An encore performance!
Originally a one-time production, Obsidian became so hot that Ernesto Padilla had to bring it back....albeit in limited quantities. Priced uber-sharp, Padilla Obsidian is a blockbuster maduro hailing from Nicaragua. Sporting coffee-black maduro wrappers, these big 6” x 54 belicoso-shaped vitolas are teeming with flavor. Hearty Honduran-grown Corojo tobaccos from the Jalapa Valley and black Nicaraguan-grown fillers from the fertile soils of Esteli bring a unique, earthy robustness while the Nicaraguan ligero leaf wrappers - ruddy in texture and oozing with oils - brings a distinctly toasty component with hints of coffee and touch of pepper on the finish. Medium-bodied.
All this for sub-$3 per stick? In a word: it’s enough to make grown men weep. Make that 7 words.
