Torano Hogshead Sale

Hogs...what?

Look, I’m not here to argue the fine points of cigar naming, but I’m also not above serving up an impromptu history lesson. Plus, this one makes perfect sense. A hogshead, besides just being served on a silver platter with an apple in its mouth, is a large wooden barrel that tobacco or alcohol was transported and stored in back when great great grand pappy was still around. This not only made lugging product from place to place easier, it also allowed whatever was inside to marry and age. And now that I’m done playing professor, welcome the newest member of the Torano family: Hogshead. Just as the name implies, expect a well-balanced handmade equipped with ample flavor.

Torano Hogshead brings deep flavors in spades, thanks to a three country blend of Nicaraguan, Dominican, and Pennsylvanian filler leaves. This hearty, dense core is then met with a thick Brazilian Arapiraca wrapper leaf. The end result is a complex, rich display that’s slightly spicy, issuing notes of coffee, earth, and pepper. Medium to full-bodied, and brimming with rustic old school charm (check out the awesome burlap packaging), this one is going to make some waves in a jiffy. The highly enjoyable price tag is merely icing on the cake. Sweet, delicious icing….oh yes.

Light Draw
I have not had a bad smoke from any Hogs Heads. The draw is somewhat light but the taste is above average. Great smoke.

Tasteless
These Toranos must be young because not getting a hint of flavor from them.

Torino Hogshead
Consistently rolled, easy draw, and an even burn. They needed a trip through the humidor but well worth it.

Torano Hogshead Torpedo
There is something very pleasing about this cigar that I haven't quite been able to describe, even to myself. It smokes evenly, with a mild to medium body, and a steady burn. At first, it seems to be just a regular cigar - nothing very special - but after finishing it, I was surprised to think, "Damn! That was a good cigar". I like the color, it reminds me of new canvas, I like the solid construction and the shape. It's just a good smoke for a good day.

Bitter
not a very good smoke, kind of a dull, sour taste.

Not So Hot
The Torano Hogshead Robustos I bought were harsh and hot. They are loosely rolled and burn fast and hot. There was not much in the way of flavor other than a hot burned wood taste. Maybe if they sit in the humidor for a few months they will improve? I will not buy these again.

Hogshead Heaven
I loved these cigars, right out of the box. Very similar to some of the dry cured cigars that are out there. Nice smoke, earthy and even burn. I would definitely purchase these again.

Great deal.
Hogshead are good. My main concern is being dropped from the cigar of the month club with no explanation. You've heard this.

Good everyday smoke.
Cigar has moderate strength and taste. It's the type of smoke that makes you want to smoke a second one back to back.

One of my new favorites
The Hogshead Gordo goes in my book as a very enjoyable cigar. Med-strong and smooth all in one. Yea to Torano but please keep the price down where I can afford it...

Great smoke!
Great cigar for a great price! Although there can be subtle imperfections in the wrapper, the construction is good and the flavor is consistent. This is my second batch and just as great as the first!

Torano "Hogshead" Torpedo - Very Pleasant Surprise
This cigar is one great value! For the price it has been the surprise of the year - Mild smoke and a very nice mild spicy kind of leather taste. Outstanding value!!

Hog heaven!!
Fantastic medium cigar, wonderful aroma I am told. A fantastic smoke for just about any occasion. And for those who drive and smoke I can guarantee that it is a hundred mile stogie. Strongly suggest if you want a good smoke.

Like this cigar
Hogshead is a very good cigar. Smooth with a great flavor. The only disappointing thing is it burns very quickly. Usually i'm done in about 30 minutes. Wished it lasted longer.

Fantastic budget smoke
This is one of my go-to budget smokes. They taste very good, produce tons of smoke and the draw is smooth and easy. They are also well-crafted and I do not experience construction problems with them any more than I do cigars 2 to 3 times their price. In my opinion, the Hogshead's quality vs cost makes it the best value I've found.

Smooth and Full of Flavor
This is a great smooth and flavorful cigar. I smoked one from a sampler once and I haven't stopped ordering them ever since. Waiting for another Toraño special offer to order again, even though it's an affordable stick at regular prices. Don't make me wait much longer.

Love it.
By mistake I put two bundles in my cart and checked out. By the time I noticed my mistake they had already shipped. After smoking 6-10 of them in the last two months I couldn't be happier. Best mistake I have made in a long time. The name and Pennsylvania broadleaf caught my attention, as I'm not a Torano fan. Hogs head are well made and have a nice rich flavor. I'm going to save one bundle to age as I expect they will get much better with time. All in all a good cigar for the price.

