I LOVE this cigar and the flavor is GREAT! HOWEVER, lately I have been experiencing a LOT of draw problems with it. I purchase this smoke (Mostly the Magnifico) on a regular basis and out of the last 80 cigars I've lit, I've had maybe 5 that was an easy draw. The rest of 'em were too much of an effort to keep lit. Is anyone else out there experiencing this problem? CI, PLEASE tell someone at the factory about this! I'm getting more and more disappointed as time goes on as I haven't really been able to fully enjoy one in quite a while; it's also getting a little costly to toss the the better part of a box because of this problem.
Maximo Tubos (Partagas Black Label) should be in everyones Humidor. Iam a lone time cigar smoker and sure enjoy this one. Smoke 3-4 a week. Have afew other top brands but this is just great.
There like smoking a stack of maple pancakes. perfect draw all the way through.
NOW HERES A FULL BODIED KICK IN YOUR PANTS (Partagas Black Label) BLACK BEAUTY WITHOUT THE BITE ON YOUR TONGUE.RIGHT FROM FIRST LIGHT COMES GIANT PUFFY CLOUDS OF SMOKE. TIGHT GREY DENSE ASH,EVEN BURN WITH LOADS OF FLAVOR.NOT FOR THE MEEK BY ANY MEANS. BUT AS FULL BODIED STICKS GO ,THIS ONE IS WAY UP THERE.
The only, yes the only cigar I smoke & probably ever will ~ once I tried this cigar it feels so frightenly perfect. A special tip is to over humidify this cigar so it is incredibly moist ~ like a moist log on a fire. For example put a wet paper towel over the top layer in the box & let set a couple days so the cigars can absorb the moisture.
The burn is much slower & the aroma is much sweeter. Once I tried to really moisten these the aroma is much superior to a dry smoke that will be experienced if smoked out of the box. I've learned this is a beautiful way to extend the time of a smoke & improve the aroma ~ same concept of a moist piece of wood over a fire ~ your gonna get more sweet aroma than from a dried out log. Incredible masterpiece of an aroma ~ thank you Partagas 5 stars
The Partagas Black Label Magnifico is one of those cigars you smoke to celebrate something. The special Medio Tempo wrapper is positively delicious, and handsome in a dark, earthy rugged way. The singles I bought all functioned well. The strength is there - I doubt anyone would rate this as anything less than a "full strength" cigar, and that strength quadruples about 1/4" short of the band. However the strength and the Ligero taste are very smooth throughout the smoke and almost always the smoke volume is ample and rich. If you enjoy Maduro I think you will appreciate the extra care in this stick with its' delicious wrapper and excellent balance.
This is a wonderful cigar (Partagas Black Label). Beautiful oscuro wrapper. Smooth easy draw. Thick smoke that breaths quite effortlessly. Not to mention that taste with hints of chocolate and espresso. The initial smell hits you and you know this thing is going to be big, but this is one great cigar. Hats off to partagas.
To me, the Partagas Black Label Clasico cigar is the finest cigar I have ever smoked. It's full, rich, flavor is long lasting and powerful yet very, very smooth. Everyone I have given this cigar to becomes an instant convert, be they a newbie or longtime cigar smoker. I've been smoking for 20 years and it tastes like no other cigar that I know of and is currently the only one I smoke.
Frankly... I liked it (Partagas Black Label)...good smoke but it is overated. There are better cigars at lower prices. I like Partagas, I have smoked many of them, no complaints. Again I liked this one but it is over-rated. Sorry Partagas
This cigar is amazing (Partagas Black). Due to price I usually smoke the Prontos. I have given them to friends who are newbies & to guys who really know their smokes; all have been amazed! In fact, more than one have made it their favorite. It's in my rotation. Take your time & enjoy.
This the best cigar I have ever tried. I give it an A after you try one of these you will be hooked. I tried many other cigars but nothing can be compare to this. These are so good you want to eat them. Best of the best
A rich and very tasty smoke (Partagas Black Label). This cigar is a full flavored smoke with a well defined taste of leather and pepper. I'm surprised they don't give them a nicer box, they taste so good.
