Customer Reviews of “Rocky Patel Olde World Reserve”
“"... Forgot to add... 3 inches or so of ash on a 5.5" stick(Rocky Patel Olde World Reserve) and I have the pictures to prove it..."”
MP of Warwick , RI
“A friend of mine tossed me one of these(Rocky Patel Olde World Reserve) the other day. The day before I had just smoked my first RP Vintage and had fallen in love with a new fave... picking up this oily beaut and taking a smell, I knew I was in for a treat. The term "heavy in the hand" was made for this stogie. This is just a masterpiece. Complex, full flavored and just plain good. I felt a bit more classy with this smoke and a nice glass of JW Green Label on a warm October night. I bit expensive, I'll have to convince the wife to let me grab a box.”
MP of Warwick, RI
“The "Rocky Patel Olde World Reserve", 5x54.....Holy Crap! What a smoke. I have found a new entry into the humi, and its gonna have a long term lease. A winner! Now I need to order some more. Later.”
VB of San Francisco, CA
“To tell the tale of the R.P Olde World Reserve, one has to imagine your self, peering into the skilled growers of the pre-59 Cuban era, carefully pulling the different leaves and hand rolling those mythical creations, which have forever imprinted historical cigardom in the taste palates of the old school. Now in 2007, we can take that same mythical ride in real time with this rendition from Rocky Patel. With the classic smooth, effortless draw, the introduction to the smoking symphony begins in the tongue, and while you watch the cloud of smoke spread from your exhale, a rush of tobacco flavor churns within your senses --- and the rest of the ride is just as good, able to massage the worries of the day away and take you into a state of peace. This cigar is for serious smokers as well as the merry gent who wishes to celebrate something rare with an explosive shot of severe mellowness --- yet with a few bangs in between. This one may pinch the pocket, but the slight pinch felt doesn’t compare to the compensation it does for the soul. Have a good smoke! ”

“IMO, the best cigar ever made outside of Cuba. A perfect draw and burn. Clean aftertaste. Notes of chocolate and coffee in the Maduro and notes of cedar, spice, and leather in the Corojo. The Rocky Patel Olde Worlde Reserve is a masterpiece and a Hall of Fame cigar.”
EW of McLean, VA
“Beautiful, well-made cigar. (Rocky Patel Olde World Reserve) Plenty of strength ane flavour. The first one I smoked had a rather easy draw, but smoked slowly with an even burn. Top-notch blender, is Mr. Patel.”
MC of MLeesburg, VA
“LC - That is one powerful, emotional review! Well stated for a great cigar...and at a JAM price of around $4 bucks per, a steal of a deal for one of the worlds finest sticks. ”
RG of Discovery Bay, CA
“I am a huge Rocky fan. I have tried most of his line, Vintage 90,92,99/Connecticut/Sun Grown/Fusion/Nording/Edge/American Maket Selection. But the OWR is by far the best. The flavors are just incredible. To steal a quote from Kramer in Seinfeld "It's like a circus in your mouth". Totally worth the price. A great special event cigar or holiday cigar. I beg you to try this cigar, you wont be disappointed.”
PB of eastchester, NY
“I have smoked hundreds of different brands from cheapies to super-premiums and I can say with confidence that...ROCKY PATEL OLDE WORLD RESERVE COROJO IS THE BEST CIGAR I HAVE EVER SMOKED!”
JH of Folsom, CA
“The RP Olde World Reserve Corojo is the king of all cigars. If you have smoked one and do not agree with this statement...I will fight you...and that is no lie. I love this cigar more than anyone could possably love a human baby. With that said, for all you folks out there who have not smoked one of these bad lads, DON'T DO IT. Keep filling up your cart with whatever B grade smokes that float your boat and be happy. You might have a humi full of sticks you love and cherish. You might have a rotation that you are completely satisified with. Ignorance is bliss...Stay ignorant. Your life will be better that way. You have been warned. Once you partake in the Olde World Corojo you life will change. You will look at your well stocked, once greatly greatly loved collection of cigars...and you will cry. You will cry because all of those cigars now must given to friends or thrown in the trash to make room for the Olde World. THEY ARE THAT GOOD. Also, these things are pricey. If you are an average joe cigar smoker who works hard for his money, be prepared to turn to a life of petty crime to support your new Honduran love. You will have to make many major sacrifices. Light bill or Olde World. Mortgage or Olde World. Student loan or Olde World. Be prepared for all of this. I speak from experience. I had 100's of cigars that I loved dearly and a rotation that I thought was flawless. Most of them have been tossed into freezer bags and given away to friends whose taste buds have not been corrupted. This cigar does not fit into any rotation, It destroys rotations. Try this test, smoke Olde World Corojo (not maduro) one day then smoke "X" cigar the next day. The "X"cigar will get punted into the neighbors yard mid-light and you will begin vomiting. This is all true. Unfortunatley, these OW cigars will not be around forever. When they are gone, a graet saddness will fall upon this world.”

