Placeres Reserva

Reserve a place in your humidor.

Nowadays, everyone seems to think they can make a good cigar. Sort of like the argument you have with a buddy who thinks he could have played pro sports if he 'really' wanted to. Yeah.....right. But luckily there are cigars like Placeres Reserva around to keep things real, son! This handmade is part of Compania Hondurena de Tabacos' new American cigar portfolio. A brand wildly popular in Europe, the company has since expanded its reach to the sunny shores of the greatest nation on earth. And I for one, welcome them with open arms.

Since its arrival, I've heard nothing but compliments for Placeres Reserva. A beautiful box-pressed cigar boasting a dark, oily Nicaraguan Habano wrapper and bold Nicaraguan and Honduran long-fillers. Upon lighting you're immediately met with hints of pepper, cocoa, spices, and a hint of sweetness along with a long lingering finish. It's easy to sink your teeth into this baby as the rich profile remains steadfast puff after puff. Now I know why these guys were so successful in Europe - legit product with legit performance. Bravo.

Smoked one in the Estrellas frontmark last night while tossing darts. Just not a lot to talk about here. The flavor gave off a nice toasted note when I picked up the cigar after letting it rest a minute. Other than that this was just an average medium-bodied cigar. I will smoke a few more to see if I'm missing something.
I'm amazed that these haven't gotten a slew of rave reviews. I think these are comparable to Rocky Patel 1990 and 1992. Rich and creamy, perfect with a cup of coffee.
