This is the fifth go ‘round for E.P. Carrillo’s Short Run series, and if you’ve been paying close attention, you’ll remember that these limited release lovelies are new spins on old favorites and are offered for a miniscule amount of time. The 2014 version puts INCH on center stage, but with a smidge of a makeover – for this concoction, corojo tobacco leaves have been incorporated into both the wrapper and the filler, which is a first for the E.P. Carrillo camp. Is it good? In short, the answer would be: hell yes.
A bevy of bold flavors awaits, with distinct undertones of wood and a hint of sweetness. A filler blend of Nicaraguan and Dominican long leaves is hugged by a Dominican Corojo ’06 wrapper and a Nicaraguan Corojo ’99 binder for a taste that’s positively exquisite. Available here in the super chunky 5.9"x60 size. With a medium to full body and an excellent burn, I’ve no doubts that this is going to be a smash hit. But with a release slotted at just 1,500 boxes, it ain’t gonna be around for long. Get it while it’s still here.