This is the one cigar that i always keep in my humidor (Partagas Black). Very consistent in taste; ive been smoking this one for three years and it hasnt changed a bit. pre light draw gives you a nice peppery zing. Great taste, very smooth and complex. be carefull though...its very potent! I smoke maduros all the time..i love full bodied but let me tell ya, this cigar seems not as strong as it looks at first but its the ONLY cigar that ever layed me out on the couch! Make sure you eat something or drink a glass of milk first ....whole milk no less ;)
I think all Partagas cigars are good, but the Black Clasico is the ne plus ultra. Plenty strong but without a single harsh note. Slow, even burn with an excellent draw. Even at the full retail price its not a particularly expensive cigar, but the CI prices are very attractive.
i cry every time i light up one of these, it's very emotional & beautiful. . . .thank you Partagas, thank you ~
The Partagas “Black” label is a cigar that made my cabinet of daily smokes some time ago. This is complex cigar of a singular character. It has that classic Honduran boldness… but smoothed out by a trademark Dominican sweetness and smooth character. I really love the taste of this stick it has a sultry aroma, and a sexy oily wrapper that begs to be cut and burned back. Bold in way – but its real call is a medium bodied cigar with a bolt of fuergo.. lol! I smoke the Pyramide it is a world-class smoke, truly. Moderately priced, it is worth every puff.
My rate this stick: 90
I have not smoked a cigar in years, and a friend of mine offered me one of these (Partagas Black) while I was at his place. I found it to be a full bodied cigar with a pleasing taste and an easy draw. Although I will try others cigars, I will continue to smoke Paratagas Black because of its taste, draw and looks.
The Partagas black label is a hands-down winner. Strong yet smooth, rich yet graceful. Like a good woman, you can take this with you to the outdoors or an elegant night out. Doesnt matter cause this one will shine in any situation. Props Partagas. Major props.
I first tried one (Partagas Black) about a year ago, I bought a box that was on special, (wish I had bought 1 more boxes)boy I did not know what I was in for. I tried one about month after I bought them. This is one cigar, the only one, that I almost did not smoke because it so powerful. But it mellowed out. It has a unique aroma, perfect construction, ash is firm and white almost, I never had an issue with any of them. The draw is easy with volumes of smoke, just the way I like a cigar. Do yourself a favor and save some money, this is the powerhouse you have been searching for, it satisfies everytime, all the time. Hey compare the cost of this to the other Partagas, or an Opus X.
I've been smoking cigars about 6 years now and this is the one of a few kinds of cigars that I always keep in my humidor. This(Bravo size of Partagas Black) used to be my go-to cigar for some time.It is not super complex smoke by all means, but it's got what I usually look for in cigars.A rich,semi-sweet chocolatey flaver with some peppers and some salt.A slow burn and an easy draw.I hope CI will do Joe's one day deal of these soon! I will be all over it..!
Partagas Black-Classico is one heckuva a cigar,1-Hour of pure heaven, try one you'll like it.
I've been hooked on these (Partagas Black) ever since I decied to blindly purchase a box about 4-5 years ago maybe more. I've been buying a box now and then ever since. I'd like to keep a supply of them on hand but I can't seem to keep them in stock. I have a new box on the way as we speak. No other cigar can rival the full flavor and smoothness of this line.
This cigar has very strong in flavor. Plenty of leather, spice and maduro caramelization. The tobacco content seems rather high (I could feel more of a buzz). This must be from the filler as the wrapper seems a little thin and is probably not ligero. The aroma was great. It was one of the more salty cigars I have smoked. Its if the roller's sweat was rolled into the cigar.
However this cigar goes out very quickly and has some serious draw problems. Have a lighter on hand because you'll need to re-light often.
What a tempting cigar to try (Partagas Black Label)! Great name and a dark rich wrap that leaves your mouth watering if you love full flavored maduros. Not to mention that this make has many positive reviews. I tried the smaller pronto tin of six as I do with most brands to get a taste of what the maker has to offer. As stated earlier, Partagas is a well trusted name in the business and their creation looks beautiful. Upon lighting, I was displeased to see the cigar burn unevenly and hot. The hotness was due to the filler burning beneath the wrap and really distroying the great flavor of the smooth tasting tobacco. This has happened on three different occasions despite being cured properly in my humidor. My palate has a hard time recovering from the harsh ashtray aftertaste left after the cigar evens out. I truly like the deep, rich maduro flavor with a hint of spice, but this little guy burns horrible. I recommend trying some larger gauges in 5 packs before investing in this line from Partagas.
