guys who smoked these have 20 plus years of cigar smoking under their belt. They all enjoyed the cigar tremendously! And as one was halfway through the cigar he said, "I don't usually keep the labels of my cigars, but this one, I have too." Enough said, buy and rejoice!
I often wonder why anyone (myself included) spends $25 or more dollars or more on a cigar when there are cigars as great as this available. It's a staple in my humidor and one of my favorites when I'm let down by many of my expensive attempts to find the perfect smoke. This not only has the taste, draw and construction of cigars tasting four to five times the price, but the packaging and appearance provide further evidence of a really great cigar. In my opinion this is one of the industries great values.
If you're reading the reviews and sitting on the fence about buying them...take the leap and grab them while you can. This is a great daily smoke with good flavor, nice construction and, at two bucks a stick, I promise you won't be disappointed. I'm about six cigars into the bundle and look forward to tasting them as they mature.
Ok, I've been smoking cigars for almost 20 years and I expect the following from a cigar. Excellent draw with good smoke production and good flavor. Of course a pretty cigar that burns well is a bonus. The Gran Habano Vintage Corojo Churchhil is a great smoke. Perfect draw, nice burn, beautuful wraper a smooth robust taste with no bite. I love this cigar! I know taste is subjective, but it has gobs more flavor than the Padron 3000 natural wrapper I'm smoking at the moment. Of course I'm a sucker for a well made Corojo wrapper, and the Gran Habano looks so good I could eat it. This is a great cigar that is worth 3 times or more the price!
Ordered the weekly special of the Gran Habanos Vintage (20 sticks for $35). Can't beat the price. The Gran Habano is a not bad, but not great. Smoked with a perfect draw, with no worries or a re-light. The taste was rich, however it was not as smooth as expected. Having the guys over and want to pass around a decent cigar for a cheap price, this is your cigar. My taste preference being a maduro, the Gran Habano Vintage didn't quite meet my expectations.
If you're ever over at reddit's cigars, you'll know me as the guy who always recommends these sticks to everyone, whether they're a newbie just buying their first non-sampler pack or a seasoned vet that can fully appreciate a good cigar. The Gran Habano Vintage 2002 is an amazing stick, the price notwithstanding. They're always well constructed with a consistent burn and flavor profile. They have none of the bitterness that can come with many other cheaper cigars. The price is an added bonus! I prefer the smaller vitola, but you really can't go wrong.
Friend of mine turned me on to this great cigar in chruchill length, and smoked it from beginning to the nub, very smooth. Typically I use a little technique I learned to burn the peppery taste of the cigar as a result of tar build up. After about half way I blow into the cigar from the end I have been sucking on, and light the end at the same time producing a flame that shoots out of the lit end burning up the tar residue that has built up, and then continuing to smoke with a taste that is refreshed like I just lit it from the beginning. However, with this cigar it wasn't necessary, and it was smooth smoking from beginning to the nub. I liked them so much i ordered a box of Robusto's for myself. You definately want a box of these in your humidor.
I dont ever take the time to write a comment about a cigar this is my first, but for this one I couldnt help myself. after reading all the great comments about this cigar all I can say is cigars have come and gone but this one will always have a permanent spot in my humidor. What a great cigar.
I bought a 20 count mazo of these upon the recommendations of others. After I smoked the first one I thought I was going to regret it. I did not care for the taste and the filler appeared to have lots of stems in it. I let them sit for several months and now I have had a couple more. They have changed for the better. I would buy more but with the knowledge that these really need to sit for a while before the flavor gets better.
Picked up a 10 pack of a CI special for 22.00, they were reconmended by a fellow cigar bum.
Will pick up more after the experiance I just had. Flavors are consistent sweetness with a hint of nice spice
never overpowering just right, ash didnt hold more than an inch and greyish.
If I could compare it to another cigar was similar to a Gurka Blue Steel.
Will be grabing more to stock the humidor for summer time
Great smoke, great CI Price
I love this cigar. I have not had a single cigar not burn absolutely perfect. No hard draws, consistent flavor, great construction. Lots of smoke, great with coffee or bourbon. I've paid more for cigars but none equal in consistency. Worth every cent!
