I received the RP Decade in the CI Cigar of the Month shipment and after letting it sleep for a few days in the humidor, broke it out with a fine single malt whiskey.
The Rocky Patel Decade may just be the best cigar I have ever experienced! The 95 rating it received from Cigar Aficionado was fully justified.
Wonderful draw, well balance flavor. I tasted hints of coffee, chocolate, and a tiny bit of spice! Highly recommend.
I LOVE ROCKY PATEL DECADES!!!!!!
THIS (torpedo) is what a cigar should be! Exceptional. Rocky is a cigar God!
I don't always smoke cigars, but when I do... I smoke Decades. Stay lit my friends.
IMHO, this is the best Rocky Patel I have smoked. I don't normally like Medium bodied cigars, but the Decade was the exception. The mild start, earth cream, perfect balance, and the medium ending spice had me wanting to light up another one. I would recommend this cigar to anyone.
I started smoking RP about four years ago originally tried the vintage 90. I've enjoyed about 28 of Rocky's 30+ arsenal (including indian tabac) and the Decade is truly his finest blend. If there is a cigar deserving 95+ rating this is it.
I had a buddy give me one of these exquisite cigars!! The taste was excellent and the aroma when I pulled in on this cigar was almost like having a ladys perfume ease onto the scene and tickle my nostrils. Another great piece by Rocky Patel.
a favorite cigar of mine that is housed in my humidor. Talking about flavor and taste wow, Folks you got to try this cigar.
Just about everything That Rocky has created i like.
What a GREAT cigar. Had one while sitting on the beach, even with high winds it burned slowly and evenly. One of the best cigars I have ever smoked.
Without question, one of my favorite smokes... there is never a bad time to light up one of Rocky's Decades. One of our fellow cigar-smokers from Casa Grande, AZ wrote another review suggesting that this cigar goes well with single-malts... well I like Decades... and I like Single Malt Scotch... but this cigar deserves a healthy cup of strong coffee. Sure, take a VSG, an Opus, an Edge or the like and pour a couple drams of a nice peaty, Islay Scotch and you will have something special... but light up one of Rocky's Decades with some nice coffee and you will have something divine. What a fantastic experience.
The Decade is a really nice smoke. I would suppose it earns that 95 rating. They are smooth and strong without being bitter and harsh. It seems that Rocky gets it right again.
A fine cigar, with enough flavor to please many smokers. I was fortunate to receive one of these in a sampler, which will lead to a box purchase. As with the Diesel, and Fortres, the smoke is so smooth that you don't notice the strength until it hits your stomach.
Hands down the best cigar I've smoked yet. Great taste and draw throughout. I just wish they made it in a sixty like my other Rocky favorite, the 1992. Keep 'em comin'!.
First off, I am a huge fan of Rocky Patel and the cigars he puts out. I loved the decade, but what do you expect from a cigar company that consistently has cigars in a 90+ rating range. Smoked a torpedo and found it to be a little tough to draw and has been sitting in my humidor for well over a month. I will buy these again, and would recommend them to anyone and everyone.
I'm going to have to buck the love trend here on this cigar. I received two of them in a sampler and was expecting much much more. I didn't find it overly flavorful or unique. For the price point it's at this cigar should be special. I would take the LHC Core and/or LHC Oscuro Fuerte over this smoke ten times out of ten. Sorry Rocky........
This smoke packs a real punch with flavors of bourbon, oak wood, blackened pepper and mild hickory sweetness. A good companion to a spicy cajun dinner. The heaviest cigar I have smoked yet, and not for the mild hearted.
I tried to love this cigar, as I did the old world reserve everyone raves about but these dark oscuro and samutra wrappers are not my thing at all, very harsh and void of flavor for me. After finishing a 5 pack of these decades the greatest downfall is even when sucking on them like a calf to an utter they go out every 5 seconds! I did not enjoy these at all but others seem to so... I'll stick to what I like. To each his own, right?
I'm fairly new to cigars, so this is the first Rocky Patel I've ever smoked, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I've sampled quite a few cigars over the past few months and this is one of my favorites. The burn was nice and slow and the draw was very good. Also it was much smoother than I expected. I got the 5" x 50's in a combo pack with the My Fathers. I only wish I had a bigger stick. I will definitely order these again.
The only cigar I have ever felt the need to review on here. Bar none the best RP I have had the pleasure of lighting up. The best Rocky has put out there. Nothing more needs to be said.
Rocky Patel Decade is the best cigar I've ever had! Wow, the flavors of some kind of semi sweet cherry or black cherry mixed in with woodsy creamy notes is the best description I can come up with. Decades are better than any Padron cigar for WAY less money. Save your money and splurge on a box of these bad boys, you won't be disappointed! Peace.
Smooth, wonderful flavor, even burning, consistent. I like this cigar better than rated higher smokes. By far, this is my favorite cigar.
