Nestor Plasencia. A name you've no doubt heard before, and with good reason. When it comes to tobacco, the guy does it all. From growing and harvesting, to rolling some of the world's finest cigars, and everything in between - his resume is among the most elite. And having created brands for the likes of Rocky Patel and Alec Bradley, he is always at the top of his game. But now, he takes his craft to a whole new level. Enter Plasencia Reserva 1898.
In the world of cigars, 2nd place is merely the first loser, which is why Nestor pulled out all the stops to create the Reserva 1898. Only the finest, smallest allotments of tobacco were used to create each cigar. Patiently aged, fermented, and carefully rolled into one tight package, the 1898 is a medium-bodied gem brimming with big-time character. On the outside you'll find a feisty Corojo wrapper leaf from the uber-fertile region of Jalapa. Tucked just beneath this leaf awaits the complementary core, all 5-year aged long-fillers hailing from Honduras and Nicaragua. Super-smooth like a finely aged scotch, the senses are greeted with a barrage of polished flavor. A toasty core leads the charge as notes of deep cedar, leather, and roasted nuts transcend on the palate. Scrumptious indeed, the Reserva 1898 is everything a boutique cigar should be. And the proof awaits in each smoke-filled puff.