This cigar is wonderful! Smooth rich and will stand tall with any competition. It is that good. Who said you cannot get a great cigar at an affordable price? No really....who said that?
This is a very good cigar and been smoking them for a while, that until price went up and cigar quality went down, last ones where too dry and flaky even after spending some time in the humidor, don’t know what happened? However for $39.99 a box it’s good. for $49.99 or $59.99, I don’t think so...
In my search for the perfect cigar, I think I have come close. At the risk of sounding cliché, I believe the #5 Corojo Vintage 2002 is one of the best values on the market today. It's flavor hits you as soon as you apply your lighter to it. The cedar wrapper imparts a flavor that gets your attention. The wrapper keeps your attention. It maintains an outstanding, dynamic flavor throughout the smoke and seems to 'grow some legs' about half-way through. At no point does it disappoint. These cigars seem to be disappearing, so I know I need to load up. It will be a disappointment when they disappear for good. And ... a message to the good folks at Gran Habano: Please ... do it again ... soon!
I have smoked a ton of the brands that CI carries at least once, both high dollar and cheap. For the price, this cigar cannot be beat for flavor, appearance and burn. The only thing you might miss is a fancy cedar box!
Just a note on the Robusto v. Churchill discussion. I ordered a mazo of Churchills thinking why not spend the extra 5 bucks for 40" more of cigar! Earlier posters note problems with burn, I've had none--either ROTT or after now two weeks rest. Wasn't crazy about flavor ROTT--strong sour note. Quite good a week in, at two weeks, all the way delish. Maybe there was a production problem earlier? Anyway, my mazo thus far burns great and seems to get tastier by the day....
Robusto. Good draw, even burn, plenty of smoke once it gets going. VERY smooth, light on flavor compared to what I'm used to; like drinking a white tea when you're used to Earl Grey, good flavor but subtle. Not really my thing but not bad at all. At least one of my friends is going to be very happy that these don't fit me and that I have 4 left, they are right up his alley.
Gotta have this one in your humi. Really good to have with a glass of any dark rum, this is just a great smoke. Think I might just order me another bundle.
These are worth much more!! A great stick at an awesome price!!
I think I am starting to enjoy these.... I find the cedar flavor from the wrapping to be a bit overbearing, but am a big fan of the Corojo flavor.
At this time given I can get other varieties for less, but will not hesitate to pick up a bundle for a special occasion.
Aside from the strong cedar taste, it is a great smoke through and through.... Do not hesitate to pick up a bundle of these, they are not bad. Just not as good as I was anticipating.
TOP OF THE HEAP! Gotta a lot of cigars in my humidors that I paid a lot more than for the 2002's, but I don't think I'd trade my Vintage's for any of them! They burn great, have top notch flavor and aroma, and the price? I think they're the best value in all cigardom. I haven't been without them in my stock in many years! Highly recommend.
My new favorite cigar. One of the rare sticks you'll find that has STRONG intense flavor and medium-full body, but that also takes you back with how smooth it stays at the same time. Do not buy. These are MINE!
What a great smoke at an everyday price. I bought some and liked them so much, I bought another 20. Great construction, draw and taste. Haven't found a dud yet. I will be buying these in the future....
These puppies are out of sight...got 2 bundles when they were the weekly special a few months back, and still have most of the 2nd bundle left, but wow...I'm gonna stock up on these some more and in the longer length if possible. They smoke so evenly that I even mistakenly lit the nub end after I chopped it off to light up the other day and it still smoked evenly from the other end. The smoke is full and creamy and stays lit without much effort. Even the robusto length will give you easily over an hour of smoke time. A 90 rated cigar for this price is just candy waiting to be enjoyed.
Yep, this is good. 8/10 for a couple dollars. The last 2 inches can taste foul if you smoke it too quickly.
Gotta be the best cigar value for the money that's out there! Every cigar in the bundle is flawlessly constructed. They burn beautifully....wonderful flavor profile...can't say enough good things about this cigar. I regularly reach past much more expensive cigars in my humidors to grab one of these. Truly an all-time favorite! I've got 45 on the way....Nice!
