Remember the 90-rated Padilla Habano? You should, the cigar was straight up legit, and if you ask me was hands down one of Ernesto's finest creations. Now the new face of Padilla Habano has arrived, the Reserva. Imagine for a moment all the goodness of Padilla Habano, but on steroids. Yeah, that's about right.
Hailing from the Oliva factory in Esteli, Nicaragua, the Reserva Habano is top-notch across the board. Firm in the hand, and chock full of tobacco, this one has all the bases covered. Medium to full in body, expect billowy smoke to unveil a nutty and creamy character that perfectly mingles with a rich Cuban-esque tobacco core. As the burn progresses, hints of gentle spice, pepper, and hearty cedar also enter the fray. Enjoyable puff after puff, the real credit here belongs to the blend at hand. Greeting you from the outside, a feisty Cuban-seed Ecuadorian wrapper, reddish-brown in color. Just beneath this leaf, awaits an all-Nicaraguan cast of aged long-fillers hailing from the super-fertile regions of Jalapa, Condega, and Esteli. If the Reserva Habano is just a glimpse into what awaits from Padilla, great things are on the horizon.