Great smoke with good flavor but the draw just about laid me out. I had to shove a golf tee through the cap several times to get a draw. Hopfully some time in the humi will fix that.
I tried one of the (Partagas Black Label) maximo tubes and was completely surprised at how it starts out sooo spicy/peppery and mellows out towards the middle of the stick. A great cigar
I need to echo some of the same sentiments as already being expressed. First of all the cigar is a beauty, and feels great in the hand. It has a very nice first aroma and a nice flavor from the get go. Mine also did have draw problems. I thought it might have been because I just did add some demin to my humidor a few days before and the readings were a bit high, but none of my other recent smokes have been coming across as too moist. I huffed through it (good slow burner) and really enjoyed the rich flavors, but wished I wasn't having to pull so hard on the draw.
I love a good dark cigar, but this one was too much for me. She's a powerhouse so be ready. Heavy, oily, strong, and tight on the draw. Better have your big boy pants on for this one!
This cigar came to me as part of a Maduro Sampler. Outstanding cigar from beginning to end!. The only cigar out of the group I made sure I bought a box of.
got mine in a five pack, finally took one out after about a week or so and damned near wore myself out trying to draw on it i even poked it,but i finally gave up and threw away about 2 thirds of it. i have sequestered the other four for awhile'and i will check back in a couple of months.
Partagas are my favorite cigar hands down , while this one tasted fine it was like trying to drink from a broken straw. lots of effort for little smoke. I only bought 5 but all were this way. Im gonna just spend a bit more and get a red label.
I have been smoking Partagas Black for a while now. The line has become my cigar of choice. This is a full-bodied cigar with a great draw and a nice oily finish. During my free time I choose the Maximo and when my time is limited between clients or after lunch I choose the Bravo
This is what fine cigars are all about. A beautifully crafted cigar that smokes cool and long and burns perfectly, yet loaded with flavor.
The best cigar I have ever smoked. Thats all I can say.
i love this one. nice peppery flavour. smoothe even draw, and very potent. if you have a couple hours to kill, i recommend this cigar!!!
I picked up one of these because of the multitude of comments around the web referring to Partagas as chocolatey, etc. It just sounded so enticing based on description. I have to say I was definitely disappointed. I can't deny the truth that this is no doubt a unique and full bodied cigar. Very strong, and unlike any other I have yet to smoke. It was alot of work with this one, lots of hard puffing. And there is no doubt in my mind that start to finish the flavor was one thing and one thing only - Peat Moss. If you want to smoke peat moss rolled up, this is your cigar. Not my thing. Smelled like moss, tasted like moss, and was a troublesome thing to keep lit, like fresh moist moss would be. Very, very earthy. For me, there are things I like to smell as far as smoke, like campfire, barbeque, and lots of different cigar smells. And then there is a world of other things that I like to taste in a cigar, as well as things I never want to taste. Moss is one of them, and this is just about as mossy as a cigar can get.
Could definitely be a cigar that would benefit from resting and mellowing, but I can't say anything about that as I didn't do it.
I am fortunate enough to be in driving distance of the CI Super Store in Pa. On the way back from a gun show in Allentown this weekend, I stopped in to look around. I picked up a few maduros and the Partagas 1846 Black Label was one of them. After a devine homemade Italian spaghetti dinner, I went out to the deck with a glass of Merlot and lit it up. Outstanding !
It is quite bold at first, but it quickly melted into a very smooth and mellow smoke. The ash is crisp and gray and it burns very evenly.
The wrapper is dark, firm and leathery. And, when smoked, it doesn't leave a bite on the tongue. It is one of the few cigars I've smoked down to the nub ! Even my wife commented on the cigars pleasing aroma !
A great cigar and as always, the great CI staff - a true winning combination !