Bought these (churchills) as a special in a 20 pack and have thus far been underwhelmed. The flavor is there, of course, but getting to it on about half the smokes so far has been as challenging as garden hoses and golf balls. I've taken to poking the ends with a very long, thin nail from the shop in an effort to reduced the drag of the draw; helps some, but it's not the same. On the half that are breathable, the taste is worth the price for a pack of 20 -- of the 20 I purchased, looks like I will enjoy 10 of them.
+1 for price, +1 for flavor, +1 for the smoke; -1 for construction, -1 for consistency: 3 out of 5 stars.
I was really looking forward to these cigars after purchasing on the Daily Deal. Unfortunately, I was extremely disappointed. The mediocre flavor is the best aspect. The draw is very easy, but the burn was terrible. I thought the first one was a fluke, but after smoking five in the bundle, all had the same lousy, very uneven burn. I have given away the rest of the bundle. Much better cigars are available for $2.50 each and less.
Gran Habano Vintage 2002 in Churchill is a mild bodied cigar. Pretty one dimensional flavors of wood cedar and semi-sweet nuttiness. Draw was good. Slightly long finish. Construction was perfect with no need for touch ups. Overall I rate a 85.
First let me say that I think these are good cigars, BUT if you buy a bundle be prepared to wait a while to smoke them. Everyone I have had in a sampler is ready to go and very good, but the bundles are as green as a Christmas Tree. I am guessing the samplers sit around a little longer and age, while the bundles go in and out fast. The wrapper is 2002, the filler is not. Buy them, hang on to them for 6 months or a year and enjoy. Construction is VERY good for the pricepoint.
Hard not to agree with all of the accolades these have gotten. I regularly re-order the Churchills. I can set my watch by them because they are literally a 2-hour cigar if you're not sucking it like a professional. I cannot add anything more to the taste/flavors and burn quality that hasn't already been said. Fantastic value for the price point and when you're done chasing the pricier "names" -- you'll realize that you don't have to lay siege to your bank account to get a high-quality stick at a more than reasonable price. Flipping that equation, you don't have to skimp and go with a "sub-standard" cigar as a regular, recurring smoker, either.
I have to say I only had one so far. But the quality and smoothness of the first one has me convinced that if this was the only cigar left in the Humidor, I would not be disappointed.
I got some churchills about 6 months ago. For the price I was good with it but some time in the humidor has certainly made them better. Still im not sure I'd recommend this size but its still a good value and I certainly dont regret the purchase.
These are my "Go To" babies when I want to relax with a nice flavorful smoke at the end of the day with my favorite drink - these go well with anything from a good cabernet to a beer - just an excellent smooth stick!
I think these cigars are delicious! Smooth and nice to look at and burn smoothly...but what do I know. I'm not a cigar snob. I just like what tastes good. ;)
Honestly not one of those guys who can tell you what it tastes like, but I will say that my tastes generally run in the lines of Kristoffs, Camacho triple maduros, and Liga Privada's. These are strangely on par with these. My only complaint is that the triple caps are sometimes not perfect. Other than that, these smokes are criminally cheap to buy but fantastic to smoke. Give em a week to chillax in the 'dor and you will wish you bought more than one mazo.
I love my cigars, and I have tried just about every kind........for me the Gran Habano Vintage 2002 will stand up against most hi end cigars. I can not believe the price CI is selling these for...unbeliveable. and now this weeks speical just happens to be the Gran Habano Vintage 2002......and at 39.99 start up 49.99 for the 60 ring....all I can say is WOW!!!!!!for this price, this could be my everyday cigar. As we all know the price will go back up to it regular price of say 70 bucks after the week, and even at its regular CI price, its still a bargin.....I know I sound like I work for CI, but I don"t.....maybe they will like what I wrote and send me a free box of 60 ring......one can only hope
This is nestling comfortably in my humidor next to the size Tatuajes which it compares favorably, except at a third the price. Looking at them I can't tell the difference.
How the &%$^ are you selling these at this price? Who did you steal these from? Thanks for practically giving these away...
I got a great deal on MMAO for the 6 X 60 Gordo. This is a very nice cigar. All of them had a good draw and excellent construction. The flavor smooth with a nice balance. Nice smooth slow burn. Bottom Line: Get some of these. You won't be sorry.
