E.P. Carrillo Core Short Run '13

Journey to the core.

If you've been around cigars the last few years, then you know E.P. Carrillo dishes out more hits than a boy band in the 90's. And they aren't all smoke and mirrors either. Each cigar donning the E.P. name is a winner. A fact supported by a slew of 90+ ratings and a cult following to boot. Allow me to introduce E.P. Carrillo's newest hit, the Core Short Run '13.

On paper, the Core Short Run '13 sounds exactly like the original E.P. Carrillo. Nicaraguan and Dominican long-fillers, secured by a Nicaraguan binder and draped in an Ecuador Sumatra wrapper. But a closer look reveals a horse of a different color. By selecting rarer, more choice tobaccos from each plant, the difference is immediately evident. Flavorful, well-balanced, and a pleasure to burn, a greatly enhanced bouquet brimming with nuances greets the senses. Distinct notes of cedar, toast, coffee, and a tad of spices enter the fray as the smoke remains remarkably smooth. Whether you're a fan of the original E.P. Carrillo or not, there's plenty to get your juices flowing here.

I have had a box of E.P. Carrillo's short run since the first week of Apr. 2014. I smoked one the first day they arrived, It tasted like I was smoking straw. I left them to age for two weeks. The second one was better but still had a hint of smoking straw. After aging for a month, the third cigar had no straw flavor. Since then, the longer the short runs age the more I enjoy them. In summary. I am reviewing these cigars Aug. 11,2014. I find them enjoyable, but I do think they are pricy, and before I am finished smoking I they need a touch up.
