Pinar del Rio is made in a smaller factory in the Dominican Republic. But unlike many of the neighboring factories, PDR cigars are loaded with flavor and boutique charm.
The Habano Sun Grown utilizes an oily, reddish-brown Habano Sun Grown wrapper from the Dominican Republic. Within, a rich Criollo '98 binder from the Dominican and a bold blend of Nicaraguan and Dominican long-fillers. The result is a full-bodied smoke that's complex, refined, and layered with rich notes of earth, spices, cedar, coffee, and a hint of pepper on the finish.
PDR makes a lot of underrated and underpriced cigars. The sun grown in terms of flavor should easily be rated in the 90's. Rich, smooth, a little spice. The wrappers don't always hold up the greatest but it's a fantastic cigar.