Tried these a few years back and after a short hiatus from cigar smoking I bought a bundle of Robustos. So far I have smoked 4 and every one has been almost plugged. All have required several relights to keep them going. Not a pleasant experience. Don't know if I got a bad batch or if the construction quality has diminished over the past 2-3 years. In any case I'm fairly sure that I won't be buying another bundle any time soon.
I got this tasty treat with my Backyard Boogie Sampler and i have to say that the Gran Habano Vintage 2002 was excellent slow burn and great aroma. This will defenetly on my next order!.......Thnxs CI....as always "Keep a happy face and smoke with pride".
Have smoked several of the robusto Gran Habano Corojo's and I'm not too impressed. Very one dimensional with a charred flavor that never opened up or developed. Didn't get much corojo flavor either. Not horrible but a five on a ten scale.
Update to previous review. Reported construction problems with the Robusto....tendency to plug. Smoked some more of the sticks and the burn was fairly consistent. So construction/burn seems to be a hit or miss proposition. Still, not to my taste....rather one dimensional and not enough flavor other than straight tobacco.
Took a chance, GLAD I did. I was looking to stock up my humidor & figured for the price I'd take a chance on these. SO glad I did. This is a great smoke, mine started off I'd say medium but slowly ramped up towards the end. You can't go wrong with these, a great smoke at a great price.
This cigar is not in the same category as my top shelf brands. But for the price your taste buds may never know it.
Great smoke! Offered some to the neighbors and they weren't ready for this! I think they were too use to mild-medium blends... If you like a strong, full bodied cigar, then this is right up your alley!
Fantastic smoke! Smooth with deep flavors, easily worth twice the price. Perfect burn with a lot of smoke. Light notes of cedar and pepper. Would definitely pick up more again!
Great cigar for the money. Good burn, consistent, smoked all 20 below the label. I just found my every day cigar!
Recently purchased the Gordo bundle, smoked one right out of the box, very nice, smooth smokin. However the next day, I tried another and I couldn't keep it lit, and it burned unevenly. Tried another, same result. Switched them to a different humidor and will try them again in a couple days. Hoping it was just something I did wrong....
The Gran Habano Vintage 2002 is actually a great deal milder than I had expected. When I see "Corojo," I think of Camacho's Corojo Series or Punch's Rare Corojo (which doesn't even contain any Corojo leaf, but whatever), both of which are pretty robust and spicy blends. This vintage Gran Habano is not in the same butt-kicking league as those two, and it doesn't match them in complexity, either, but these are most definitely NOT complaints. That familiar Corojo character is certainly present, with the coffee/mocha notes and the long, chewy finish, just without the gut-punching shock & awe of a Camacho. Construction is superb, draw is just barely on the loose side of perfect, and it's quite beautiful to look at as well, one of the most attractive cigars I've seen in quite some time. The burn is nice and slow if a bit uneven at points, but if a razor-sharp dead-even burn were the most important thing in the world to me, then I would not be smoking a Corojo-wrapped cigar. It goes with the territory. What's more, this cigar has piqued my interest in the regular Gran Habano Corojo No. 5 line, which —if the reviews are anything to go by— is a more full-bodied experience than these Vintage smokes. I think I'll be going for a box of the Rothschilds pretty soon. Many thanks for the fabulous deal on these.
If you like Corojo then this is one you should try. It starts out with a soft flavorful taste of leather and chocolate. As you smoke it the flavor strengthens slightly with a little tobacco flavor added to the mix. It never builds much more flavor from the middle to the end. I give it a thumbs up! Of course, I am partial to the Corojo leaf.
Wow! CI has done it again. Premium cigars that taste great, burn evenly and draw smooth as silk for a bargain basement price. Count me in for more. Thanks CI!
Very good cigar for the price. However, it is not Medium-Full, more like Mild, kinda bland.
I just ordered my second bundle of these. I'm smoking the last one of the first bundle as I write this. I'm a robusto smoker and I tried one of the Gran Habano #5 cigars yesterday and it just wasn't the same as the 2002 is. Maybe it's the aging, maybe it's the cedar but it's perfect. I'm planning to buy a couple more humidors just so I can stock these and never be without. This baby is my favorite cigar by far. The price makes it even better. Enjoy.