Love the comments about this cigar. One of my very favorites and had to laugh at the review that said tasted like Peat Moss. Not to me... pure heaven. Others said it well... pair with a good Scotch or microbrew, sit back and relax. Every stick has had a great burn, consistent quality. Rich smoke, long ash, and fine taste. Slightly sweet, deep chocolate tones, and great earthy tobacco flavors. I classify this as a medium-full. I thought the Perdomo Champagne Noir was fuller - that set me back. But if you smoke this too fast, you had better be sitting - with that Scotch of course.
Pair a Partagas Black Classico with a good single malt scotch, and it's a great day. Full of flavor and easy draw make for an awsome smoke that won't drain your wallet. And when time is tight Prontos are a great way to spend 20 minutes.
I see alot of draw problems mentioned. Im stuck on the Gigante, no problems with draw, an absolute joy of a smoke, maybe the big ring helps. But not a smoke for the faint of heart, better be sitting when you light this one up!
Just smoked one. CI gives this a 90 rating...too low. Wonderful wonderful flavors, excellent construction. I cannot believe these are so cheap. Don't judge this cigar by its price, I'd say these are easily worth 12 or 13 each, not the 6 or 7 they individually sell for. Give it a shot, try it and you'll love it too.
Absolutly love this cigar. There are others that I buy in ones or twos but this is the ONLY one that I buy by the box.
MAN-OH-MAN Do I love this cigar! I am smoking the 6x60 and boy I sure don't want to sit her down at all, but I have to refill my Brandy glass,
What a wonderful cigar, just about perfect all around smoke. The apperance is strikingly beautiful. Super black in color, oily wrapper with just a little tooth to it. Even burn from start to finish. Burn time for the toro was an hour and half, and the wrapper was so rich with oil my fingers actually became slightly sticky. I think this was a little less than full but definitely not medium. Wonderful flavor with nice white smoke and ash. Not complex in my opinion but balanced all over. Highly recommended cigar and I will have them in my humidor.
A good 'kick in your pants' cigar, I like the Prontos for a quick, hearty smoke. The bigger sizes seem to just be too overpowering.
Okay. I'm hooked. I've smoked 4 so far, will get a box. For those who complain about the tight draw, roll it firmly between your palms. That loosens it just right. The flavor is rich, of a deep, dark chocolate and espresso mixture. The wrapper is supple, to the point you can rip off part of the wrapper, crumple it up and straighten it out again. It won't crack, flake or crumble. We all love an oily wrapper with a nice sheen. On this, the resin actually beaded up into tiny droplets that you can wipe off with your finger. Now smell your finger, it smells like a dark bittersweet chocolate. For a full body, nothing has surpassed this beauty. Thick skin, a solid cap that can stand up to a punch and not cave in. Superb workmanship, giving a completely even burn and a tight, white ash. Billows of sweet smoke greet you from the first puff down to your burnt fingers.
I've wanted to try Partigas Black Label for a while, and I'm glad I did. I first purchased a sampler with them and loved them so much a few days later I purchased a case of them. Gentlemen this a genuine cigar.
I've tried these when first introduced, off and on for 7 to 8 months, buying 5 at a time. It is a great tasting cigar, but very inconsistent. I never knew, if the draw would be normal or difficult. Also, the burn was a hit or miss. Sometimes just great, other times, it either canoed or burnt down to a nasty plug. I've since moved on. There are many other premium brands out there that deliver the consistency you pay for.
I smoked one literally minutes ago and was severely disappointed. It looked great but the draw was incredibly tight. So tight that I can't even tell you what it tasted like. I spent my whole time trying to loosen it up but it didn't work. I ended up throwing half of it away.
I am down to my last Partagas Black Label Gigante out of a box of twenty. I really like the flavor of this cigar but in my opinion they aren't worth the trouble. Out of twenty cigars only four had a draw that allowed me to appreciate the flavor. Smoking most of these was like trying to suck a golf ball through ten feet of garden hose. I doubt that I will buy them again.
Half of these cigars I smoked had an extremely difficult draw rendering them unsmokeable. I enjoyed the remaining cigars very much. They make lots of smoke and have a smooth flavor.
I've smoked around 100 of these and never had a draw problem. I smoke the gigantes and the crystal tubos. I love these cigars! Very flavorful and nice with little bite. I don't find them to strong, their just right. Partagas have always been my go to cigar, just love them, always in my rotation!
