Old World Antique Humidor

“Just received this humidor. The humidor is quite nice, but the hygrometer that comes with it is absolutely worthless. Looking at the other reviews I see people raving that the humidor holds at a solid 70%. I cannot help but think that this misperception is because the useless hygrometer will stay precisely where you adjust it to regardless of actual relative humidity. Using salt calibration it was way off out of the box, so attempted to adjust it as I have many other analog hygrometers over the years. First off, the tiny screw slot is deep within the housing and covered with Loc-Tite or something. The screw is wholly unsupported so it moves all over the place. Eventually, with a lot of fiddling you can turn the needle. And there it will stay. Famous Smoke Shop sells this hygrometer separately (CI doesn't seem to), go to their site and read the reviews of it. If you order this humidor you had better order a replacement hygro as well.”

“Just got this at the beginning of the week, seasoned it up and loaded it yesterday. Man this is a pretty box, with a really good seal and outstanding design. Using it as a reserve humi for the smokes I want to settle and mature for a while, and after fiddling with this and getting it just right, I have high expectations. Upon reading some of the other reviews I didn't bother with the stock stuff and put an electronic humidifier in. I've already gotten a fair share of oohs and aahs from the guys I showed it to at the NOSC. One of them actually said that it was so pretty it might get him to start smoking cigars just so he has an excuse to own one!”

“Have had this humidor for about 5 months now, and it does hold a fairly steady humidity level. However, I am a calibration technician in the US Navy and I went to calibrate the analog hygrometer that was supplied with this humidor and it was in fact worthless. The adjustment screw is indeed held on with 'loctite' torque sealant, and the needle hardly moves even with drastic changes in humidity. Bottom line: Great humidor with a great look and does hold humidity well, but do yourself a favor and buy a digital thermometer/hygrometer! Overall, very pleased with this humidor!”

“This is a great humidor! I wanted a nice looking, quality humidor that had a high capacity. I got it in the Old World humidor. Great construction and great looks. It holds all of my cigars and keeps them nice and fresh. The only modification I made was I removed the analog hygrometer and installed a Humi-Care thermometer/hygrometer. I just peeled the magnet off the back of the analog and stuck it to the back of the Humi-Care. Looks great inside and provides more accurate readings. I would definitely recommend this humidor to others.”