I am always the guy who brings stoagies for everyone when we hit the golf course. I have brought some very high rated and expensive cigars to our outings, but none have garnered the reviews of the Gran Habano Corojo Vintage 2002. Everyone raves about these cigars and I lead them to believe I paid a ton for them! Best cigar for the price I have ever purchased. One added benefit is that there is no aftertaste the next day. These babies burn clean and I don't have to wake up the next morning with cigar mouth. Thanks CI for these fantastic cigars at a great price!!!
Nice cigar. It was a little dry when I smoked it. I put the rest in the humidor a few weeks in there should take care of that. Plus I am still new to this. About six months ago I drove by a cigar store and said ..."What the hell!" So here I am six months building a nice little collection. With new knowledge it is much cheaper to by online than the cigar shop. I average about 3.50 a cigar opposed to 10.00.
Hyperbole Free Review: This is a good buy, but manage your expectations. It is very consistent in both taste and burn. And you can afford to smoke these every day, so it's an excellent edition to your humidor. I bought these on a friend's recommendation. Typically I pass by cigars that seem to be trying too hard - like all the ridiculous bling on this stick. Two rings, cedar wrapping, red ribbon. For crying out loud, you can only see less than 1" of the wrapper! But don't be too turned off; this is very smokable. Be aware: This cigar is feather light. The reason it's cheap is because it isn't dense and the wrapper is of average quality (pro tip: The cedar wrapper doesn't add taste - it adds weight in your hand. And, along with the gaudy rings, it hides obvious defects in the wrapper). All those faults aside, however, I've been very happy with this medium flavor cigar. And if I'm smoking two cigars back-to-back, I often pick this one to start me off and then finish with a better quality, full-body, stick. For the price, you should be happy with the Gran Habano Corojo Vintage 2002. (See what I mean about the ridiculous extra bling? They even apply it to the name. For short, one should just refer to this as The Hipster).
Great construction, great draw, great stick. 1 left in the box & fighting the temptation. Can't say enough about this stick.
This has easily become one of my humi faves! It's such a smooth and tasty cigar for a ridiculously decent price! Fantastic roll. I was able to stand it up on its aha just like it is pictured here! Pairs perfectly with my morning coffee or my evening beer. I have no problem recommending this to my friends. Long ashes to you Gran Habano!
Can I just say, I wish someone had handed me this cigar as my first??? Boy I'm pissed! There is nothing bad about this one, other than my personal preference. For this coffee burnt tongue I found it to be only mild-medium in strength, but meaty medium in flavor! There was nothing harsh about it, and for me it was almost borderline underwhelming. It had just enough flavor to be satisfying, and they were all good; medium toast nuts and wood and milk chocolate sweetness on the nose. I would hand this to a first timer who knows they love their coffee and dark chocolate, or a mild lover who wants to try more flavor but not strength. For me this just wasn't intense enough to buy again, but it certainly wasn't a mistake! Construction was good, and the burn evened my own mis-even lighting mistakes out. Smoke came in just a decent volume and easily, any less wouldn't have been enough, and it would cease smoking and cool down very quickly, allowing vigorous draws but I never had to keep puffing on it to keep it from going out. Again, buy as a first timers sampler or in a tasting, this one would be hard to hate.
Wow! This is great deal for an everyday cigar! I highly recommend it! 90 plus rating!
Outstanding smoke. Great flavor and burn from first puff to the last.
I didn't love the first few puffs, but once it got going, a pretty enjoyable smoke. I got a bundle of 6X60's at a good price. Much nicer than staring at a nearly empty humidor.
4 out of 5 stars for this one. It had great flavor all the way through. It was a tad strong but the taste made up for it. I would recommend this cigar.
This cigar is awsome from start to finish. Got a bundle and immediately ordered 2 more bundles. Cant imagine a better value.”
Yeah. A great cigar. I ordered 40 just because of the reviews w/o ever having smoked one..don't usually do that but I'm glade I did. I wasn't expecting such a tasty, well burning and well built cigar but that's what I got. Phew...very pleased indeed. I'll be stocking up for sure.
Not a bad cigar at a good price, but the few I've smoked had a pretty strong cedar taste. I do like the cedar, but it seems to drown the other flavors. It's well worth a try, but I bought a bundle of the 3 SLS at the same time and like them better.