“Best damn cigar on this planet....Period !!!!!!!!!!!!! (Olde World Reserve) Any true cigar aficionado will truely love this beauty from Rocky Patel”
PG of Redwood City, CA
“Rocky is the top dog.His blends are some of the best Ive smoked.I have been smoking cigars for over 20 years.I favor a nice maduro. The wrapper and filler on the OWR Maduro is yummmy. His Vintage 1990 and the Fusion are very nice as well.I am waiting for CI to get Rockies new Fusion Maduro to try. While you still can get Brando's,Maduro Melee. These four cigars from 4 of the best blenders at the rock bottom best price you can not go wrong. You will thank me for this recommendation.Happy New Year Thank You CI and staff. Best wishes.”

“california mike here again to give you yet another reason to experience another Rocky maserpiece- the Old World Reserve (in my case the maduro but that doesnt mean i dont have another maduro and a corojo in the humi i got off i ci deal : ) if you have ever tried a Rocky before you will love it. perhaps the smoothest cigar i have ever had, the OWR is perhaps the best reason i can think of to nominate Rocky Patel for cigar knighthood. just call him SIR Rocky cause that is all you will probably be able to get out of your mouth due to your ear-to-ear smile you will keep for many a day. this baby is complex, subtle, leathery and oh so worth whatever cigar dealers put on the price tag. seriously, this smoke is james bond smooth- and the classic sean connery smooth not the beefed up bond you find these days. this cigar is like a great single malt scotch or a fine brandy- elegence like this cannot be rushed; taking the necessary time to age is of the upmost importance. Rocky if you are listening man let me tell you have set the bar a little higher with the OWR. please keep making great cigars and please continue to make higher end cigars for cigar fanatics like myself and others. you have a loyal following- we will pay for your cigars! so feel a little better with this 93 rating and know that whenever people like myself speak of cigars, the name Patel will be spoken of with the utmost respect. ; )”

“unbelievable (Rocky Patel Olde World Reserve). like nothing you have ever smoked .”
RC of boston, MA
“Rocky Patel knows how to make incredible blends; my favorites were his Vintage '90 and '92 line--that is, until I sampled the Olde World Reserves! CIGAR HEAVEN! I hope there is a special on these again; they are certainly worth the regular $10 per price, but at the special offer price CI gave me, these are a STEAL. Absolute perfection!!”
AT of Port Jefferson Station, NY
“This one, is one heck of a cigar (old world Reserve Maduro)...burns slow and cool with a easy draw. It has a very nice nutty sweet after-tatse. This one is a deffinate auto ship for me. Thank you!!!!! Mr. Patel”
MW of Ellensburg, WA
“By far, the best cigar I have ever smoked (Rocky Patel Olde World Reserve). Construction is excellent, burn is even, and the taste is what cigars are all about. I love ALMOST all Rocky blends, but this one holds a special place in my humi, and in my heart.”
TM of Round Rock, TX
“Rocky Patel Olde World Reserve is my favorite. The pre-light smell is amazing, the draw is easy and perfect, the wrapper tastes great, and the smoke is luxurious and smells nice too. The strength is full but not overpowering. Then of course, there is the taste...I find this cigar to be fairly complex and it keeps surprising me, but it is always awesome. Seriously, this is just a great cigar. If you haven't tried this yet--whether you're a Rocky Patel fan or not--do yourself a favor and pick some up. You'll thank me.”
NJ of dayton, OH
“Excellent smoke if it would stay lit and burn properly. After reading some of the comments seems like a common problem with the cigar itself. Really too bad because this thing (when lit) is really great.”
HB of Edgewood, MD
“Yeeah Baby...Smoother than a Barry White serenade. Booms out smoke like an indian sending smoke signals. You know what those signals are saying? There saying "Put on a good college football game Saturday afternoon, make a drink and DO IT!"”
