'Tis the season for Oliva.
What happens when the Oliva family takes the best yield, from all their fields, from the same year? Amazing things....amazing things dubbed Saison by Oliva.
Saison by Oliva is the latest addition to their growing arsenal of standout Nicaraguan handmades. To create this blend, a silky, dark brown Ecuadorian Habano wrapper was paired with a rich combination of long-fillers from Oliva’s farms in Somoto, Esteli, and Condega, Nicaragua - all harvested in the same crop year. This vintage ensemble is ripe with flavor, delivering a big, booming Nicaraguan personality that’s notably refined and well-balanced. Notes of leather, oak, pepper, earth, coffee, and a slight twang on the finish offer a perfect interplay and coat the palate with proficiency. It’s medium to full-bodied at its peak, but the density of flavor can hold its own against even the fullest of them. In a nutshell, this new handmade from Oliva has charm, character, and ample flavor. Plus, it’s yours in a box for around $4 apiece every day.
“Off the truck, it had a barnyard-like aroma, but opened with an initial blast of pepper eventually mellowing into leather and oak. Past the first inch the cigar opened up and became more balanced with the noted flavors with an earthy aftertaste. If your a huge Oliva fan you will sincerely enjoy the experience and is a worthy stick to keep in the humi.”ND of Greensburg, PA
“Just ordered a box of the Toros, mainly for the MB3s they came bundled with, and curiosity. I'm an Oliva fan and have yet to smoke one I don't like. It will take a few more before I have fully formed my opinion on them, but here's my first impressions. First draw was quite floral with some bitterness at the end. I've never really smoked a newly released cigar like this before, but I've read plenty of reviews referring to sticks being too fresh. I now understand that phrase a bit better. While there is certainly a depth of flavors to this one (floral, grassiness, cedar), it just seems a bit too fresh. That freshness (along with some bitterness in the first third) detract from the overall smoke. Not the best Oliva, but I imagine with some age it might stand alongside its siblings.”AC of GRAY, TN
“I was pleased when I received my deal of 10 Saison torpedos. Everything about these cigars shouted, 'excellent product' from the high quality embossed glossy ring to the rich, oily wrapper, to the flavor. Peppery flavors with somewhat metallic notes. The wrapper offered a hint of sweetness as it burned down. Long, pleasant finish with a somewhat sweeter aftertaste. Not for smoking on a walk, in the wind; this one's special. Burn one with a friend so you can compare notes. There's a lot there!”PE of Canton, MI
“Bought a box, as it included the 10 stick Oliva sampler. It proved hard to turn down. Was not expecting much with this cigar, but figured it can't be that bad if it was from Oliva. Needless to say, I was impressed. Medium bodied cigar that smoked evenly (tried one the first day i got them) with a slightly tighter than average draw, but not too tight at all. Subsequent smokes have been great. The only thing I think Oliva did to save money was to not use their standard embossed cigar band, this one is flat and had a thick shiny coating and the box is kinda basic, but I can live without the fancy stuff you don't end up smoking! I think this is my new "go to" cigar when I don't want to drop a ton on a cigar.”KF of TALKAHASSEE, FL
“Although I think the quality of Oliva has deteriorated because they are producing so many cigars, I thought this was a very good mid- level stick. Plenty of body, very woodsy, and consistent to the end. Other than the MIII, this is the only Oliva that I am buying these days.”CT of WADSWORTH, OH
“Oliva has another winner. The Saison is a anytime of the day, very enjoyable stick. Great value.”VB of SAN FRANCISCO, CA
“One really tastes a variety of spices as the cigar burns to the nub.”MK of Waianae, HI

“Oliva V is all I smoke. I wanted to give the Saison a shot and I was impressed. Not as strong as a V but a very satisfying cigar.”MS of Summit, MS
“This is my first review of a cigar and I've been moved to write it because the Oliva Saison is that good. The burn is perfect, leaving a solid ash that will stay for about two inches. The construction fantastic with a nice firm draw and the flavor oh, so satisfying. There's a subtle sweetness to this cigar which lasts all the way through the nub. Almost burnt my fingers smoking this one! And lastly, the value can't be beat. You won't regret picking this one up.”RW of SAN RAFAEL, CA