I saw these in the Make Me an Offer and decided to take a chance. The offer I made was accepted and I received my order with in 5 day. Once I opened the box and lit one up I was amazed. The flavor was wonderful. I would suggest to any one that loves a good cigar to give these a try you will be very happy you did.
A very smooth cigar that is easy on the palate. Nice presentation and well constructed. It burns evenly and has a pleasant aroma. I like it!
A great cigar; first couple I had were tightly rolled, and the rest were very easy to smoke, and very tasty. I've ordered the Churchill and the Robusto. GET YOU SOME, YOU'LL LOVE THEM.
I ordered some those cigars recently, it was a great smoke; smooth, burn even and suave. I recommend.
I heared a lot of good comments about them so I got the bdl of 20. My first view was "it is ok" and I said those could be one of my daily cigars. However, after having been waiting for 2 months, they are getting amazing regarding taste, burn, aroma, consistency and flavor. Only thing that I can is that leave them in your humidor at least 2 months and enjoy. Can't wait to smoke them after 5-6 months. Absolutely, I will order again.
I enjoyed the churchill version very much so I tried robusto. The robustos had a VERY strong "wintergreen" smell and flavor out of the bundle. I eventually determined that this was the cedar they were wrapped in. Removing the cellophane and cedar wrap and then aging for a few months has taken the weird smell/flavor away mostly. After that, they're a pretty good bargain medium-bodied cigar, although I've had a bunch where the draw was much too tight rendering the cigar un-smokable.
I typically like cedary smells and flavors but for some reason the cedar used on these particular cigars created a very strong "chemical-ly wintergreen port-a-potty" smell and flavor - nothing like the cedar I'm used to in my humidor etc.
Recently I ordered those cigars, and I found it out to be a great cigar, very smooth, and suave smoking, burn even, I truly enjoy smoke this cigar. I shall order some more when I finish it.
Here's the deal: if you're looking for a nice, earthy smoke for the winter, these bad boys are amazing. Price is great and they never disappoint. Wrapper doesn't crack and the burn is even. I've bought these several times, in various rings and lengths. A must have for daily smoke and always a nice hand out at parties, especially for the price.
I have always been nervous about buying cigars online. However, a cigar buddy of mine has been hounding me to try these sticks. Since they were on sale here, I decided to split a bundle, and I am very impressed. At only $2 a stick I had my doubts, but this stick surprised me. Even right out of the mail box they smoked perfectly and had a very great flavor. Will be buying again!!
Ok, first time ever reviewing anything, but I can't keep my mouth shut on this one. Ordered these last week and smoked my first one tonight. Wow. Not the greatest cigar ever made, but wow. Got them on sale, and had I known they were going to be this solid, would have picked up a couple more mazos. Best cigar out there for the money, hands down.
I had been wanting to try Gran Habano Vintage 2002 for a while now and was especially glad to see they added a gordo size. The extra $10 dollars off was nice as well. But when I got the cigars and tried one I was blown away by the fact that these fine smokes weren't twice what I paid! The draw and the burn were perfect and the sweet corojo wrapper made it a great smoking experience. I will definitely buy these babies again!
After smoking about 10 of these (and I'll smoke no more) I have to disagree with most of the reviews for this cigar. I found these sticks to be overpoweringly full of cedar. I could tell there were some wonderful chocolate and tobacco flavors underneath, but the cedar was so strong that nothing else could come thru. The cedar just never lets up, and creates a very bitter smoke. It was literally like smoking a stick of cedar wood.
My very 1st order ever from CI had a bundle of the Vintage 2002 robustos. A medium/full bodied sparkplug of a smoke, that delivers in all areas, like cigars costing 3 times as much. Construction, check. Firmness, check. Draw, check. Flavor, double check! You get the idea. There must have been a heck of a harvest on the Corojo wrapper in 2002, since I have been smoking these non-stop for years. The 13 year old wrapper just gets better & better. How's that for aging? The cellophane on some I got last year was yellowed with age. Smooth & mellow, in spite of its full bodied characteristics, GHCV 2002 is often available for even less than the modest $2-2.50 asking price. A cedar & spice stick, you may be amazed at the complexity of this blend. I am. If you are looking for an everyday indulgence that won't break the bank, Gran Habano Corojo Vintage 2002 is your huckleberry! Mine too. I give it a solid 90 rating & wonder just how long that Corojo wrapper is gonna last!