MS of Sand Key, FL
“Each of these are more like a piece of art more than a cigar. The "Rocky Patel Olde World Reserve" is simply put a perfect cigar, and it sits on the top rung of my favorite list accompanied by the vintage 90, decade, and a couple other non Rocky sticks. My problem is when I find a cigar as good as this I know right away that it should be alone at the top, and if not for the price this one would most definitely be there in place of the vintage 90 2nds that I can afford to have every chance I get. This particular Rocky en bodies what I love about his cigars. one of the things I savor the most about Rockies cigars is the pressed presentation. I think it gives a cigar weight, these cigars are as hard as a rock (no pun intended). When you ad the beautiful blemish free leathery wrapper it feels like a polished stone in the hand. The burn was absolutely flawless to the nub, and last but not least the taste, oh the taste... Only a Rocky Patel could taste this good I call it a kinda tangy nutty flavor preceded by wonderful spice in the beginning and again some what in the end as well. I got tons more flavor as well but we only get 2,000 words.”
RT of Norwood, OH
“A genuine masterpiece (Rocky's Olde World Reserve Corojo). I smoke my first one today after letting it rest in my humidor for a year...I will smoke my second one tomorrow.”
FF of Tazewell, TN
“Love the Maduro's they are a work of art! Rich, full bodied, but very smooth and creamy! Wow! Can't say I totally agree with LC from Houston, because I was less excited about the regular's. I like them, but would be just as happy with something else - they seemed a bit harsh, but admittedly they have only had about a month in the humi, maybe with more time? But the Maduros - right out of the wrappers - fabulous! Lot's of character and body, but also very smooth and "chocolatey?" Similar to a "decade" but a little deeper in character and sweetness(?). Perfect construction! Try some, you'll love em!”
JH of San Diego, CA
“I really like Rocky and read the reviews here but this didn't do it for me. I really couldn't tell much about the flavor as it seemed bland. To each his own because I know I like cigars that others don't and vice versa.”
CS of Rock Springs, WY
“This is a great cigar and no suprise that it comes from Rocky Patel. I ordered the Lonsdales and upon initial inspection was disapointed at the wrinkled look of the wrapper and concerned with how the burn quality / construction may be. I have smoked three of them now and on all the draw and burn were outstanding and the burn time was amazing, well over an hour. The flavor both unlit and burning is outstanding, very complex. This stick has a high position in my rotation. (although it doesn't destroy it. I may have to fight LC for that stance)”
WY of Vero Beach, FL
“My first Olde World Reserve was A corojo wrapper, I didn't think it would get any better than that. I was wrong. After putting fire to A maduro wrapped Olde World Reserve I was totally blown away with the number of flavors this cigar produces. A perfect balance from the start and remained that way. Then there's the aroma, deep coffee and earth, worth the price of the cigar on its own. This was by far the best experience I have had with A Rocky Patel. This is A great cigar!”
RB of Rockmart, GA
“I would argue that Rocky's quality control of this line has slipped and the toro 6.5 X 52 is more of a 48. By his standards a name brand 2nd. That said, this is a classic and the 3rd best in his line. With a draw like a hot knife through butter and every flavor known to cigars, 90.”
TT of Eugene, OR
“To start I am a novice. I have had opportunities to smoke for about 10 years a respectable variety of cigars. I received 2 from cigar of the month club. For me, the standard is Hoyo Excalibur brand. My first Olde World Reserve was a treat and I believe might have dethroned the Hoyo. Unfortunately the second burned horribly. I to center cut it and restarted the burn. The same problem continued. I have to date never had a good cigar have a complete fail like that from a premium. Nice flavor. Did I tend it wrong? I didn’t think so. My first burned perfectly. I should add the burn favored label side up, almost like it settled unfavorably.I have heard only the best from RP. I'll give RP it another chance because it was tasty.”
CG of Fayetteville, NC
“Picked up a five pack sampler, box pressed, and they have excellent flavor but did not burn evenly and went out all the time. I'm not sure if this is a trait of box pressed cigars? I ran into this problem with all five of them. There are plenty of other cigars out there that are just as good and don't burn weird or go out all the time.”
KK of Bremerton, WA
“I really like this cigar(RP OldeWorldReserve)maduro. I wish I could buy a box of 20! I am searching to find a "CI" sampler with some in the group. Smooth, start to finish. I even had to do a "re-lite" after 30 minutes, and it never missed a beat. Thanks to "RP",and as always,"CI". ”
TW of Littleton, MA
“Bought a 5 pack and feel so so about them. Even though they go out about 4 or 5 times during the smoke, the rich full body oscuro wrapper on mine made up for it. They are consistent through and through but again, the darn thing keeps going out on me! This is an intense cigar not to be smoked on an empty stomach!”
