Torano Dominican Selection

Torano continues to impress me, and here’s yet another reason. Quick story, then I’ll jump right into the inevitably juicy, highly-discounted price.

Torano makes great cigars, that’s one fact you and I both know very well. They always have. But there was a time back in their younger years when their marketing and packaging just didn’t grab enough people, or the right people. So good cigars, really good blends, were missed and forgotten. It’s a sad story, but one that’s played out in this industry hundreds of times before. Fortunately, this one has a happy ending. Charlie Torano recently dusted off the family ‘bible of blends’ and uncovered a deep list of top-notch recipes. Timeless blends, all but forgotten, Charlie had an idea….and the Circa Series was born.

The first installment in the Circa Series, Dominican Selection, was a brand that hit the market in 1995 at the tail of the cigar boom in an ridiculously crowded market of sub-par handmades.  It just never stood out and the brand’s life was cut prematurely short. But the blend was delicious….still is….and now it’s back for a curtain call. Carefully crafted under the watchful eye of Charlie Torano, Dominican Selection employs a silky, dark brown Ecuadorian Connecticut wrapper leaf overtop a rich blend of aged Dominican long-fillers. Mild to medium in bodied, but layered with rich, complex nuances, each well-constructed handmade delivers a balanced array of cream, coffee, nuts, and black pepper. Add in a perfectly executed face lift and a massively discounted CI price and you’ve got a winner on all levels. It’s good, damn good, and it’s just the beginning.

One of my go-to golf cigars
This is one of my preferred cigars, not just on the golf course, but all the time. And you can't beat the price point. I like it!

I have tried many brands
I have tried many brands of cigars from C.I. and have liked most of them I've tried. There was a few brands I didn't like at all, but when I lit up the Torano Dominican it caressed my tastebuts like they never had before. It had a great draw, it had an evan burn, the ash was solid all the way down and it had the same great taste all the way down to the nub.You can count on me getting more of these beauties in the future.

awesome
these are my favorite. mild but tasty. burn very well. never go out. very consistent quality and build. for the price, why smoke anything else? anyone who doesn't try these doesn't know what they're missing. I highly recommend. But if you folks buy too many, they'll probably raise the price on me.

Uneven burn. A little spicy for my taste. Not for those that prefer mellow flavor.

Nope!
I got one of these in a sampler. It was not a pleasant smoke. Pretty devoid of any flavor. Terrible draw and burned very unevenly. The draw was so tight that I could barely get any smoke out of it. It had a very fragile ash that was very dark, dark grey...nearly black...and it dropped about every half inch or so. I tried to struggle through this one hoping that the second half might be a bit better...but I finally had to hang it up. I'm going to give it the benefit of the doubt and assume that I just got a bad one....but it literally left a bad taste in my mouth. It's going on the "NEVER AGAIN" list.

Great Front Nine Cigar
This beauty stays lit for all nine holes, whether on the green or in the cart. Nice even burn and mellow lingering taste. Great value for the money, and when they are on sale, they become my everyday smoke.

Well made - heavy on the cedar
I bought these for dog walking and they easily last the hour. Construction is very good for the price. I'm not a big fan of cedar and this is a pretty cedar-forward smoke, at least to my palette. I feel I got what I paid for, but probably won't buy again.

For a great everyday smoke at a price that wont break the bank this Torano will not disapoint.

A pleasant surprise
Great everyday cigar. The few that I've smoked so far have a pleasant mild-med flavor with an even burn. Hard to beat these stogies for the money.

Great cigar for the money
I smoke this cigar on the golf course and it holds up well. The taste is consistent and never bitter. You will not go wrong

A delicious and quality smoke
Nice even burn, good flavor, and good quality. A couple in the package burned a little uneven at the end and just a shade more bitter than I'd a liked, but overall a good buy.

