Rocky Patel Prohibition

Not trying this cigar is prohibited.

If you’re a fan of Rocky Patel, it’s likely that you already know he’s one of the industry’s biggest defenders, spending much of his time in Washington, DC fighting for the protection and rights of the premium cigar industry. So it’s natural that he’d want to send a message to the FDA with one of his new cigar releases. And he does it perfectly with the new Rocky Patel Prohibition. The message is far from subtle: the federal government’s ban on alcohol during Prohibition was a complete failure and the FDA’s attack on premium cigars will result in a similar outcome.

Gorgeously packaged in Rocky Patel-branded Mason jars inspired by the moonshine bootleggers of the Prohibition era, Rocky Patel Prohibition is much more than just a message to the FDA…it’s a damn good cigar. Handcrafted in Esteli, Nicaragua at Rocky’s Tavacusa factory, Prohibition comes available in two delicious wrapper options:

Connecticut Broadleaf Maduro:
rich and sweet with spicy nuances and notes of coffee, leather, dark chocolate, and molasses. Medium-bodied.

San Andres:
uses 100% binder and filler from Rocky’s farms. Sweet and earthy with notes of spices, cedar, chocolate, roasted nuts, and a long, toasty finish. Medium to full-bodied.

Rocky Patel Prohibition San Andres received a well-deserved 91-rating noting: "A toasty, bready smoke whose notes of cloves, black pepper and molasses combine for a zesty, sweet-and-spicy character overall."

Pretty good smoke
I'm not any afficianado, probably didn't even spell it right. But although my pallet is unrefined, this cigar was nice, it burned even, slow, and produced a rich robust aroma. A great dark cigar to celebrate with.

Sugar and Spice
For me, there was a heavy nose of pepper in these sticks (about a dozen smoked). At the half, I found the tones change to more coffee, leather, and nutmeg. An enjoyable smoke - especially if you are a sucker for gimmicks like I am. Construction could have been more consistent. And according to my wife, these sticks leave a heavy ammonia scent on my clothes, breath.

Monthly treat!
While more expensive than my normal buy I had to try them. Saved them and smoked one a month for, well 16 months. Looked forward to each one!

Great cigar
If you like Rocky Patel like I do this is a great smoke! I like the Rocky Patel Fire a little better, but I'd smoke this any day. Smooth draw, lots of smoke and great flavor. The packaging is awesome.

Nice bang for the buck.
While a bit harsher than I expected a nicely constructed, good burning cigar. I would only buy them again at the rock bottom price that I bought the last 40.
Customer Testimonials
Judging by these other reviews, I maybe swimming up stream; I thought they were good, but nothing close to great-- 86
Picked up one of each at my local B&M. I'm a fan of both the wrappers and Rocky Patel cigars so I gave them a shot. They sat in my humidor for about a month and grabbed both on a Sunday, making sure I had plenty of time to enjoy them. I started with the San Andres and, as usual for a Rocky cigar, awesome cigar from the taste to the construction. Another gem from Mr. Patel and crew. Later, I fired up the PA Broadleaf. Being an AJ fan I'm extremely familiar and slightly partial to this leaf. Rocky hit the nail on the head with this blend, too. Again, perfect construction with a very entertaining flavor profile, these two cigars are knockouts! Do yourself a favor and try these wonderful creations. You will enjoy every minute!
The Mexican wrapped cigar is wonderful. It starts off with loads of black pepper and chocolate. Then as you progress through this cigar it adds a toasted sweetness to the mix. A very complex and enjoyable smoke. I can't wait to try the Broadleaf; I'm sure it's just as good.
I haven't tried both, but the San Andreas version is amazing. Perhaps my favorite RP cigar of all time.
I went to an event the other night for this cigar and there is only one word to sum it up, WOW! This stick rivals Undercrown for its taste and smoothness. The burn is excellent! I had a second one a few minutes after I finished the first. One of the best sticks I've had all year!