Completely unique cigar. A flavor which can best be described as dark. It is a good smoke, but will surprise you with its flavor. A little bit harsh but it calms down as it burns. A couple months in the humidor does this cigar right!
I've enjoyed the Black Labels for a long time. If you like a full cigar with plenty of smoke, they are a good choice. I must warn, however, if you are looking for a small cigar, I have tried the prontos and puritos, and the draw can be very hit or miss. I recently purchased a brick of the puritos, and am on the third tin and only one cigar has been smokable. Other bricks have been fine. The larger sizes, though, are always an excellent choice! The smaller sizes are also excellent - if you're the gambling type.
A beautiful cigar! My new favorite cigar. Great draw, puts off good smoke. Has a great chocolate leather taste. I smoked the maximo.
Review date 10/28/14 - This was the 1st full-flavored cigar I ever tried. (And I'm enjoying one as I write this.) It was at the recommendation of an aficionado in a big cigar store in NC. Being a newbie, I asked about full flavor and he said, "Give this one a sniff." I pulled it out of the tube and marveled at the deep, peppered espresso-like aroma. I only smoke these periodically because they command so much attention. Meaning, you don't really smoke this cigar mindlessly. It is a powerful aesthetic experience. Haven't yet put any down for a nap, but I may before long. Larger gauge does smoke more easily. And it is, as some have stated, a damn fine accompaniment to your whiskey.
A dark, delicious treat! Amazing maduro flavor and an almost meaty quality. Worth every penny. I have gotten the occasional sour stick, but they could be more due to where I purchased them vs. the quality of the cigar. Great great stick. Should always keep a couple on hand.
DS is right. They require too many re-lightings, and I've even considered poking a wire the length of the cigar to make it draw easier. However, the flavor is great. I read the CI review and enjoyed it. However, my response is much simpler: the flavor is great! I'm sure there are all the nuances he mentions, but from my very simple viewpoint, the flavor is great.
Awesome cigar, love the rich oily wrapper, my new favorite!!!
This a bold powerhouse cigar that is truly a full-bodied smoke. It has a tons of complex flavors and a proximate maple syrup sweetness. This is a maduro that puts all others on notice.
As my friend who introduced me to Partagas Black said, they have "a delightfully fecal quality." These taste like dark rich earth. Some of my favorites. The piramides are a fun shape to smoke.
3/5 = Average. The dark oscuro wrapper was very attractive, but this cigar fell short in flavor. Completely medium, not med-full+ Could have been a bad sample, but not going back for another run.
The one and ONLY cigar that makes me have to just sit on the couch after I smoke it... Strong, but very flavorful, easy on the eyes as well, very well constructed.
What can you even say about Partagas Blackies that has not already been said? They are consistently awesome!
Good, clean full-bodied smoke. Always rolled right to produce a perfect ash. They even taste good after you set them down, let them go out, and come back awhile later for a re-light!
Without a doubt my favorite smoke. Everytime I try a "substitute", I am always disappointed!
I AM a Partagas Black man!
VERY NICE BOX OF TINS...EXCELLENT TASTE AND SMOKE..FULL FLAVOR...WILL KEEP BUYING..THANX CI
Prontos over the past year have had the consistency of draw & quality drop way off. I love the rich taste of these little cigars but have to throw every 6th one away as I don't want cramps in my cheeks trying to draw on it.
Many of them also unravel after being clipped....
A while back I was searching for a cigarillo that had the full flavor that a large ring stick offers. After several disappointment, I discovered the Partagas Black Pronto. My search ended there!! These little beauties have everything I was looking for, flavor, punch(be careful) and a nice even burn. When I don't have the time for a full size cigar the Partagas Black Pronto and Cohiba Black Dot Pequenos fill the bill!!
Partagas quality wrapped in a smaller package. This is by far the best jr size cigar I have ever enjoyed. These cigars have almost as much body as the larger partagas black label cigars, and thanks to their small size , these cigars are perfect for a short half hour smoke session.
One of the best cigars on the market a (spiritual awakening of your senses), a marvel, a Partagas! Thanks CI.
If you like a full cigar, packs a punch, and is a great price, you'll love this one!