Bundle of Torano quality
Good construction, nice draw, burns cool, consistent and distinctive flavor profile in an M-Med. There are better Eq-Conn wrapped cigars for 2-3X the price, and if you can afford them, buy them. But the TDS would be a worthy addition to your collection nonetheless.

I've never had a bad Torano.
I've had the Gordo's before the Torpedo's and to be honest I think I liked the Gordo's better. That being said bang for the buck, they both rock. These are my go to cigars.

Good value
Very good change of pace cigar. Size is awesome for big ring gauge lovers. Smooth mild medium smoke for the beginner of big ring gauge cigars and enjoyable for the seasoned smoker as well. Well made and good valu for the price. I would buy this again.

Torano Dominican Selection
I have a fondness for these vitolas. I just got my most recent bundle of these and put the flame to one of them. They are what a cigar is all about :)- The other 19 I will send to bed for a few months and enjoy in the springtime. Well worth the price.

what pleasant surprise!!!
I kind of bought these on impulse. Price was right. But boy what a pleasant surprise! This is a really great tasting smoke. I haven't enjoyed a new smoke this much in a long time. These right out of the package look like a first class smoke. CI you have sure fire winner with this one. Thanks again!

Great cigars
I enjoy the smooth smoke. However, some of the cigar wrappers may be a bit dry as they split open during a smoke. Does not detract from the excellent flavor.

Mild and Tasty
As always the Torano line is very well constructed. The first cigar was mild and a little light on flavor. the burn was consistent throughout and the draw was firm. If you don't like a tight draw you will be frustrated by this one. Did not have to touch up at all and the ash clings for 2 inches. After a month in the humidor the flavor profile emerged. Not strong but notes of cream and caramel throughout.

I love the creamy and smoothness of this cigar.
I must say this cigar was very surprising everything about it was very well structured and thought out I like the creaminess and smooth texture of the cigar and how the flavor last and stay the same all the way through I highly recommend this for people that like a good mild cigar.

Great cigars… slow shipping
Great cigar. Smooth and well constructed. On the mild side. CI just needs to speed up standard shipping like JR.

Totally Consistent-Cigar After Cigar
Like all Torano Dominican cigars, the Selection Robusto does not disappoint. What I most appreciate about Torano cigars is that they are consistent from one to another. Same draw, same burn, same taste and same satisfaction. No surprises and no disappointment. This is why I have stopped "experimenting" with new choices. Great value for the buck!

Should have found these long ago!!
Have you tried one of these? I love Torano everything, this is an absolutely daily enjoyment for me. I bought these on sale to try next. Have to say tough week, securities tests, flu bug and its friday. I grabbed a brandy, went to the patio with the dogs by myself. An hour and 15 minutes of heaven. You also need to try the LOYAL, another 5 star! THANK YOU!

Customer Testimonials
A wonderful morning cigar.
I received this jewel in a brown bag deal from CI. I really enjoyed this stick. Good draw, burned very even and creamy smoke. I was surprised when I looked it up for ordering purposes at the price. I am ordering some for my father as he has a light palette. All I can say is I really enjoyed this one.
Bought a bundle of 20 Torpedoes on special (thanks CI) and have been happy with them. Starts out a bit harsh, but mellows very quickly and gives you about an hour of pleasure. Finishes very nicely, spice and pepper. Very satisfied.
Got the Torpedoes on sale and tried them. All in all a great cigar. Well made, good burn, and finishes nice. Nice easy smoke, hope they go on sale again in the future.
I picked up a bundle of 20 Gordos (6" x 60) for just $39.99. An amazing deal. These smoke like $5 - $8-a-stick cigars. Very smooth, rich smoke. I've passed a few of these out to friends and family, and they're great for occasional cigar smokers; pleasant enough for them to enjoy, but nuanced enough for the dedicated smoker. The next time these go on sale, I'm buying at least two bundles, I wish I had bought two earlier.
This cigar is smooth and full of taste. Perfect balance of flavor and aroma. Very meaty and hardy. I am enjoying it to the nub.
