I bought this for the AVOs but wasn't at all disappointed by the CAO Golds. It is a good pairing of similar cigars in terms of strength. The CAO Gold is one of the nicest smelling cigars I have smoked to date. AVO was already up there as one of my favorites. It is my "go to" when i want something milder but without losing taste.
Received an AVO for Christmas as a gift. It was a terrific, mild, creamy tasting cigar. I will definitely be buying more.
Of course 10 is better than 5 so I buy the Avo/Cao Sampler and consider the CAOs a freebie, and what a great freebie it is! CAO golds are always a nice sight to behold in my humidors and an all 'round great mild, yet full bodied smoke with ample, satisfying quality tobacco flavor. Of course there is no disputing that the AVO is the real prize here, delivering puff after puff of creamy deliciousness like no other. Sure, I buy this sampler for the Avos, but add CAO Gold on an Auto Ship rotation and I am most pleased.
If mild bodied cigars with an abundance of hearty flavor is your preference, this sampler is an absolute home run. Usually one half of such a sampler is a mere add-on or tag-along. But CAO GOLD is no tag-along, so you have a win-win combo and a real pleaser no matter which end you choose from. If my humidor has these two smokes in abundance I consider my cigar collection's foundation secure. That's why I have these auto-shipped regularly.
Great combination of easy burning and long ash cigars when your time is limited.
Purchased this set to see how the two compared against each other. Starting with the CAO the flavor was average not over the top. The AVO was great smoke, its smooth great draw a good everyday smoke. I allowed these to set and cure for 2 weeks before smoking. I would recommend it, it improved the CAO flavor a bit.
I wish I could sample one but it is backordered!
I am brand new to the cigar world and these were probably only the 5th and 6th cigars that I tried. I wanted to see if I could taste a difference between two different cigars with similar styles and I definitely could.
The CAO is rougher around the edges. It started getting a peppery tasted about halfway through the cigar. The AVO was smooth and easy. One of the first things that comes to mind was buttery. A strange adjective for a cigar for sure, but that is what came to mind. I will definitely buy more of the AVOs!
Both are very good mild cigars. This was my first AVO and I'll buy more the next time I want a mild cigar.
Great pairing of cigars here, CAO Gold and Avo Classic. The delight here is the CAO while the quality of the Avo propels is in a league of greatness all it's own. Both mild bodied, the CAO offers up a smooth, mellow body and a hearty flavor with a mild spiciness in every draw which is near perfect through and through. The AVO, also a milder bodied smoke, builds up a rich creaminess and flavor that becomes more delicious, never relinquishing the marvelous fine tobacco flavor this cigar is noted for. Two wonderful cigars, great 10-pack offer!
I had tried AVO and CAO before and knew this was a good deal for the price, the AVO classic is a nice cigar, easy draw, nice smoke to enjoy after work. The CAO is hit and miss for me, 4 of the 5 cigars were just ok because they varied in quality, the 5th CAO was very dry inside, very hard to draw compared to the other 4 CAO's I had and was hard to keep lit. As for the AVO it has a much better draw, and high quality, it is a bit milder than the CAO but a nicer, more enjoyable smoke.