The Decade is by far my favorite Rocky Patel, and I like almost all of them. Medium body but really packs a lot of flavor. Nice draw and copious amounts of smoke. If you didn't like it the first time, try one again and I'll bet you change your mind.
This is one of my favorites, flawless construction, gobs of smoke, very smooth with a complex flavor profile. It's always consistent. You can't go wrong with this one, and with CI's prices this one is a no-brainer.
Very smooth cigar.... I have a hard time finding a good cigar and this is the best, finest cigar I have ever had.... I highly recommend to anyone who been wanting to try a cigar that's really good and it's worth the price....
Absolutely one of the best cigars I've ever had. Just smoked the second one I've ever had. I'm a big fan of Cohiba but I must admit, this is a must for any cigar smoker. I'll be buying a box when I get home. I'm in the military and I'll have a box waiting for me upon my return. These will be one of my "me only" stashes.... Great job Rocky Patel for creating this wonderful smoke. Deserves every bit of the 95 rating. Happy smokin'.
Lit one of the RP Decade robusto cigars up from the 92+ sampler pack (great deal) without knowing what I was getting myself into. I was impressed from the first puff all the way down to the nub. My wife kept asking me if I was ok because I was talking to the cigar while I was smoking it. It is a creamy blend with medium to full strength. I detect the black cherry notes and think it has a mild chocolate flavor. It is a truly delicious cigar and I would agree with other people's comments that it's one of the best cigars I've ever smoked. I bought the 5 pack and had a consistent experience and just invested in a box of the torpedoes. Every time I light one of them up, I feel like I have a religious experience. Simply divine!
Might just be the best cigar ive ever had, seriously. Great cigar, huge fan.
Love it best RP around. IMO.....
love them the best of all RPs.
O my I'm usually not a fan of dark cigars but this just blew my mind. I know I has a high rating and it's always talked about but I never expected it to be this good. I'll be buying more and spreading the word these are awsome very tasty
Wow best cigar I have had in years. 95 rating is to low I give it 98 if not 99 great. Full body hints of sweetness, coffee and spice and can keep going - just that good. I first got one as a gift then ordered a box and then another. Just that good. Pick up a box, so damn good.
got a fiver of these in a sampler. very nice balanced flavor. very nutty cigar. hints of wood and a nice sweetness to the tobacco. it got a little harsh sooner than i would have liked, about the last 1/3. would purchase again if on sale... i'm too cheap to buy cigars for 10$ a pop! 7/13/14
A wonderful smoke. I'm a fan of full bodied smokes, but these are amazing. Burning one right now. Ahhhh
Smoking this as I write, down to the last 3rd. Overall a pretty good stick with nice flavor. Started off fine but into the 2nd I've had to correct the burn twice. Little disappointed with that but still good flavor. I will get a few more and see how they burn.
Just finished my first Decade, and in my 60 decades this was the best cigar I have had; WILL NOT be my last!! Well done, RP.
Delish and as described. I got a pack of 5 robustos with a combo and my friends and I enjoyed them all. The only burn problems I had were when I got distracted or when I didn't let them dry-box or air out long enough after a few weeks in my 68 RH humi. I usually will transfer to a 60 RH tubo or Herfador for a few hours/day or let a stogie sit out for a half hour or so depending on weather..I find most cigars burn unevenly when they're above 65 as the fillers absorb more humidity than the wrapper and somewhat unevenly so not RP's or CI's fault, just my storage process and pre-smoke prep ritual not being followed to my own satisfaction.
The only real complaint was that I found the robusto burning too hot for my gums and tongue after the first third or so. I was probably puffing a little too much, but tried to pace myself and left the ash on as long as I could. Definitely going to experiment with the ones left and buy a few toro, torpedo or other longer/fatter vitolas in this blend.
Well as I'm sitting here smoking a decade, I gotta say this: they are great. The first few I had were downright dreadful, but it must have been a bad batch because this cigar is fantastic! Not my favorite Rocky, but without a doubt a good cigar. 8/10.
I cannot believe a Honduran cigar could taste this good. I smoke mostly Nicaraguan cigars and love Diesel Unholy and Unlimited Maduro, but I must say these are great cigars -- even though I have not liked several other RP cigars I tried before.
In my opinion this is one of RP best. I can't find anything wrong to say about it. It's everything in a cigar I love. The strength and smoothness is there from start to finish along the sharp burn with a firm ash. This is a stick I'll be keeping in my regular rotation. You just can't go wrong.
Got these in the top 25 sampler. This is a very nice cigar, lots and lots of delicious smoke, pretty strong, burned for an hour. Give 'em a try.
If you have the extra green, wow, these are great cigars.
Hands down one of my favorite cigars. First third is ok, but the second and third is where it pulls at my heart strings.
Love the Decade. Medium bodied, flavorful and smooth.