These beauties are a hidden gem. Got my bundle of 20 in yesterday and after a day in my humidor, I just had to have one. Very tasty smoke, long gray ash.
One of my favorite sticks. I can pull this out on any occasion and just enjoy!
I originally had ordered some Perdomo cigars, but they were on backorder for almost 2 months. I decided to try the Gran Habanos. At 3 bucks a stick they are just as good, if not better than the Perdomos @ 7 bucks a stick. I cancelled the Perdomo order and got me some Gran Habanos. I am happy and so is my wallet!!
These cigars are outstanding! I am very satisfied that I ordered them and got a great deal! I just found a daily smoke at this price. Thanks CI!
The Gran Habano Vintage Maduro (Robusto) is a terrific cigar. Very good medium to full cigar with nice flavor from the first puff to the very end. The first half of the smoke is influenced by the cedar sleeve and has an aromatic quality. The strength builds throughout the smoke but does not become distracting.
I got a couple of these beauties in a sampler a while back. Being fairly new to cigar smoking (about a year now) I'm still trying to find exactly what kind of cigars I really like, so I keep the labels of the ones I enjoy most. I kept this label and when I found them on sale recently I had to pick up a bundle. I don't know all the fancy terms to describe what I taste, but the ones I seem to enjoy have a cedar/woodsy smell to them. Could be the cedar wrap, but I LOVE these sticks! For the price, you just can't go wrong. I find myself grabbing these over the more expensive and highly rated cigars I have in my humidor. I'm trying to let some mature for a few months to see how much better they get, but I just can't stay away from them!
Finally broke down and bought 20 Churchill at $2.00 a stick; what a steal. Great at twice the price. It's going to be a nice weekend.
These are the best! Quality and price the best!
This is now my everyday smoke. I haven't had one yet less than perfect. They burn evenly every time, they never split or crack when punched and the flavor is awesome right to the nub. I ended up purchasing a clip just for these so I could enjoy smoking them down to almost nothing left. Hope CI never runs out.
These are the best cigars for the money I ever smoked. Had one given to me as a gift and that's all it took. Nice burn, good draw and great taste.
Awesome as always!
Damn, I wish I would have ordered more at $39.99. I love these. Smoke them 'til I can't hold them anymore, then want to light up a second. By far one of my favorites. I will order more even at the higher price. Wish I would have ordered 100 at the sale price. Dang, these are good.
Great smoke and easy drag! A+++ for an everyday cigar!! Thank you, CI!!
Wow, to say these are fantastic is an understatement. Next time I order these lil beauties it will be to fill a humidor of their own. Thanks for the great find CI.
Love, love these sticks!! Been smok'n the gordo for at least a year or so and have yet to have a bad one. My Lt. friend in the PD said to light my stick with the sleeve on the stick; AMAZING. First hit, you guys need to try; trust me, you'll do it every time..
I ordered a bundle of these based on the reviews and I am pleased I did. If the strength was a bit higher I would rate them better, but still they are a good "taster's" cigar with plenty of flavor. Burn is great with lots of smoke and smoking time is on par with other similarly sized cigars. I would recommend and will buy again as a daily cigar option (I have several so far) Gran Habano seems to be offering good quality for the money and I will be trying other products from the brand as well.
2nd one out of 2nd BYB sampler. Great flavor, but wouldn't stay lit unlike the first?
Really good smoke. These are my backup goto cigars.
Great smoke! Just the right amount of pepper and earthy flavor.
Excellent value. A great looking cigar.
This is my go-to cigar. Burns and smokes well, never dis-satisfied, proven champion again and again.
Wow, this is a great smoke, a real finger burner at a great price.
tasteeeeeeeeeeeeee lil smoke!
This is probably the best lower price cigar that I have bought lately.
this cigar is much better than some would give it credit. I smoked only La Gloria series R number sixes for years. Thought I would see what else was out there and discovered this cigar. It is not a La Gloria but it cost half the price and is for the most part comparable. Hope this helps..
A very mellow cigar in the Medium to Bold category.... One of my favorites start to finish.