Young Tobacco Needs Some Time in the Humidor
Torano makes good cigars, but they may have rushed this one a bit to keep the price low and get something new on the market. The cigar isn't flawless, but has good construction which draws and burns well. Placing the cut cap on my tongue yielded that bitter tinge which indicates tobacco is young and hasn't had a chance to lose all of its acidic qualities. The pre-light draw was good with a strong barn yard smell from the foot. The first and second thirds of the cigar were fairly uneventful with some earth and leather coming across. The last third went south pretty quickly. I smoke fairly quickly which sometimes leads up to nicotine build up, but the last third was bitter both in the mouth and on the retrohale. It ended up in the soup can not having been burned much beyond where the band had been prior to its removal. Having purchased a mazo, I am looking forward to letting this cigar sit through the winter and give it a try next spring. The PA broadleaf in the filler vs the wrapper attracted me to this cigar in the first place. With age, I think this will be a good blend.

A great smoke
they come in a burlap sack, but don't be fooled, this is a very pleasant smoke. I've shared them with the BOTL's at my B&M and we have all bought them. Nice spice on the nose, pleasant over mid tongue and a great finish on the back end. It is in my rotation. The nice price point helps. You need to give these a try.

Aways A Great Deal
I really like the email deals that come to me frequently. I almost always find my favorite cigars are a part of one of these deals at least once a month. If not, I have had a good result with the make a bid feature. Additionally, although the cigars I like are a major brand, no other cigar company seems to carry the variations that I prefer. Nice work CI.

Smoked my first one right away. Never been as surprised considering the price. This is a premium stogie if I've ever seen one. First class taste, superb construction and perfect burn. You can bet this will be an everyday smoke for me. Congrats CI.

Customer Testimonials
I have smoked many Torano cigars, most that I have smoked cost many more dollars than the Hogshead....but this is by far the best cigar I have smoked from Torano. Most of the line I find bland, I want to taste pure pleasure, I want a kick, THE KICK, and what some reviewers have described as harshness, I find to be refreshing, and good for my soul. GIVE ME MORE AND MORE....AND MORE... You are beginning to learn how to make fine cigars, Mr. Charlie Torano!!....Excellent idea on the packaging for the Hogshead, by the way.
No matter how many you buy you'll wish you had ordered more. One great value.
I'm a Padron guy, X000 series, but always looking for a good smoke. CI had a deal going so I grabbed a fiver. Fired one up upon arrival and did a double take. This is a kick butt smoke. Could not believe how good it is. We all taste different, but you really have to give these a try. It's a sleeper and most of you will fall in love. Don't miss out. WTG Torano!
Good blend and consistent from one mazo to the next, with excellent construction. Even burn, great draw. Only one plugged stick in 7 mazos.
Somewhat harsh. Not a whole lot of flavor development. I guess I was expecting more from this name brand manufacturer. It is what it is for the price. Consistently smooth draw though.
This was a nice surprise. Looks good and it's well made. Burned even and it's pretty darn tasty. This one is easy on the wallet, so when you get home you can smoke a couple of em. Don't expect it to replace those premiums that you might pull out for the weekend, but it is a great smoke for the money. You won't be disappointed for ordering a bundle or two.
These have the flavor profile that I associate with a high quality medium-full cigar. This is a good looking cigar with a perfect draw. The only complaint I have is that the ash doesn't hold long.... Still, these smokes are simply delicious and I just received a second bundle of these to hide away and age.
A pretty good smoke for the money, not a disappointment but not one of Torano's top tier offerings. I would put this in the same category as the Coliseum. If you are looking for a well made, great yard cigar, you'd be hard pressed to beat it for the price.... If you are going to spend a couple hours out on your lawn tractor or at your favorite fishing hole, take a couple Hogshead Gordos with you and have a nice day.
WOW. Just received 2 days ago and right out of the box, great smoke. These will not last in my humi long enough to see how good they could be. Just a nice med-full solid cigar.
okay folks, walk don't run to get your order in on these! Wow! This is by far the best inexpensive cigar I have smoked in years!, I am a daily smoker. Enjoying the likes of Tatuaje, Nuca Rustica, Liga, Padron and Ashton, just to name a few. I have smoked Torano cigars for years and love Charlies work. If you like a med-Full bodied cigar with lots of character that smokes like a champ get some!
