“Smoked 2 so far (Bolivar '05) and am reminded of the Gurka Expedition (which is also a good smoke at a good price)”

“So far i have tasted this (Bolivar '05) twice and was convinced that i need to buy a box of these sticks.”

“These (Bolivar ''05) are great. What would you compare this too ??”
WS of Kings, CA
“Just tried a Bolivar '05...had added a five pack of them as an "afterthought" to an order of some of my CI favorites (Sherpas, La Estrella Cubana-Rosados, La Gloria Cubanas, Don Rafaels..)what a surprise...robust,complex, relaxing, but not "asskicking" strong...A new favorite...Love the variety of product available in five packs at CI...I'm always trying something new...and in this case found a brand new favorite..Bolivar '05..Thanks CI!!!”

“nice even burn / firm ash / nice draw /good to the last inch / great med bodied cigar / GOT TO SAY THUMBS UP /GREAT BUY (Bolivar ''05)”
DB of West Redding, CT
“Picked these (Bolivar '05) up as a friend was mentioning what an enjoyable smoke the Bolivar cubans he had, had been. We fired up a couple of the Churchills on our "smoke" night. His smile was enough to see that they fond memories were returning. A great looking cigar, well made. The full bodied clouds of smoke swirled around us as we considered that the Cubans don't have the market cornered on fine smokes. A fabulous cigar. Full-flavored, full-bodied, well made, terrific draw. Definitely a great choice for the humidor.”

“The Dominican (Bolivar) has always been a favorite of mine. Lovely to look at, to smell...good draw, firm ash, even burn and great flavour. I always keep a few of these in the box.”

“Bolivar...EXXXXCellente! I just got back from Bahia de Los Angeles (LA BAy to you GRingos) where 11 guys and my self fished and smoked our asses off. I brought the Gurka X fuerte and some little Brazilia's and a friend of mine brought the Big ol' Vegas 5 mouth full of chocolate. Note, when traveling 8 hour to a fishing camp in Mexico, don't leave the Xfuertes in the bag in back off the truck. The wrappers came apart but the damn thing was still good!!! There's almost nothing better than sitting by the beatiful Sea of Cortez with an excellent cigar, unlimted supply of Tecate, and listening to the funniest stories you would never tell within earshot of the wife and kids.”

“This is not a carbon copy of the Cuban original (Bolivar). The cigar looks formidable, but suffers from a slightly uneven, warm burn that is nonetheless slow and steady; the ash is firm and medium to dark grey. The cigar is complex, has a medium body with wood, toast, cocoa and sweet flavors throughout. A little aging improves it quite a bit.”

“I recently enjoyed Bolivar Lonsdale. Draw was a little tight to begin with, but it opened up as I smoked past an inch. The cigar tasted slightly of chocolate and had some woody undertones, first bit was a bit harsh, however it mellowed out as it burned. This is a good cigar enjoyed on a full stomach. Overall a good cigar with a fantastic full taste.”

“I am curious now about what Steve O thought about this stick. The Cuban Bolivar is a rare love for me, this has smoothness to it. It has a very fragrant bouquet and for the smoothness, packs a bit of a wallop. I just picked more up earlier today. A very civil stick, a nice dark oily ligero wrapper with a complex draw. My rate this stick: 87”

“Year after year this is just one of my favorite cigars! It is just a winner! Full flavor and yet does it with finesse and they get even better when aged.”
SB of Merced, CA
“I'm beginning to think the previous tasters that have posted reviews of this cigar are working for Bolivar. I'm a big fan of dark, oily, luscious smokes, and the Bolivar's look great. I have tried three times to smoke these sticks and I'm consistently let down by the uneven burn, hard draw and muddled taste. I've built them up to friends and handed a few out, and they came back to me and thought I was off my rocker stating that they were good. It's not just me folks, these are not the stogies for you. 5 Vegas "A", Gurkha Expedition, Montecristo Media Noche, Ashton Maduro and CAO maduro fit my taste when it comes to darker wrappers. Save your time and money and go for one of those! Long live CI and f*$# the anti-smoking police!”

“I thought id throw my 2 cents worth in reguarding the 2005 (Bolivar) today just happened to be a very warm day here in the midwest so after work I went out on my deck and fired up 5.5 50 tubos i purchased from CI, now while i agree thar the cuban Bolivar is a thing of beauty! I still think it's 2005 cousin is a pretty decent smoke I have lit up 4 of the 8 pack I bought and so far so good,,, nice even burn, good draw, a hint of sweet spice with a nutty tone, nothing fancy with a decent aroma I pulled it pretty far down and even twords the end very satisfying for a before dinner smoke.”

“No, I'm not a paid spokes-person for Bolivar, just a person who purchased a 5 pack of these on a hunch. For me, the gut feeling of buying these was a huge payoff in smoking pleasure. The burn was even all the way down, with volumes of smoke. In addition, it was an hour later before the cigar began to burn my fingers. I've only smoke one out of the 5 pack, and maybe the other 4 will give me problems as stated in a few other reviews. Nevertheless, as it stands right now this was a very satisfying, medium body, with each puff of smoke remaining smooth. If the ones I have left smoke anything like this one, there will be a box ordered in the future, and added with my rotation. My suggestion is to give the Bolivar a try and you be the judge. I ordered the Churchhills, which was just right for my taste and length of smoking time.”

“This is a first class cigar full of rich tobacco tase that is smooth as silk. It reminds me of a Cuban Cohiba Siglo VI in many ways, which go for over $500.00 dollars a box. In addition, the Bolivar has a slow burn time so make sure you allow yourself an hour after putting a burn on it. The cigar is a very satisfying smoke, and each puff is enjoyed from start to finish. After trying the 5 pack, this will be purchased by the box on a future order, added into my rotation. I stongly believe it is worth the purchase of a 5 pack to find out for yourself the quality construction, and very enjoyable cigar.”

“Nice box but I don't care too much for plastic tubes. This would be prefect for a huge humidor for display. I only smoke one so far so I really don't remember the outcome but it was a good smoking experience.”
FD of Gardena, CA
“purchased a box of 25......I've always loved the Bolivar brand.....Unfortunately, of the three I've burned, all three have been plugged and I've had to cut about 2 inches to get them to draw.....WOW.....what a disappointment!!!!”
MF of Huntington Beach, CA
“Really an outstanding taste I'm back to get me another box. This is a great stick to have with a tangy drink such as whiskey sour.”
JS of MAGNOLIA, TX
