I just started getting into the Blendlab the last few months and on a Buddy trip to the Hamburg store I took a guess on this smoke based solely on the fact I like torpedoes. I loved it. Drank two Guinness while enjoying the smoke. Full flavored but very light on the pepper. Very consistent, balanced and smooth. Great full flavor but not overbearing with a hint of cocoa. Very thick dense smoke, great draw and the ash remained very dense. Left with 10 sticks. This has become my favorite cigar.
Cigar tasted great, but after lighting it, the first half canoed. I let it go out and relit the extended side till it evened out. By the time it was burning nicely, I had about 2 inches left. I only bought 2 so I will see how the other one burns.
Just got a shipment in of several different blends so here is the first one ROTT. First impression is that it is a beautiful cigar. Dark torpedo, firm, feels well constructed. Wonderful pre-light aroma of tobacco and hay. Lit well and perfect draw. First puffs VERY strong and peppery. Huge strong blast of flavor on light-up. Very full and powerful for first bit, then started to slowly mellow out. Became more "medium" strength. Very classic Nicaraguan tobacco flavor with a hint of cocoa underneath. About 2/3 in cocoa gives way to a bit of hard-to-place very mild sweet-spicy aftertaste. This is one of the more reviewed BlendLab sticks on CI and, like many commentators, had burn issues. Needed several touch ups and, despite careful attention, needed one re-light. Last 25% or so got very strong again. If you smoke this one to the very end, you will definitely taste it again in the morning! I would say that about 40% of the cigar was very full and strong bodied while the rest was more medium Nicaraguan similar to some Oliva sticks I have had. Who knows, maybe this is an Oliva made cigar.
